As much as I love to get dressed up, my favorite looks are always those that balance the feminine and the edgy. When I found this dress I was instantly obsessed – I love the velvet and lace combo! It’s a little sweeter than I normally go but dresses are one of the easiest pieces to give your own spin and adapt to fit your style. You can transition them for any occasion with a few edgy or casual additions –  some of my favorites are below:

1.) Leather jacket: Is there any look that a leather jacket can’t instantly transform? It’s my first addition to toughen up any look. I love the edgy moto vibe against the sweet lace and velvet detail in this Elie Tahari dress (love this one). It makes even the most feminine dress a perfect option to wear during the day or to work meetings.

2.) Ankle boots: My pump collection is proof – I never say no to a good pump. But sometimes the obvious shoe isn’t always the best shoe. Go for something just as sophisticated but a little more unexpected with a sleek bootie. I also love an embellished ankle boot for more of a statement. It will instantly take a classic lace dress to a new level that works in the office with a blazer or by itself out for dinner after.

3.) Soft sweaters: One of the coziest ways to transform a dress is with a pretty pullover sweater. I especially love this look with fitted dresses (obsessed with this suede dress!) or to highlight pretty details on the hem. How pretty are these tassels?

4.) Over-the-knee boots: Hands-down the best way to rock your mini dresses well beyond fall – ditch your tights for an over-the-knee boot! The combo is such a clean look, shows just enough skin to be sexy but still warm, and may be the easiest possible pairing to pull off.

I love the detailing on Elie Tahari’s dresses. The contrast between the fabrics they use really adds interest and dimension to their pieces which makes them great for transition pieces. Below are a few more of my favorites from the Elie Tahari collection at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Our family wasn’t big on Halloween growing up – but it’s really become a big family Holiday for us now! I am always down for any opportunity I get to twin with B! For the first time last week he told me what he wanted to wear (orange shirt) so I realized my days of matching might soon be numbered 🙂 I love this pumpkin tee (under $50) is such an easy wear for Halloween. Wear with skinny jeans and black suede booties (love these!) or for a more casual look running errands with distressed jeans and your favorite rain boots. I always get so many comments on this Halloween tee whenever I wear it, it’s definitely a staple for this month!

Beverly Hills Anniversary Trip

DETAILS: WHITE LACE DRESS | EMBELLISHED BOOTS

Cody and I were so excited to do a mini-getaway for our 5 year anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years! It seems like it’s been longer but shorter at the same time if that even makes sense, haha. The last 5 years have flown by but at the same time it feels like we’ve been together forever.

California is like a second home to us – we got married here and come down about once a month. We love it so much!

We literally laid in bed until like 11 o’clock one morning! We ordered breakfast in bed and just lounged. It’s seriously so nice having a little time just me and him to just do nothing!

My favorite thing to do when I first get into a hotel is get in the hotel robes! I don’t know where the tradition came from but it’s always one of the first things I do and I end up lounging for as long as I can get away with it.

We stayed at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons and their views from their rooms are SO pretty! For sure get the room with a balcony! We would sit out in the morning on their lounge chairs and just watch the hustle and bustle of the city. Sunsets are also so good!

The hotel is literally right on Rodeo Drive, so you can walk out your door and go shopping! I always get a memento from each of our special vacations. Sometimes half the fun is exploring and shopping for just the right souvenir, right? 🙂 I got some super cute Gucci sneakers I had been looking for for awhile so I was excited to find them! They’ll make an appearance soon so stay tuned! 🙂

LA car rides

hello fashion luxury cars

The Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons went above and beyond on taking care of everything so we didn’t have to stress about planning much on the trip. We told the concierge it was our anniversary and they put together a whole date night for us right down to every detail and it turned out to be such an unforgettable night! It was so cool because it was stuff we wouldn’t have thought to do! They set us up with a car, one of Cody’s weaknesses, he loves cars! It was a brand new Benz convertible with all the bells and whistles. I swear it was like having a whole computer in the car with as many gadgets as it had.

They made us reservations at one of Malibu’s hotspots – Nobu. When we got there Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were sitting there eating dinner with their family. Crazy! A private shuttle then picked us up and took us for the grand finale a private wine tasting at Malibu Rocky Oaks. It was seriously one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been!

The night at Malibu Rocky Oaks was seriously unforgettable. The vineyard is literally built into the top of the mountain so it has the most amazing views. It was built before they had all the codes and regulations and now no one is allowed to build on a peak like this estate, so it will always have that 360° view of Malibu. I’m also kind of obsessed with Keeping Up With the Kardashians (guilty pleasure) and they told us they have gone up there a couple times for some episodes so I was kind of fan-girling out haha.

Random fact about Cody: he doesn’t drink, and he still thought it was one of the coolest places he has ever been. So even if your not a big wine person it’s still such an amazing experience. Honestly I can’t say enough about it!  It was magic. It was right at sunset and it was hands down the prettiest sunset I have ever seen. Every time I thought the colors couldn’t get any more amazing, they got deeper and more vibrant. It was one of the views you’ll never forget that you can never quite capture exactly in pictures or descriptions. So I’ll start rambling 😉

We seriously had the most amazing time! It was the perfect balance of downtime and exploring the city and new sights. What are some of your favorite spots around Beverly Hills?

If there’s anything I’ve learned while being a stay-at-home, working mom, it’s the perspective that nobody can do it all and there’s no such thing as the perfect mom or perfect family. The other day I was having this conversation with someone, and we were talking about working and kids and they were like, “But you have it so easy. You can just work from home, stay in your pajamas, and be with your kids.” I laughed for a second because I’ve heard that so many times! I love being with the kids but in no way is it easy. Being a mom isn’t easy, running a business isn’t easy, but the good always far outweighs the hard!

10 truths about working from home as a mom:

  • No, you don’t have time to get ready every day. While I’m getting ready in the morning, Beckam will pull on my shirt every two minutes asking for a snack, his blanket, play-dough, a car. No 2 minutes go by uninterrupted so taking 10 minutes to do your makeup and hair might turn into an hour if it gets done at all. 😛 It might be a few days before I get the chance to wash my hair or put on makeup, so I try to focus on the bigger picture and spending time doing the little things that will yield the longest lasting results. Spending 15 minutes with a good face or eye mask, getting lash extensions that last weeks so it looks like I have make up on – all those can do wonders making up for a solid no-makeup week. I’m also really picky about my hair care routine to keep my hair healthy and strong. The Nexxus Emergencee system is my favorite. It rebuilds and repairs your hair’s protein with elastin protein and collagen so it’s more resilient and stronger.nexxus
  • Sunrise is your alarm clock. Because I’m trying to make the most of the time I do have with the kids, I try to get most of my work done while they are asleep. That means my alarm usually goes off at 5-6am!
  • The guilt – I go back and forth between feeling like I’m working too much and missing out on moments with the family or not working enough and falling behind on deadlines. I realized… I don’t think there’s a right answer either way! The most important thing you can do is make the most of the time you spend either way. That means when I am with the kids, I make sure it’s meaningful and that they get 100% of my attention. Every once in a while I catch myself multitasking, trying to do both at once, and find myself getting annoyed because then nothing gets done and nobody wins. I started getting a babysitter and knocking out as much work as I could during those few hours a week so I could be more present with the kids during the time I do have with them and it has made such a difference! Sometimes quality makes up for what you lack in quantity.
  • You perfect your go-to hairstyle really fast. My hair is in a messy bun 75% of the time because I don’t have time to get ready. (Dry shampoo you are my lifesaver!) I also always use the Nexxus nourishing hair oil for my ends. Infused with babassu and marula oils, this product is perfect when you are in a rush and need help hydrating your ends.
  • Joggers don’t have to look like pajamas! Yes, one of the perks of working from home is getting to wear whatever you want. You can still get away with comfy clothes while still being chic. A fitted cropped jogger with a lace-up sweater is just as cozy as pajamas but still looks like you put effort into getting ready for the day.
  • You never get that “off-the-clock” feeling. Working from home means, by default,  you take your work home with you.  It takes a lot of practice to be able to turn it off sometimes. You have to set aside specific times when you can turn it off so you can still spend time with the your family and still have a life too!
  • Invest in a clean house! When by house is clean I’m a lot more productive. We have someone who helps lean a couple times a month and it makes such a difference! Whether you have someone every week, once a month, or just spend a few hours cleaning instead of watching TV, it’s so much better when things are fresh and clean! It doesn’t last long at our house, somehow the kids can a a mess in 2 minutes, but the few minutes it is are heaven! Am I right??
  • It’s a roller coaster of emotions. The best days are the best and worst days are REALLY hard. On those unicorn, amazing type of days: work seems to run smoothly, the kids are so cute and extra smiley and snuggly – it’s perfect! And then on the rough days, it’s the absolute worst: The kids are melting down like crazy, something is awry at work, it’s that time of month, I’m moody and grumpy – I want to break. I’ve come to realize that kids really do feed off your emotions. When you’re having those days, find a family member to help out for a hour, or turn on their favorite show so you can get 15 minutes of quiet and just go and meditate. I literally will walk away somewhere quiet and take 10 deep breaths and try to think of what I’m thankful for so I can try and change my attitude. There’s always something positive to focus on even when it doesn’t feel like it.
  • You don’t have to sacrifice your style. Whether you are working from home or not, no mom should have to comprise her closet! I wasn’t about to give up my heels just because I had a baby. Of course I wear my fair share of sneakers but it’s all about balance! Putting an effort into your wardrobe and appearance shouldn’t be something you do just for your S/O, the office, or when you’re going out into public – if anything I think it does more for your own sanity!
  • You catch some of the best moments! There are always hard days in mom-land but one of the things I love most about working from home is you also catch some of the best little milestones and mementos. Through the chaos it makes it all worth it!cuddles

Find what works for you and your family! Social media can be a double-edged sword and make you think it’s easy, but a lot of times we don’t see people’s struggles. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else! Whether you work full time in the office, stay at home with the kids full time, or are somewhere in between, it’s all about making the most of your time in whatever you are doing and enjoying moments along the way.

My Favorite Unisex Beauty Products

hello fashion family time

Beckam is obsessed with lotion. He loves to run around with a bottle of it and squirt it at people!

baby lotion

baby kisses

Lubriderm lotion was my Grandma’s favorite lotion. She would always give everyone a foot rub before bed using their lotion- when we were growing up – it was like her way to give back to the family. My cousin and I learned from her and when we were little we would go around offering 15 minute massages for 10 cents haha. She’s gotten too old to give foot massages anymore so now we give them to her. It’s funny how childhood memories like that can get you so attached to something but it’s so true!

No matter how big your bathroom is, I feel like you will never have enough bathroom space. Even before I met Cody I collected more products than I had space for, and that was before adding guys’ products to the mix. I’m always a sucker for trying new beauty products along with stocking up on my tried-and-true favorites so I’ve even ended up moving some of the products I don’t use that often into the guest bathroom.  Half of coupled Americans say they don’t have enough shelf space for their personal belongings so below are a few of our favorite unisex products to share to solve the battle of the medicine cabinet.

  1. Deodorant: Ok this one might just be me, but I have no problem using Cody’s deodorant! I actually find sometimes it works better than mine! You can also stock up on a more unisex scent to save on bathroom storage space, but I also don’t mind going for a men’s scent.
  2. Gender neutral scents: I love my girly floral perfume options, but I also love a little musk every once in a while! There are some amazing gender neutral fragrances and when you are both sharing it’s sure to get a lot of use.
  3. Face masks and skin serums: Every once in a while I can catch Cody in the mood to do a face mask with me. They are perfect for a little bit of pampering! The hydrating and brightening masks from Ski ii are always great for a his & hers night in and we also share some of my favorite skin serums I use at night. This one is amazing.
  4. Lotion: Nothing is drier than Utah in the fall and winter. The desert dries out all moisture from your skin so you really can’t miss a day of applying lotion or your skin will literally start to crack, especially as it gets colder. Lotion is one of the best unisex products you can get away with sharing – I grew up with this one so it’s always been a favorite. Cody and I love to give each other foot rubs while we binge watch our favorite shows.I also love this soft scent of the Lubriderm Daily Moisturizer because I get headaches really easily from strong smelling lotions so I love how neutral this is!

Happy Monday! We are stayed home this weekend and it was so nice just to do nothing clean out my closet, go to the pumpkin patch, and just enjoy Fall at home with my family. The last couple weeks have been so busy with travel – some work, some play. 🙂  From fashion week to a quick trip to CA for work and our anniversary getaway, it’s been back-to-back trips so far this month. It also just hit full fall weather here in Utah and we have the driest climate so my skin has felt so dry lately. I always notice my fine wrinkles and chapped lips more when I’m dehydrated and busy because I always forget to drink water!

I’m always looking for ways to keep my skin hydrated and feeling rejuvenated. One of my friends told me about the Hydrafacial MD and I was excited to try it out. I have really sensitive skin and found out (the hard way) that the intense laser treatments really do a number on my skin. I had a really bad experience with a facial last year and I literally spent months trying to undo the damage. 🙁 So I have been so nervous to try any other facial treatments but this one has no downtime or irritation so I was excited to try it!

Seeing the results and comparing my skin from before to after – love what it did for my skin! Again, I have super sensitive skin so right after the treatment my face was a little red for about 4 hours. (I probably could have covered it with makeup but I wanted my face to breathe.) Right away I could feel a difference in the texture of my skin; it was a lot smoother, especially around my nose. They said the best results are 24 hours later and that’s when I noticed the biggest changes. My wrinkles around my mouth were filled in and my face just felt dewy and fresh.

RIGHT AFTER TREATMENT:

I was a little red after the treatment which is normal, you can see it most around my cheeks, but my skin felt so smooth!

My skin seriously felt so soft, and the pores around my nose were so much better after!

I love finding new favorites to share with you guys. The facial is great if you have a big event coming up – it’s like my new equivalent of a spray tan but for a fresh face. 😉 You get that fresh look without any needles, plumpers, or fillers and they show you all the stuff they exfoliate from your face! It’s so gross, mine was like a muddy yellow color with dead skin flakes floating. EW!

Anyway let me know if you guys have any questions or when you get it done. I’d love to know what you think! DM me on snapchat of Instagram! (You can see all the places they are offered here.)

Have a great day guys!
