If you follow me on Instagram you probably heard Wednesday was really the only day I got ready this week. The truth is sometimes you just need a break from getting dressed up or getting ready for the day. It makes the times you do get dressed up more exciting! It’s like after having a bad hair day 3 days in a row, by the 4th day, even just a decent hair day looks amazing, right? 🙂
After a few days of living in no make up, sweats, and muscle tanks, I can’t wait for an occasion to get dressed up.
This dress is one of my all-time favorites. I love the contrast of the neutral tones with the embellished beading. Adding a
delicate heeled sandal finishes the understated, feminine look perfectly. (I’ve gotten a lot of questions on
these heels. I’ve only had them a few weeks but I have already worn them with everything from the
pink pleated dress in this post to
distressed boyfriend jeans.)
Today I’m starting a ’10 things’ mini series. Over the next couple weeks I’ll be sharing 10 things you didn’t about me on various topics from my career to the family to my personal life to give you a closer look at the girl behind the curtain. 😉
Is blogging your full time job?
Yes and no. I work over 40 hours a week on my blog but I also manage our company ILY COUTURE and work full time there as well.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
Be more organized.
Did you go to college and what did you study?
I graduated from the University of Montana with a bachelors in Fine Arts and a minor in Business. If I could give any piece of advice about college it would be study abroad. I studied in Florence, Italy for 6 months and it was a life changing experience!
What is your nationality?
I’m Colombian. I was born in Bogota, Colombia. My dad was in the Marines and met my mom there. My mom is full Colombian and my dad is American. I moved to the US when I was one. All my family on my mom’s side still lives in Colombia. It is at the top of my travel list to get back there and see my family.
If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?
How I am going to die. I don’t know why but I am really scared of death. It freaks me out.
Do you have insecurities, if so what are they?
My legs. I have been teased about my “chicken legs” since I was in middle school. I hated wearing shorts. I played basketball from Kindergarten through high school so I had to wear them consistently for game days. I would always dread it because I knew I would get teased. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized everyone has little insecurities and things they wish they could change. But in the end it’s what makes us unique and special. Own it and love your body the way you are 🙂
Your house catches fire, after saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?
B’s baby/memory book. Cody and I have written down our favorite memory with him each month since he’s been born. It has become a family diary and I would be so upset to lose that.
Best piece of advice you’ve got from someone?
I love quotes and motivational books! Probably one of favorite quotes that my husband showed me was: “You are only going to be as good as the people you surround yourself with. Be brave enough to let go of the people weighing you down.” I think friends have such a huge impact on who you are. Surround yourself with people positive people, who motivate you and make you a better person.
What’s an embarrassing style/hair/ or makeup habit?
I totally get a lady-stache. I have super dark hair (naturally) so I get dark hair above my lip and if I don’t wax it weekly you might get me confused for a man 🙂 jk, but really I have to maintain it weekly and if we are being completely honest since I’ve had kids I’ve started getting a couple chin hairs too. Its so gross!
Are you married? kids? family?
I’ve been married for almost 4 years, and I have three kids. Two are my step kids (Mara and Wes) and one is my biological son (Beckam). We have Mara and Wes part time which is why you don’t see them in all my pictures 🙂 A lot of you have asked for a post about being a stepmom and having a blended family. I promise it’s coming soon. It’s such a sensitive subject. It seems people are pretty passionate about it one way or the other so I want to make sure I get all my thoughts in order 🙂
I’ll be sharing more over the next couple weeks, if there is something in particular you want to know more about let me know. I love connecting with you guys and want to share more to make this a more personal space. Thanks so much for reading!
Don’t miss Cody’s post featuring more of today’s look and sharing alternatives to traditional oxford shoes.
