I love reading motivational books and articles. A few weeks ago, I was reading about pushing yourself to be the best. They talked about so often when we think about being the best, we are comparing ourselves to everyone else in the world trying to be “better” than them. Instead, we should be reflecting inwards and looking at “the best” in regards to ourselves. Did we REALLY give it OUR all and do OUR personal best. I loved this thought and it really hit home for me, because with the social media generation we live in, it’s so easy to compare ourselves to others, when we should be comparing ourselves to ourselves and our own individual progress. Seems weird when you say it, but ask yourself – are you really being the best version of yourself? The best mom you can be, friend, employee, entrepreneur, wife, daughter, etc. I can honestly say there are areas I am failing in, but I am always working on growing and being better.

Each year I set goals for myself, both goals to grow personally and grow my brands. The goals always align with what I achieved the year before, and setting benchmarks based off of where I was previously. Let’s just say we grew 10% last year, so this year I want to grow 12%. It’s not about looking at another brand, trying to set my goals based off their performance or wanting to beat other brands. Instead it’s about pushing my own limits and looking within for ways to grow personally and in our own business endeavors.

This month Secret reached out about promoting their Clinical Strength line and talking about pushing your limits to reach higher, and this is something I believe in so much! I’ve used their deodorant for years –  love that you start dry and stay dry with their Invisible Solid that goes on smooth :). When you start pushing yourself to want the best out of life, you push for it in everything you do and use, which is why I use Secret. And this is not just with work, but healthy eating or eating habits, making efforts in your relationships, sticking to your lengthy nightly skincare regimen no matter how tired you are, or sticking to your tried-and-true products instead of the easiest to grab-and-go. But instead of comparing your eating habits to someone else’s, or your career moves to another’s, just remember where you started and it will be so much easier to stick with your goals and succeed!

Have you guys tried Secret Clinical Strength yet? Check out the product here. There’s also a special promotion in stores at Walmart through April 28th.

DETAILS: WHITE RUFFLE SLEEVED DRESS | STRAW SUN HAT (worn with multiple outfits!) | RED ANKLE BOOTS | WHITE CROSSBODY

Isn’t the Eiffel Tower just magical?! It gets me every time. This is one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn! It was really cold the first few days we were in Paris, so when the sun finally came out we were so excited to not have to be layered up anymore. I had picked out so many cute pieces for the trip because I thought it would be nice weather so I was glad to finally get to wear some of them. 😂

I am so obsessed with this dress – the sheer detailing, the ruffles – it was one of the pieces you try on and can’t wait to wear! mytheresa.com has so many amazing spring pieces right now. It’s definitely my go-to for stand out pieces, like this polka dot dress! Love the sheer detail with the bows. I also got this Gucci tee and this See By Chloe Dress, and how cute is this cropped button up? Also got these mules – obsessed with the color and with the lower heel they are super comfortable.

And accessories! Parisian style is all about the accessories so I love all the hats (this one is so chic!) and the head scarves. A silk scarf is a must-have this spring – just tie it around a loose pony or messy bun, or even tied around your bag to bring in more color to your look.

I put together a few more of my favorites for spring below!

Polka Dots are another major trend this year, and I love the playfulness it adds to an outfit (how cute is this wrap dress?!). Statement earrings are big too this year and can instantly make a causal outfit dressy.

I’m absolutely obsesssssed with high waisted pants! They give the illusion of a longer leg if you want something slimming and elongating. I’m in love with these trousers and also these white high waisted denim jeans (under $30), I already know I’m going to be wearing them all season long!

Boys Dino Cake

cute birthday cake for boys

I was so excited how the cake turned out. My friend Megan who owns Sweet Tooth Fairy made the cake she is SO TALENTED! Beckam really wanted gum balls and hot tamales (his favorite candies) on his cake and she added them in such a classic way with out making it look cheesy. Inside the cake there was a layer of frosting and M&M’s (his other favorite candy). It was such a GOOD CAKE!

BECKAMS GREY SHIRT | TREX BALLOON | RAWR BALLOONS | DINO CAKE

Beckam turned four last weekend!! I seriously can’t even believe he is four. I think I 100% write this every year , and I probably even say I can’t believe I am saying this again – but it’s really so crazy to me how fast it has gone. I feel like it’s official he is a LITTLE boy, not a toddler, not a baby, a little boy.

There are so many things I love about this stage, he is so independent, says THE FUNNIEST THINGS, wants us around all the time, super cuddly, he just honestly is like a mini best friend. I always tell Cody I hope he always wants to be around us, even though I know the stage will come when he’s a teenager and thinks we know nothing. But I just hope it magically maybe never comes 😉

My family came into town this weekend from Montana for his birthday. It’s always fun having them in town! And as you guys know Cody has a huge family, so our birthday parties are usually just family and we are still 25-40 people deep depending on if everyone is in town 🙂 We all went out to lunch at one of his favorite spots (Spaghetti Factory) and went to the trampoline park. He is obsessed with jumping! If you have a toddler boy you know what I’m talking about!

We filled the living room with balloons and the kids played for hours with the balloons. 🎈 Why are balloons fun at any age 🙂 We got Beckam a new bike for his birthday. He’s too tall for his strider bike, so all he wanted to do was be outside riding, but it was snowing!! So cold! So it was short lived. Ready for Spring so we can go play outside all day!

3 Essentials for Spring Ready Skin

Spring Ready Skin

DETAILS: 1. HOOP EARRINGS | 2. PINK OFF THE SHOULDER TOP (UNDER $35!) | 3. JEANS | 4. STRAW BAG | 5. WATCH | 6. GOLD RINGS

Happy Monday! Who else is ready for spring? Once this time of year hits all I want is that dewy spring glow to my skin, and after a little while I think I’ve figured out the things that make a huge difference for me and my skin! Here are my top three tips.

Fruit

Glowing Skin Tips

1. FRUIT: What you put into your body will come out through your skin, so make sure you’re filling your diet with fresh natural foods! Fruit is packed with antioxidants and will help to lighten and tighten your skin, it helps to prevent fine and uneven skin toning and lines and also helps with cell regeneration. So basically for firm, youthful skin – eat fruit!! (An apple a day keeps the wrinkles away haha). A quick mini guide:  Lemons – to lighten & tighten skin, Pineapple – prevents fine and uneven skin toning, Avocado – for cell regeneration, Apples – for firm, youthful skin.

Spring Ready Skin: Olay Whip

2. MOISTURIZER, MOISTURIZER, MOISTURIZER: The best thing you can do for your skin is to keep is hydrated 24/7. Nothing ages you faster than dry, dull skin. Outside of drinking lots of water use a great moisturizer. Lately I’ve been using the Olay Regenerist Whip (love how soft it makes my skin!) to hydrate and increase elasticity so I can start embracing a fresh face for spring. This will be your best friend no matter what skin type you have! They also are giving free samples away right now for you to try here.

3. HYDRAFACIALS: I swear by these for a quick pick me up! Your skin feels amazing for days and it’s a must right before events or special days. They are perfect to give you that instant gratifying glow. Most spa’s offer them nowadays, but if not there are other great facial alternatives out there as well! They run like a $100-$200 depending on where you live. I did a vlog of my experience a couple years ago here. I do them about once a month.

What’s your favorite way to get your skin ready for spring?!

Hi from NYC! Cody is working as the brand ambassador for Westin (so proud of him!) so we are in NY for the next couple days for an event. Normally flying is a breeze and doesn’t phase me. Yesterday we were stuck on the tarmac for an hour and half before we took off because of weather in nyc. We were in the very last row with no window and I was getting major anxiety lol. Like claustrophobic feeling times 100. Usually Cody is the one who gets anxiety but it was totally me yesterday lol.

Our Canada Travel Diary with The Four Seasons Whistler

Thanks for all your recommendations for our Whistler trip! We had soooo much fun and so much good food – just a great time with great people. I’m trying to do better about getting my travel guides up sooner and I think this is a record! The Four Seasons and Landeau  put together this amazing experience for us, below are seven of our favorite things from our Whistler adventure.

DETAILS: GREEN SKI SUIT  | ILY BEANIE (old not available anymore 🙂 | CODY’S BLACK PARKA

Whistler Blackcomb Skiing/Snowboarding: I did cross-country skiing as a kid and really enjoyed it but I have only been downhill skiing once before this trip. I went once in high school and fell down so many times trying to get down the bunny hill that I gave up and spent the rest of the day drinking hot cocoa in the lodge while everyone else was skiing. This time, we had an Olympic athlete, Robbie Dixon, actually teach us how to ski. He thought we had all been skiing before so he took us to the top of the run. When he realized none of us knew what we were doing it was an “uh oh” moment for sure haha. It felt like the hill went on forever! For the first few minutes I kept falling while I was practicing the ‘pizza’ move. I was going straight instead of criss crossing across the mountain. Once he helped coach me on going side to side it was so fun! I will say my legs were sore for like 3 days after, but so worth it! Maybe I won’t wait 15 years before going again haha.

CHRISTINE'S WHISTLER RESTAURANT

Dining with a view: We ate at this restaurant on the top of the mountain called Christine’s (so obviously I was destined to like it ;).  It’s a little fancier food as far as restaurants go but it has 180° views of the mountain and ski resort, so it was such a cool view to go with your meal. They also have a cafeteria side, the Rendezvous, where the views aren’t quiet as good but it’s a good option for something more budget-friendly.

The Bread At Sidecut Steak House: Yes, this deserves a bullet point all on it’s own! One night we had dinner at Sidecut, the Four Seasons Steak House and seriously, when you go – order 50 loaves of their bread! It’s the best bread I’ve ever had in my life and there’s something in the butter that makes it sweet. I think I ate 3 loaves all by myself. I could go on forever about the bread but it still won’t do it justice – you have to try it! The rest of the food was amazing too – the crab was also so yummy.

WHISTLER HOT TUBBING

DETAILS: WHITE AND BLACK PARKA | BLUSH BIKINI (UNDER $50) | MOONBOOTS

Pools/hot tub: I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always look forward to pool perks at hotels! The pools were heated, and  during the winter with the snow falling, it feels like a scene from a movie – especially at sunset! Plus, not a bad way to warm up after being on top of a glacier, haha.

landeau

Landeau totally spoiled us with tons of flowers! They are actually based out of Vancouver. I’ve always been obsessed with their flowers on Instagram and we don’t have one in Salt Lake so I was excited to get some of their bouquets and so sad I couldn’t make them fit in my suitcase on the flight home!

HELLO FASHION SKIING

NIGHT SNOWMOBILING

Nighttime snowmobiling: This was such a fun excursion! You take a snow mobile ride (you can choose if you want to ride solo or with your plus 1) for about 45 minutes to an hour up to a cute log cabin for a fondue dinner. If you are a first-timer on a snow mobile, it’s the perfect intro. The guys started to get a little antsy and kept trying to go tricks and got in trouble because we were all supposed to stay in a single file line. For the girls, we were perfectly content obeying the rules haha. (Tip: The food was delicious but fondue is usually a light dinner so we had pizza by the slice beforehand.)

Timmy Horton’s – This trip was my first intro to Timmy Horton’s. Our bus driver got us super excited for this Canadian classic, and while it wasn’t what we expected it did not disappoint. There was one every couple feet, so you have to stop at least once and try it. It’s a donut shop, and from what we heard definitely a Canadian culture staple – it was actually started by a famous Canadian hockey player.

Such a cool adventure and hands down one of our favorite things this trip.

A night in: We stayed in the residences at the Four Seasons Whistler instead of the hotel side. I was a 3 bedroom residence, so we had plenty of space, but it was so nice having a place to hang out altogether – I really recommend the residences for large groups or families traveling together. There’s a full kitchen, fireplaces in each of the bedrooms the living room. It was super cozy and the perfect spot for everyone to get together and hang out to play card games. We’ve heard summers are incredible here so we are planning to come back with family or friends.

Have you guys tried any of these before? Or what are some of your favorites that I missed?

Below is a quick video we made from the trip 🙂 If you don’t already subscribe you can subscribe to my YouTube here. Have a great weekend!

The No Sugar Challenge That Almost Broke Me

No Sugar Challenge

Christine Andrew New Years Resolution

DETAILS: SPORTS BRA | BLACK CROP TOP (UNDER $30) | LEGGINGS (LAST SEEN HERE)

Who else LOVES sugar! I used to drink a Coke almost everyday. Every morning I would have a chai latte from Starbucks, and every night I would eat a bowl of my favorite sugary cereal before bed. Sugar was a major part of my life!

The reason I started this 14 Day No Sugar Challenge had nothing to do with fitness but was actually because I am obsessed with skincare, skincare products, how to improve your skin, anything and everything, I just love to learn and read about it. I had been reading all these articles about how sugar and processed foods affect so many aspects of your body, one of the main ones being wrinkles and aging your face. It was early December when I came across the article, but I knew there was NO WAY I would make it through the holidays without sugar so I pushed it aside and decided to wait until the new year. January 1st hit and I decided to go 14 days with NO SUGAR! I posted it on my Instagram so I had extra accountability to do it and so many of you guys chimed in with ideas and your favorite snacks to make it happen.

Let me put one disclaimer out there. I did no major artificial sugars, so I still had honey, fruit, yogurt – I was staying away from the major things like pop, candy, cookies, sugary cereals, sugary lattes, processed junk food (I know it’s not sugar but just junk food in general – basically stuff I knew was bad for you). Below is my no sugar diary – if you want to skip past my blabbering I give some tips and and ideas at the bottom and what my overall outcome was.

DAY 1 & 2:

The first two days weren’t that big a deal. I definitely thought about it but had that beginning motivation of “I got this!” which made it easy to fight through the little headaches and tired spells.

DAY 3-7:

The next couple days were when it started to get rough! I got bad headaches, felt agitated, super tired, felt like an addict noticing sugar EVERYWHERE we went. You know when you’re not supposed to have something so all you do is think about it. Ya, that was happening! I was really craving a fizzy soda and posted about it on my stories and a bunch of you recommended Le Croix. Mara picked out the flavors it was strawberry something and you know the burning feeling from the bubbles when you drink pop it kind of gave that effect so it filled my void for the need for pop.

DAY 7 CONFESSION:

Cody and I were driving to Spaghetti Factory, chatting away listening to music, and he’s eating a bag of cinnamon bears totally not thinking I reach my hand in the bang, grab one and take a bite. I’m like dannnng this tastes SO GOOD WHY?! And then mid chew it hit me- I was like crap it’s sugar!! Ahhh!!! I started yelling ” HURRY babe roll down the window I gotta spit this out!!!” I didn’t swallow it and it was 100% an accident so I feel like it’s not a true cheat lol 🙂

DAY 8:

Headed on a flight to Miami and it was super weird because I ALWAYS get Twizzler nibs for the flight. We fly quite a bit so it was so weird my body like wanted to go through the motions at the airport and get my snack foods, but mentally I had stop myself a couple times. Habitually I ordered Ginger Ale, because I have that or Coke on every flight but then the second she handed it to me it was like oh ya I’m not drinking pop so I handed it back to her and switched out for water.

DAY 9 – 11:

Was in Miami and luckily my friends with me are pretty healthy eaters, I found this place that had all organic fruit pops that were like popsicles but just with fresh fruit! They were super yummy and I got a kiwi strawberry one.

DAY 12-14: HOME STRETCH!

I got home from Miami and my best friend flew into town. We stalked up on a bunch of snacks for the kids and Beckam picked one of my all time favorite POWDERED DONUTS! – yes im realizing this is basically turning into a diary of all the sugary things I missed. I opened the bag to give one to B and they smelt SO GOOD. It literally took everything in me not to take one. My friend was like just do it your a day away you seriously did so good already and I was like I can’t, I’ve come this far I have to do ONE MORE DAY! And I know it sounds so dumb but when I finally finished knowing I really really made it and set my mind to something and actually did it felt SO GOOD!

I DID IT!

It was literally a celebration when Day 14 came! I was so excited to have some sort of treat! Yes it was powdered donuts lol, and of course a Coke. But what was weird is usually I can drink a full Coke no big deal I only had a couple sips and was kind of over it. I wasn’t as into as I used to be, and I didn’t even crave my chai lattes anymore! But let’s be honest the donuts tasted like heaven 😉

All about Christine Andrews New Years No Sugar Challenge

So I wanted to share some tips and pointers from what I learned:

SUBSTITUTES:

Milk: I  made the switch from regular milk to almond milk, and surprisingly didn’t even miss normal milk that much. On average one cup of milk has about 10-12 grams of sugar, whereas most almond milks contain no sugar at all.

Soda: On a couple occasions I had really bad cravings for soda, so I turned to drinking zero sugar drinks like La Croix instead. They’re not necessarily my favorite drinks ever, but the carbonation helped to curb the cravings.

When it came to snacks, I loved almonds, apple slices, protein shakes, etc. I also probably ate eggs way more than ever. Scrambled egg whites, egg sandwiches, avocado toast with eggs, really egg anything I like.

EATING OUT:

If you’re going to attempt any sort of lifestyle or diet change it’s probably unrealistic to say that you’ll never eat at your favorite restaurants, drinks or desserts. Something that helped me a lot was one of my friends told me you could look up restaurants menus and nutrition facts online. Nowadays most restaurants include dietary information on their websites which is extremely helpful and insightful. For example a lot of times I thought a salad off the menu would have the least amount of sugar compared to everything else, but most the time was completely wrong! What I would do is look up those facts online for wherever we were planning on eating so that I would know ahead of time what I would be ordering so that I could still stick to my plan.

For example, you can plan your no-sugar Starbucks run in advance with their nutrition information here. It definitely takes a little more planning, but so worth it!

WHAT I LEARNED:

Since the two weeks have been over I’ve been much more aware of sugar and how prevalent it is in the foods we eat. Since the challenge,  I still have my occasional chai lattes and cold Coke, but I’ve cut my overall sugar down SO much. I’m trying to limit myself to two days a week of having a cheat item, and honestly the weeks I don’t limit myself and just eat whatever (it’s been almost 2 months since I finished), I notice a huge change in my energy and overall feelings.

I noticed more changes (for the good) in my body those two weeks of no sugar than ever before! Not to say that working out isn’t important because I started going to the gym a lot more during this too, but sometimes I forget that what we’re eating is what plays the biggest role in how our bodies react and change.

My reason for starting this was out of the intention to be a little healthier and feel better overall, but in the end I realized this was WAY more of a mental challenge than a physical one. If you read my daily diary above you know day thirteen when I was opening a bag of powdered donuts for B it literally took everything in me to resist. At that point I knew one donut wouldn’t ruin everything, but I wanted to push myself and prove to myself that I could stick to my guns. So many times during these two weeks I was pushed to the breaking point of giving in. Once it was over I was so proud of myself for pushing through and it was a good reminder that I really can do anything I set my mind too, and that we’re all stronger than we think. I know this sounds cheesy but I feel like it’s helped me have a stronger mental focus in other areas of my life as well. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I feel like it’s so hard to really explain.

Also I had originally set out to do this for skin improvements and one of the girls who does my makeup a lot came over for a shoot and she was like your skin seems tighter under your eyes have you been doing something different? And I was so excited she saw a difference! She had no idea I was on the sugar challenge and she’s someone who is constantly looking at my skin so I was excited to see it actually worked!

Have you guys ever tried to go without sugar? What was your experience like and would you do it again? Or how long did you last without sugar – so curious!
