I rely a lot on neutrals in my wardrobe, but I also love color so I get excited to find colorful statement pieces to incorporate a lot of bright tones into my look.  Of course shoes and a bright lip are great ways to brighten up your ensemble, but bold colored dresses are one of my favorite ways to add some color to my summer.

It’s easy to get stuck in the routine of shorts and a t-shirt, and as much as I love that combo, my dresses always come out to play for the summer. It’s an effortless, one-and-done outfit you can just throw on for the day or for a night out. I just got this satin sleeveless midi dress. I love the emerald jewel tone and the texture makes it feel so sophisticated but still feminine.  I’ve also gotten so many questions on this pleated dress I got last month from Banana Republic – the ombre makes the dress such a statement piece and the color is such a pretty shade for summer! It’s one of those dresses I want to wear to every time I have an excuse to. I also love this blush dropped-waist dress (on sale – 30% off) and this coral dress! (on sale – 30%)  Banana has so many pretty classic and feminine pieces!

You can find more of my favorite picks from Banana Republic below.

Long vests  are one of those unexpected pieces that are actually really versatile. I just got this draped style and love the color! It’s lightweight and flowy so it’s  a perfect layer for summer because you can add some dimension to your look while still staying cool. I paired it with this bright floral mini dress for a day look. I love bright prints but sometimes they can be a little overwhelming on the occasion. This vest is a great neutrals to off-set a bright dress to make it work for the office of for lunch meetings during the day. To transition it to night, throw on a flirty top (love this pretty peplum!) and an edgy choker over your jeans.

I also added these sunglasses to my collection and am obsessed with them! I somehow always get reeled in by sunglasses, I think because I somehow lose every other pair I buy! This pair was under $30! Saks OFF 5TH has so many cute oversized frames on major sale (Up to 70% off) pieces so it’s a great way to add quality designer pieces to your look if you are working on a budget.

DETAILS: NIKE SHORTS (MORE SIZES HERE ALSO LOVE BLACK HERE) |WHITE TANK TOP (SIMILAR HERE & HERE) | NIKE SNEAKERSAVIATORS | SILVER WATCH (40% OFF)

I have always been a Nike girl – not just my obvious sneaker obsession (just got this pair) but their workout clothes are always so cute. I’m obsessed with these shorts I just ordered them in the black and this red/pink color.

Lately in full honesty it’s been really hard for me to get to the gym. So I’ve been trying to do more active things outside of the gym to stay active. There are so many fun things you can do with you S/O, friends, or the kids to get you in the habit of breaking a sweat to either work your way up to those regular gym routines or pair with it.

  1. The Trampoline Park: This is one of the kids’ favorite destinations but it’s actually so much fun for adults too! Cody is a ninja he can do all sorts of tricks and flips and I’ll just hop a long like a bunny, but you can totally feel your heartbeat pick up and they have some fun obstacle courses too for arm and leg work outs.
  2. Hike: We have really been on an outdoor kick lately. We are lucky to have so many amazing hikes to choose from here in Utah. Even if you don’t have anything nearby, you can make a weekend of it and head to the nearest mountains – it will definitely be worth it!
  3. Hit the water: There are so many great water sport workouts that you can make a family day out of, like paddle-boarding, kayaking, rafting or even just swimming.
  4. Rock climbing: This used to be one of my one favorite things when I was little! You will be sore for days! Whether it’s indoors or out, rock-climbing is one of the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it 😉 work-outs (especially for upper body) plus it’s so fun to test yourself and see how high you can get.
  5. Try something new: Whether it’s your first time doing yoga, taking a dance class, or learning that sport you always wished you played, it’s never to late to add something new to your list of hobbies, especially if it’s something that will get you moving.

DETAILS: BLACK OFF-THE-SHOULDER TOP (LOVE THIS ONE) |  WHITE FLOWY SKIRT

Today I’m excited to partner with Splendid for their #spreadsoftness campaign sharing the importance of being kind and spreading happiness. One of the most important things Cody and I are trying to teach the kids is about giving and random acts of kindness. It’s not just about money – there are so many random things you can do to brighten and lift peoples’ days that don’t cost a thing.  I’ve noticed when I focus on helping other people, I’m often happier myself and I want my kids to be able to learn that young! Below are a few of our favorite ways to spread softness and some new ideas we can’t wait to try!

    1. Hide $1 bills around some of your favorite toys at the dollar store so someone else can enjoy a new toy.
    2. Let someone ahead of you in line – whether you are in line for your favorite ride at an amusement park, for the restroom at a restaurant, or for a slide at the park.
    3. Round up some of your favorite toys and stuffed animals to donate to homeless shelters and children’s hospitals to brighten up somebody’s day who needs it most.
    4. Leave a treat in the mailbox for your mailman or mailwoman.
    5. Draw pictures for your local nursing home.
    6. Smile and say hello to everyone you come in contact with. It’s funny, if you do this for even an hour at a public place it’s crazy how many people are looking down at their phones. It’s fun to try to see how many peoples’ eyes you can catch to say hello.
    7. Send a hand-written letter to your grandparents. My grandma still writes me letters on my birthday and holidays and even as an adult I still love getting them and she still saves all of the letters I’ve sent her.
    8. Donate books you don’t read anymore to your local library or hospital. It was actually kind of funny picking out books to donate with the kids because even though there were books they don’t read anymore, they were still some of their most memorable books when they were younger.
    9. Write nice notes on a busy sidewalk with chalk for anyone who passes by.
    10. Start to clip coupons and donate the items you get for free to the food bank or homeless shelter. The kids are obsessed wth couponing. Honestly Cody and I aren’t that good at it but they love to go through the junk mail and use the coupons as fake money when they are playing store. I love this idea to help incorporate something they love into ways to help other people.
    11. Write positive sayings on post-it notes and leave them in public places to brighten someone’s day.
    12. On garbage day, pull the neighbor’s garbage cans up to their house once they have been emptied.
    13. Bake a batch of your favorite cookies to share with an elderly neighbor or to drop off at the fire station. Truth be told we actually had to make a second batch because while we were making cards we accidentally ate them all 😉
    14. Pick flowers to give to someone for no reason.
    15. Look for opportunities to compliment everyone.
    16. Pick out some cool socks to donate to homeless shelters. (Socks are the least donated item and one of the most needed.)

I hope these ideas bring you a smile like they did for us and, as cheesy as it might sound, give you a chance to make someone else smile too 🙂 You can make it fun game for the kids by putting up the list on the refrigerator and once they check everything off you can celebrate with a fun family night. There’s really no better feeling than giving back, even in small ways. In honor of #spreadsoftness, Splendid created an exclusive Soft Tees for Softies pack (they are seriously soo comfy) and is giving you a chane to win the set! I’m always so picky when I’m buying perfumes and lately, since I pretty much do all of my shopping online, I never get the chance to really test the different scents in-store. It usually feels like a guessing game as I spray ten different scents on different spots of my arm trying to see how they smell! Please tell me you can relate?! So for the most part I end up sticking to my tried-and-true favorites, but I feel like different occasions call for different scents so I’ve been wanting to branch out and had the opportunity to try the brilliant new line by PHLUR.

What I like most about the brand is the experience you get shopping for your fragrance. They use lifestyle imagery so you get a true feeling behind each scent and the dropdown for tech specs is amazzzzzing! I know I sound so cheesy right now but I was seriously so blown away because I thought you always sprayed perfume on your wrist and neck, come to find out different scents with different ingredients work better on various parts of your body. Each scent has a spec guide on where to spray, how much, and how long it lasts.

Once you pick your scents to try (all scents are unisex), they ship them directly to your home so you can try for a couple weeks to see what you think. I had the opportunity to try the whole collection and the bottles are so pretty and modern they look like a pieces of art. You know I can’t get enough white 😉 The brand is also super eco conscious, minimizing the use of chemicals in their perfumes and doesn’t test on animals. My favorites were Hanami (light and airy – love the subtle smell), Olmstead & Vaux (a bright, clean scent), and Siano (a little bolder – perfect for a night out). You’ll have to let me know which ones you like the best!

It surprisingly holds a lot for how little it is! Like I’m still able to get diapers and wipes in for B! This white one is one of their limited edition colors and I love the pale peach and stingray options – so pretty!

Helloooo summer! Tis the season of cut-off shorts! This pair I actually got last summer and is still one of my favorite pairs for this year.  They are the perfect fit and I love the distressing (similar here under $100 and just ordered this black pair).  I love the easy summer look of cut offs and off the shoulder tops. Off the shoulder tops are kind of my weakness right now! The one I’m wearing comes in 5 different colors here. Pair it with your favorite cut offs and your set for summer 😉

I’m also so excited these sneakers finally arrived after months of being on backorder. I actually got them in the kids’ section – seriously one of the best tricks for getting your sneakers at a discount or finding them when they are sold out in your size! I love that these are back in style, major flash back to the 90’s,  I remember when they were the must-have school shoe back in middle school/high school.

We are in Catalina for a surprise Father’s Day trip with Cody’s family! It’s soooo pretty here, it’s our first time! You can follow along on snapchat: hellofashblog or Instagram: @hellofashionblog. Hope you all have a great weekend!! And HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all you amazing Dads and Grandpas!

Mara and Wes went on a trip with their mom this week so before they left last week I gave them a questionnaire about their favorite things to do with Cody, things he says the most, etc. I’m usually a procrastinator so starting to think about Father’s Day a couple weeks early reminded me how lucky we are to have him. Cody’s really a hands-on dad. He’ll build obstacle courses for the kids to do America Ninja Warrior (Wes’s favorite activity) and is always willing to help with changing B’s diapers, helping me make dinner (at this point he might be in the kitchen more than I am ;), or just grabbing something from the car for one of the kids. He never says he’s too busy or doesn’t have time to help, and is always willing to drop everything to help out with the kids when I have a project pending or a shoot runs late.

I love seeing his bonds with each of the kids. Mara is his baby girl – they have the same sense of humor and like to play jokes on people. Wes and Cody both love cars and dirt bikes so they always wake up early and watch the XGames or Motocross while Mara and I sleep in. Beckam is Cody’s little mini-me and mimics everything he does. If Cody spits out the window, B will ask for his window to be rolled down to try too. 😉 And when Cody is doing his hair in the morning Beckam is right there waiting for Cody to do his hair too. It’s cool to see how much the kids really look up to him. We’re excited to have Mara and Wes this weekend for our family trip to celebrate Father’s Day together!

For Father’s Day I like to do something sentimental with the kids and also get him something from me. Cody collects watches so I knew exactly what I wanted to get him. It’s the only thing he keeps organized in his closet – everything else could be a disaster but his shelf where he keeps his watches is always in perfect order, haha.  It’s one of his favorite accessories so I get excited to pick pieces out for him because I know it will get a lot of wear. This Tommy Hilfiger watch is a classic timeless piece he can wear with a button up and sneakers or that he can dress up with a suit for work or a business meeting.

You can shop a few more timeless gifts for him below.

Hope you guys had a good weekend! Today’s look is sporty meets feminine –  I knew I had to have these joggers the moment I laid eyes on them. They are super lightweight material and so comfortable. Joggers are such a great piece to dress up for work and are easy to transition after you leave the office to meet friends for drinks or dinner with just a few additions. A bodysuit is a perfect combo with loose-fitting joggers (love this pair under $50). You can easily throw on a blazer to make it work-place appropriate or lose it after work for a night out. I love this white one – it’s an office wardrobe staple, especially for summer. And of course my personal favorite way to dress up just about anything – a beautiful pair of pumps.

You probably remember this bag from my shopping snaps in England! I am so obsessed with the mini. I love the shade of it, the color is so different from all my other bags but still a neutral so it’s easy to match. I have to have shoulder straps on my handbags these days so both my hands are free to chase the kids and I love the delicate size so I’m not cluttering my bag with too much stuff. Somehow I always end up with a suitcase of stuff in my totes 😉
