1 Thing All Good Hair Days Have In Common

We’ve been on a chalk spree lately and we’ve really been missing the beach so I thought it would be fun to bring the beach to us! Even with my faux beach days, stay at home life has got me getting ready less and going longer between washing my hair. Now is the best time to start training your hair to go longer between washes!

Whether I wear my hair up in my signature messy bun, a sleek low pony, or down with full, loose waves, there’s one thing all good hair days have in common – second-day hair! A little bit of natural hair oil and a goodnight’s sleep will make your hair more manageable and give it more natural volume, so it’s really that magic number for good hair days, even beyond day 2! I started using this new dry shampoo because I love their backstory. A couple years ago, Cape Town was months away from running out of clean water so Waterl<ss developed this product that allows you to clean and condition your hair without using a single drop of water. Such an amazing concept for this crisis but also for water preservation around the world.

Here are some hacks for getting away with skipping your shampoo for healthier hair:

Dry shampoo! Every girl’s best friend! This is one thing I always, always have on hand – at home, in my cat, in my gym bag, when I’m traveling- it’s a must! (Can’t wait to go to the gym and travel again!!) It’s the foolproof way to keep your hair from getting greasy between washes and can actually add a little volume too. I’ve been using Waterl<ss No Residue Dry Shampoo and it smells amazing! They have different options depending on whether your hair is fine or thick – it also dries really quick and doesn’t leave any residue. They also have a fragrance collection, conditioning, and styling collection. Their cute little travel sizes are perfect to throw in your bag and go. (Quick tip: use dry shampoo before a workout or a beach day, instead of after – it will help absorb any sweat or moisture to prevent it getting greasy, instead of just managing it after.)
Use dry shampoo at night. Spray your roots at night with dry shampoo at night to help absorb moisture while you’re sleeping – that’s actually when your scalp produces the most oil! When you wake up, just brush through and it will feel freshly washed.
Keep your hands to yourself. It can be a hard habit to break but try to train yourself to avoid running your fingers through your hair. The more you touch your scalp, the more oils will be released and the greasier it will start to look. (Same goes for brushing! Focus just on the ends when you brush through your hair, not the roots!)
A Silk Pillowcase. People swear by silk pillowcases for a million skincare reasons, but it’s also great for your hair. It causes less friction, so you are more likely to wake up with ready-to-go bedhead, instead of frizzy hair or knots. It also helps extend the life of your blowout or styled hair for longer.
Add moisture as needed. If your hair tends to dry out between washes, add moisture just to the ends. You can apply an oil or a dry conditioning spray to your ends to make them more manageable.

My New Go-To Presets – 25% Off!

Happy Friday guys!! With so much home content lately, I’ve started to edit my photos pretty true to color and natural. Some of you guys have been asking about the new edit – so I just released my ‘Natural’ preset collection. They are perfect for those pictures that just need a slight edit – a little brighter, a touch warmer, etc. It’s a pack of 6 different edits that have been my go-to presets lately, so you have plenty of options to get the perfect, natural-feeling edit for any of your pictures. Natural Clean Preset – this one and the natural everyday (shown below) are probably my most used.

Natural Everyday Interior Preset: another most used this has a slight fade to it to soften the tones

Natural Grain Preset: With film pictures being so in right, I love adding a little grain to my iphone shots to give it that filmy feel. I have this preset in a cool and warm edit.

Here is the Natural Warm preset with my everyday preset (original in the middle) so you can see how the edit hits on the same picture. All of them are so good and will help unify your feed – but keep them pretty true to color.

I think it’s safe to say spring has sprung! Flowers are starting to bloom, the weather is warmer, and everything is starting to come back to life (including me)! Even though life isn’t back to normal yet, it’s amazing what a difference a little bit of sunshine can make. It’s gotten me excited for some new spring looks and I’m craving all things comfortable and casual this season. (Love that loungewear is taking over streetstyle!) Here are a few of my favorite looks around Pinterest right now:

Jewelry completely transforms even the coziest looking loungewear. Just add a few layered pieces to take a ‘woke up like this’ look to an effortlessly but intentionally undone ensemble that feels put together.Such simple pieces can tie in a casual black tee like this link chain, and malachite necklace. I love this coin pendant to layer and some rings like this ridge ring, this infinity ring, and this cute bond ring.

I love this monochrome look! This heavy cotton tee paired with a white flare jean and cute straw hat is the perfect summer look!

Since we are still staying cozy inside our houses this white ribbed sweat set is a great lighter fabric option for Spring so you’re not hot during the day! Super cute paired with a more colorful vintage vibe sneaker like these.

These gym shorts and crop top create a cozy 90’s look that I am here for. I just ordered this set (only a few sizes left!) to recreate the look and this cute ribbed tank for days outside! Air Force 1’s are my go-to shoe and I love them with this look!

Flare pants are so in right now! I love these wide leg Levis with this simple white tee to tie in a knot paired with these black sunnies. A simple shoulder bag is a perfect accessory with this outfit as well!

How to Style: Casual Suits

Comfort meets sophisticated with the new suit and I’m all for it. You can’t deny that comfort is cool and with casual suits hitting the runway from all the best designers – from The Row to Oscar de la Renta – all styled with a fresh new spin. We’re seeming them styled with sporty sneakers and eye-catching jewelry to completely transform them from an office-only look to something we could take to the streets. This season we are seeing such an amazing variety, from colorful options, lighter linen fabrics, and my personal favorite: the shorts suit making a new debut.

Here are 3 different casual suiting trends and how to style them, from sporty to sophisticated:

THE LINEN LOOK: (EVERYTHING UNDER $100)

Nothing says spring/summer ready like linen. I love this linen shorts suit look for an effortless day look. To keep it feeling sophisticated, keep it monochromatic with pretty beiges and nudes. You can also break it up with a bright neon cropped tee (similar here) and bright sneakers for a sporty look. Also love this blazer and paper-bag pant set – so chic and great price points!

COLORFUL COOL:

The colorful casual suits options right now are endless. Obsessed with this gorgeous rose suit! THE SHORTS SUIT:

Hey guys! Wanted to do an Easter recap. The day just flew by so fast on Sunday I didn’t get a chance to put this together until yesterday. The kids all crowded around Ollies crib and slept by him on the floor because they wanted to be by him for his “first Easter.” It was so sweet! Mara told me later that Beckam kept waking up asking if he could go try and catch the Easter bunny so Ollie kept waking up hearing B talk haha I don’t think anyone got much sleep 😉 We did an Easter egg hunt, and I printed some church actives and Cody and I streamed church from home. We all got dressed up and it still felt like Easter, honestly I kind of liked it a little more because we weren’t running around everywhere 🙂

I gotten lots of questions on our outfits, my dress is by Zimmerman one of my favorite brands – they always have the best spring prints especially! Floral prints this season are extra romantic and sophisticated – here is a similar vibe under $100; also love the print of this flowy dress and how good is this one? We found this cute wrap dress (only $11!) for Mara and she loves that she’ll be able to wear it out for any occasion since it’s easy to dress up or down.

I love seeing the boys dressed up in matching suits on Easter! Found this one to fit Wes and this one for B’s size. Even when they are in matching suits, they still make it their own by opting for white sneakers and their own undershirt. (Love this floral patterned button down Wes chose – such a cool print to make a suit more his own style!) With a white button down like Beckam, you can add a little pocket square to add some more color. Ollie wore the overalls Beckam wore on his first Easter – I didn’t save a ton of B’s clothes but it makes me so happy seeing him in some of the special ones ❤️ Here’s a pic of B on his first Easter and Ollie on his 😍

Capsule Wardrobe: 5 Must-Own Shoes Staples

I am a firm believer that shoes can transform an outfit. They are one of my favorite things to buy! But I’m working on some upcoming posts sharing my capsule wardrobe suggestions, and wanted to kick it off by sharing my capsule shoes – the ones every closet needs! Here are the 5 shoe silhouettes you should own and a few suggestions for some of my current favorite silhouettes for each style.

Neutral Heel

A nude pump is the keystone of any capsule shoe collection. Wear them with boyfriend jeans during the day, a high-waisted trouser at the office, or a flirty dress for a night out. These louboutin heels were the first designer shoes I ever bought and they are still one of my favorites to this day.

NUDE CLEAR PUMP (ON SALE)

I love the clear/nude combo. This pair is a great price point (on sale right now) and the clear detail adds a more modern edge. Also love this suede pair for a more classic silhouette.

NUDE STILETTOS

These are my go-to nude heels. They are definitely an investment, but I have worn them on repeats for years, so if you are on the fence, splurge on these instead of buying 5-6 other pairs that you will wear a few times for a year or two before you are over them. They are timeless and go with everything.

Obsessed with the strap detail on these pumps! I have this style from them in white and it’s one of my favorites – they are classic but also super unique.

Simple White Sneaker

I live in my white sneakers! I grew up as a tomboy and own dozens of heels, but I’ll choose a white sneakers 9 times out of 10. With sportswear being such a huge ticket in fashion right now, you can get away with pairing sneakers with almost any look – a cropped trouser, sun dress, or a sporty look. Here are some of my favorites:

WHITE SNEAKERS

These are one of my favorite sneaker brands. I love all the color options they have (this pair is perfect for spring; also love the contrast on this pair). Also have this Reebok pair which has that similar retro vibe (and under $100).

C HUNKY SNEAKER

Who else is all about the chunky sneaker trend? I love pairing them with joggers and Nike socks for a streetstyle look, or also with boyfriend jeans or a spring dress to add a sporty vibe to any outfit.

SNEAKERS WITH NEON DETAIL

Obsessed with the neon detail on these sneakers! This is another great quality brand of sneakers – also love this neutral sneaker (similar here). This pair is another great lace-up option for under $50.

Combat Boot

WHITE-LACED COMBAT BOOTS

Combat boots! They are the biggest trend in boots right now – so big that they are overflowing into spring and summer looks. You can transition them into spring with a mini skirt and cropped tee, with your joggers, or with a tailored cropped trouser. The possibilities are endless! Here are a few options to bring an edgy vibe to your closet.

COMBAT BOOTS WITH WHITE LACES (ON SALE UNDER $50)

If you aren’t ready to fully commit to the combat boot trend, this pair if the perfect way to dip your toe in. They are on sale right now under $50 and have more of a sleek silhouette if you don’t want a super chunky boot. I wear mine all the time. They also come in white!

BUCKLE COMBAT BOOTS

These boots were my big splurge this winter and they are hands down my favorites. I love the gold hardware detail. This pair is another great option with some hardware detail at a lower price point.

WHITE DOC MARTENS

If you weren’t convinced that 90s style was back in full force, these Doc Martens beg to differ. I love the idea of having a white combat boot – they are a great statement boot and pair more with your spring/summer ensembles.

Barely-There Sandal

Nothing gets more feminine than a pretty, barely-there sandal. They are a must during spring and summer to lighten up any and all of your outfits. Here are some of my favorite styles right now:

SNAKESKIN HEELED SANDALS (ON SALE UNDER $100)

Love the clear straps of these sandals with the animal print block heel! They have a casual feel so they are the perfect addition to elevate a simple or comfy look. Also on sale right now for under $100. (Love them in nude here too!)

KITTEN SANDALS

These are the epitome of the ‘barely there’ sandal silhouette. It’s so minimalist but also effortlessly chic. Pair them with your favorite jeans and a tee, a shorts suit, or any of your favorite dresses. (Also love this slide version here – on sale under $100.)

SQUARE TOE SANDALS

Square-toe, strappy sandals are everything right now and there are so many great options that don’t come with a Bottega Veneta price tag. Love these and also this slide silhouette.

Every girl needs that special pair of show-stopping shoes to throw on when she needs them. The right shoe can turn even the most basic outfit into a winning look. Here are a few statement shoes I’m obsessed with, from sneakers to stilettos.

If your shoe game is pretty neutral, the first step to adding a statement is a bold color. This season has so many amazing pastels and neons – the options are endless. How pretty are these pink sandals? Also obsessed with this gorgeous yellow kitten heel.

NIKE AIR MAX SNEAKERS

In a sea of white sneakers, you need to have a statement pair. Whether that means a colorful sneaker or a retro, chunky sneaker, you’re sportswear looks will thank you for stepping up your shoe game with a cool vintage silhouette Nike.

CLEAR KITTEN HEEL

I cannot get over this pair of kitten heels! (Hello, modern day glass slipper!) From the gorgeous texture to the round heel, it is definitely a show-stopper. Since it’s a neutral, you can pair it with anything. It would be so chic with boyfriend jeans and a linen oversized button up.

FLORAL SANDAL

This is one of my favorite spring shoes this season. The floral print is any easy way to bring some color and pattern to your wardrobe and the pleated material adds a really pretty texture. (Also how good is this sporty sandal version??)

How To Style: Elevated Athleisure

It’s no surprise that comfort is trending right now, but sportswear isn’t just for the gym or lazy mornings. One of my favorite trends right now is elevated athleisure – going from sneakers and streetstyle to blazers and business meetings. Below are a few ways to transition your athleisure pieces for multiple occasions.

The starting point for making the transition from daytime to desk job? A good pair of track pants. This is another great pair and love the color scheme on this pair (under $50). Track pants pair perfectly with a white sneaker and a cropped hoodie – just add a utility jacket for an extra layer to bring in some more detail (love this one). To make your track pants work for the office, swap out the sneakers for some pretty sandals. You can also add a fitted bodysuit layered under an oversized blazer. (Would also love this look with an oversized button up for an effortless but professional feel!)

50 Maternity Outfits At All Price Points

I have been getting a lot of questions about maternity outfits – since the bulk of my pregnancy was Spring/Summer I thought it was perfect timing to share a recap of some of my outfits from my pregnancy last year! I compiled a bunch of outfits of what I wore all into one post, so make sure you pin to save for future reference!

During my pregnancy, I was all about keeping it cool and comfortable. While I did buy a lot of new pieces for this pregnancy, less than 10% of them were actually maternity pieces! I bought a ton of affordable basics and just sized up to make some room for the bump. I’m typically a size S, so by the middle of my pregnancy I was sizing up to a M and by the end I was sometimes sizing up to a L. As you are about to see, dresses became my best friend! If I could tell you to get any one staple it’s a bodycon dress. I loved the ones from Forever21 – they are super cheap but probably my most worn. I got a medium and it lasted my whole pregnancy because they are super stretchy! They are a miracle worker when it comes to maternity style. If it were ever possible to break the ‘eating-out’ too much habit, it’s right now. Coincidentally, my parents were in town visiting last month when everything hit and it was the perfect chance to take advantage of their amazing cooking skills. We practiced some of their recipes together and they also gave me a list of their must-haves for cooking at home, so I wanted to share those plus the #1 kitchen essential everyone needs: THE KITCHENAID! I know it’s an investment but I seriously use mine so much!! We usually used our mixer for chocolate chip cookies, but once this hit I just discovered all the attachments that blew my mind haha! I got this slicer, spiralizer, and citrus juicer attachment. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to cook but this makes all the prep work so easy!
