These capes are one of my favorite pieces we brought in to ILY this fall! I wore the navy one on my Instagram this weekend when we took the kids on the helicopter ride for Wes’ birthday. They come in four colors (burgundy, camel, black, and navy). I couldn’t decide on a favorite color, I know all of them will get a lot of use. They are also reversible so if you want the grey to be more dominate you can just flip it over and the black becomes the more subtle stripe.

We also got more knot dresses in! We added sleeves on them this go around and went a little shorter so you can pair them with over the knee boots and long sweaters. I am wearing the grey one under my cape, but we also have this gorgeous plum color as well. You know my weakness with all things burgundy and plum this year 🙂

4 Pants That Should Be In Your Closet

My closet denim collection has hit a repeat cycle and there are so many cute new cuts and styles for Fall I did a closet refresh this weekend and ordered some new staple styles.

1.) Boyfriend jeans: Boyfriend jeans are such a comfortable option for every day looks, they are easy to throw on and with a great pair of heels you can easily dress up your look. I just ordered these because all my boyfriend jeans are distressed and I wanted a cleaner cut pair.

2.) Skinny jeans: AG has always been one of my favorite brands of denim. They fit me really well and don’t stretch out. They are are my go to brand when I want a new style. I wear this distressed pair probably once a week on my blog and actually have 2 pairs because I literally live in them. They just came out with a high rise skinny that I LOVE. Most of my denim is low rise so I wanted a higher cut for variation.

3.) Flared jeans: There’s nothing like flared denim to really elongate your legs plus it’s a completely different silhouette from a lot of the other pants you probably own so it’s an easy way to break out of your normal routine.

4.) Leather leggings (Under a $100!): It’s that pair of pants you can wear for everything from errands with a pair of tennis shoes and chunky sweater to a night out because it matches and works with everything. I just ordered this cropped pair (exclusive to Shopbop). They are such a good price point and I love that they are cropped. All my other leather leggings are long and I like the cleaner look of flats with cropped leggings so the material isn’t all bunched at the bottom. BlankNYC is one of my favorite brands, not just because they are affordable but they are also great quality. This pair of slim boyfriend jeans I got last summer is one of my all time faves (also under a $100).

Happy Friday guys! Ahhhh I’m obsessed with these shoes! I have been on the hunt for cute white flats and hadn’t seen anything that caught my eye until these! In full honesty I am not much of a Valentino shoe girl, they look so cute on other people but I just never wore them. A few weeks ago I was in Vegas and saw a girl walking down the street in these and had major shoe envy! I was obsessed! I searched all the major retailers and couldn’t find them – so I went to my go to spot for all the rarer styles that are harder to find and they have them! I love when you hunt for something and finally find it! It makes the purchase more exciting 🙂

When it comes to transitioning to fall, accessories are everything. Shoes and bags can do a lot for taking your look from season to season. White out is a major color theme we are seeing this season – also the white and black combo is always a classic you can’t go wrong with. We all have white layers – tops, sweaters, etc.- laying around the closet so opt for nicer accessories to complete your white out look. I love this clutch and this YSL bag or for a sportier look this white backpack is really chic too.

The burgundy and camel are my favorite. This dress I have been wearing on repeat. It’s so comfortable. I am all about easy comfortable pieces you can make look dressy. The olive color is my favorite (It’s the dress from my snapchat and Instagram in California). I wore it with sneakers while we were out walking around and it looks great with tennis shoes too. I am such a shoe girl! It’s always the first thing I check on the new arrivals page whenever I am shopping online, especially heels (how amazing are these one and these ones!). Whether they are dressed up with a skirt or dressed down with distressed boyfriend jeans, shoes 90% of the time make an outfit. You can have the most basic look a tee and jeans, and with killer shoes it transforms it!

Louboutins are always my go-to when I want something that stands out. The So Kate‘s are my favorite style – they are so elegant and feminine and I love the little toe cleavage they give ;). I just got this suede pair and I am obsessed, this pair I have had for years and they go with everything! A closet staple. Next on my wish list is this flared suede pump and this little bootie.

I love Fall so much! Cody was out of town last week so I took the kids up in the mountains to explore. Rocks, puddles, dirt, leaves- it’s like a kid’s paradise. Beckam is really easily distracted right now – it sometimes takes 10 minutes to go 50 feet because he is trying to pick up every rock along the way. Mara and Wes think it’s the funniest thing ever. So we have to bribe him with Fruit Loops in our hand like a little puppy to get him to keep walking.

You always remember your ‘firsts’ and for me, my first pair of UGG boots rank up there. Classic UGG boots were actually the first shoe I saved up for and bought on my own. I loved them from the very beginning when I saw Britney Spears wear them with her denim skirt. (Please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers that look 😉 I was the first person in my high school (and possibly Montana) to wear them. Once I saved up, I had to wait even longer to get to ‘the big city’ to buy them because nobody in Montana sold them at that point. They have always been one of my favorites – I basically live in them during fall and winter whether I’m in sweats or a casual look, or just for running errands. I wear my chestnut pair so much that I ended up getting the same ones in grey. I always spray them with a water protectant before I wear them to help keep them clean during wet fall and winter.

Coordinating family looks is one of my favorite things to do but there aren’t a lot of pieces you can really coordinate when you have both boys and girls. UGG boots are one of those pieces that are so easy to coordinate for the whole family. There are so many styles to choose from that the kids were able to find some that fit their personality. Mara picked out this pair with the bows since it was a little more girly than her brothers’ boots. Wes liked the shorter style but was more worried about matching B so we got them in the same color. I was laughing because all day Wes kept saying, “These are actually really comfortable! They feel like socks!” It was so cute since he normally never comments on stuff like that.

I grew up (elementary school days) an hour and a half outside Seattle so my dad used to take me to Seahawks games growing up. As a little tomboy I looked forward to game days like most people look forward to Christmas, whether we we watching the game at the stadium or from home. Game day was always a huge production at our house.

It’s always fun to have a little competition when you are watching the game. My cousins were Broncos fans so watching games with them was especially fun because the stakes always seemed a little higher if my team lost. I married a big 49ers fan so Cody and I both make sure to wear our team’s shirts on the big day to make sure the other knows where our allegiances lay. 😉 You can check out more of his game day style here.

Your game day apparel is a lot more versatile than just something you would wear to the game. For a casual day outfit, a little accessorizing goes a long way. Adding a light layer like a jacket and a crossbody bag immediately adds a little something extra to your look. To dress up your look even further, tuck your tee into some wide leg trousers with a structured blazer and heels to make it work place appropriate.

We went from 90° last week to 50° and 3 days straight of pouring rain here in Utah so our boots and jackets are out in full force. I’m obsessed with this quilted jacket! YOU NEED IT. That’s all! Beckam had his 18 month appt. yesterday and it hit me what a little boy he is turning into. I love watching him become more aware of the things around him and find so much excitement over the most basic things. The leaves have started to fall and jumping on leaves and hearing them crunch has quickly become one of his favorite things. Babies and toddlers in fall/winter clothes may be one of the cutest things ever. I love this vest for B and can’t get over these hightop sneakers (got them in navy too) – they make him look like such a big kid 🙁 I love and hate it all at the same time.

When I saw this dress it was love at first sight. Sure every once in a while there is a piece that gives you butterflies, but this love stuff is beyond that. 😉 JK but really I was literally tracking my package every day to see how soon it would come. I saved this dress for the last day I was in New York for Fashion Week because you always save the best for last right?!

The YSL velvet clutch I got last year and it just so happened that velvet is all the rage this season. The exact style I couldn’t find anywhere but here is a similar version under a $100 (this one is also under a $100) and a designer version here. I always try to link to similar pieces at all price points so you can recreate outfits at your budget. The dress was definitely harder to find at various price points but this cut out burgundy dress is under $50 and this one is in the $300’s but it’s so beautiful I just ordered it.

Fashion Week is always a whirlwind, from the point I start packing until I’m finally finished unpacking. I try to fit as many shows and events into every day as possible to get a glimpse of all the beautiful designer collections. Plus it’s fun to meet up with great friends I’ve made through the fashion industry and catch up over coffee or good food. Needless to say, I always get back to my hotel room exhausted and excited for the next day. This year they changed up the venue so the shows were spread out through the city. I actually liked it better than previous years because everyone wasn’t so crowded in one place and you got to see different parts of the city, but it definitely meant a lot more walking and traveling. It was a daily adventure getting to each show because the shows run back-to-back on the hour so you have to hustle across town to make it to the next event. Throw in the fact that you’re changing outfits two to three times a day and trying to share a live feed so everyone can see the beautiful shows – and it gets chaotic. My phone was dead by like noon everyday (thank goodness for portable charger packs!)

I wore this look for the Nicole Miller show on Friday night. Maxi dresses are so low maintenance that they are always one of my top picks when I am running around. It’s easy to add to it with simple elements like a blazer and belt, and then all you need is a statement bag (in love!) to take it to the next level.

If I have learned anything about dressing for Fashion Week it’s that you can’t wear your 5 inch heels all day! I am always either hiding a comfortable pair of flats in my bag (these have cushion support in the sole I wore these everywhere! Love the leopard version too!) or wearing a low kitten heel so my feet aren’t crazy sore by the end of the day. Shoes shouldn’t slow you down, even if they are heels. 😛 This burgundy Rockport pair has tons of cushioning – they were super comfortable.
