Reasons to go makeup free

DETAILS: AVEENO ULTRA CALMING MOISTURIZER

I’m so excited to be teaming up with Aveeno and PEOPLE magazine to go make up free for today’s post. I think embracing our natural beauty is so important and such a beautiful expression of who we are. I know that sounds so cheesy, but within your natural beauty and imperfections you find individuality. I know it can be intimidating, at least for me somedays it is. I’ve caught myself being like yikes I need make up today 🙂 but I’ve found simple things like a great moisturizer make such a difference. I love this Aveeno one to help with redness so you don’t have to worry about skipping foundation because there really is nothing better for our skin and confidence then just letting your natural beauty shine. Here’s why:

  1. I love makeup, but sometimes it can distract from (or cover up completely!) your natural features that make you unique and beautiful. Whether it’s those freckles or bare lashes, sometimes it’s those things you try to cover up that make you beautiful.
  2. Just because you might think you look better with a face full of makeup doesn’t mean everyone agrees. Cody has always preferred when I go bare-faced, so when I do tone down my beauty routine he’s always the first to notice.
  3. The no-makeup beauty look is everywhere right now and hands down the one look everyone can master! With the fresh face look having such a moment right now, it’s the best time to embrace your natural beauty and skip your makeup routine altogether. Being happy with who you are and letting yourself shine through is the key to confidence. Ok ok, I know it sounds cheesy and like something you would read on your local newspaper’s horoscope, but it’s true! Learn to love yourself and everyone else will too. True beauty starts within 🙂

I’ve always had a thing for spring (who doesn’t?!) but especially when it comes to wardrobe options. There are always so many amazing pieces from floral prints to pretty pastels that always get me right in the soft spot so I wanted to share a round up of some great budget friendly pieces. Below are some pieces every girl should update for the season (all under $100!):

  • Nail polish: I’m always switching up my nail polish depending on the season. A lot of times when spring hits I’m ready to pull out the bright colors but lately I’ve been drawn to the softer shades. So obsessed with this whole spring nail polish set – all 6 colors are amazing for spring!
  • Candles: Anyone who knows me knows I almost always have a candle burning. I can never get enough! Candles are one thing you almost have to update seasonally and this rose-scented candle is one you will definitely have lit all spring.
  • Sneakers: Sure I’ll never trade in my black sneakers, but the pretty pastel styles only come around once in a while so when you find a pair of Nikes in the perfect shade of mint, don’t hesitate! (Also comes in the prettiest shade of blue 🙂 Love this bright red style too.
  • Sun hats: Nothing says goodbye winter like a straw hat. Love this floppy style and this gorgeous blue one.

Easy Travel Beauty Routine

Beauty Travel Essentials Hello Fashion

Mia Fit Clarisonic

Travel Skin Care Routine

Clarisonic Hello Fashion

DETAILS: CLARISONIC MIA FIT DEVICE

We are off on another trip this week (we never say no to the beach 😉 and while traveling I like to simplify my beauty routine as much as possible. When it comes to packing, I’d rather use my luggage space for clothes and shoes (haha I am always pushing 50 lbs!!) so I scale down my makeup routine. Below are some musts for a quick, easy beach beauty routine.

  1. Stay hydrated: Between the poolside piña coladas or morning coffee to deal with jet lag, you might think you are getting enough liquids but don’t forget the water. Staying hydrated is beauty trick #101 for flawless skin.
  2. Clean face: The first step to a perfect beach beauty routine is a clean face. I have really sensitive skin so I love my Clarisonic. It’s so gentle but still gets that deep clean that leaves your skin smooth and radiant so you can get away with little to no makeup.  The Mia FIT is the perfect size for travel so it’s a no-brainer for any getaway.beautytravel3
  3. Falsies: I almost always get eyelash extensions before we head on a beach getaway. Since over half our time is spent in the water, bleeding mascara never looks good on anyone, so I go for semi permanent lashes that stay on for a couple weeks. It makes getting ready so much faster when you can skip curling your lashes and applying mascara.
  4. Moisturize: Chalk it up to years of living in the dry Utah desert, but I can never skip moisturizer. It gives your skin that healthy, dewy glow and you can get one with a tint for extra coverage and of course SPF (love this one).
  5. Lips: Your lips need just as much attention as your skin does, so don’t forget SPF and moisturizer for your selfie-ready beach look. I swear by this one – it is so moisturizing plus comes in lots of different pretty but subtle shades for a natural look. (Tip: Use your Clarisonic to scrub your lips at night for that extra smooth pucker 🙂
  6. Hair: Between the beach and the pool, any effort you put into your hair might be short lived. Aside from the fail-safe messy top knot, you can’t go wrong with a pretty fishtail or half-up top knot for that easy beachy vibe. I always love to add a little texturizing spray to give it that beachy texture.

The sun has come out the last couple weeks and I have major Spring fever! I love incorporating that bright feeling into our home with fresh pastels and bright palettes. I wanted to share 5 easy ways to spice up your kitchen for Spring:

  1. Colorful plates: Whatever your current dishes, you can introduce some pretty pastels without having to completely replace your set.  Instead, pick out a few plates in a pretty spring hue and stack them to mix textures and colors for a perfect spring place setting.
  2. Linens: Small details are such an easy way to transition your kitchen from season to season. Kitchen towels and linen napkins are one of those details – there are so many pretty options to brighten up your kitchen for spring. Love this colorful floral option and this pretty patterned set. Also love this napkin set and this teal set patterned.
  3. Put it on display: Some of the best spring colors are the ones from the fresh fruits or vegetables around the kitchen, so don’t hesitate to display it in a pretty bowl! It doubles as a perfect centerpiece.
  4. Fresh flowers: I will never say no to fresh flowers around the house, and spring makes it even easier. Whether it’s from freshly picked wild flowers or a pretty bouquet from the farmers market, they are the perfect addition to any kitchen. Love these pretty glass vases and how gorgeous cool is this one?
  5. There are so many other great details that are an excuse to bring in some extra color to your space. It seems like with wedding season and all the registries ahead there are lots of great pieces coming out right now. I  love the selection at Anthropologie – they have so many cute things on their registry page I get a little carried away haha. But it works out because I always like to keep a couple gifts on hand for weddings, bridal showers, house-warming gifts, etc. Here are some of my favorites:

anthro2
I just got this throw too. It’s so soft and I love all the textures on it. This was one of my favorite pics from our shoot I love how the flowers look against the green velvet!

B turns two in less than a month! It’s really hit me these last couple days how old he’s getting. I feel like two is the age when your babies are officially toddlers. I’m just not ready to accept he’s growing up, but I do have to admit each stage really does get better (and harder!! Holy cow he is strong willed!). It’s like he’s my little buddy that just follows me around copying everything I do. He’s so inquesitive about everything. His favorite word right now is Thank you – It sounds more like “Hank Ew” but it’s the cutest thing, and he will say when it doesn’t even make sense to say it, it’s so funny.  I did a Spring clean this weekend and almost half his clothes don’t fit anymore. Another reality check he’s growing too fast!! I got him some new stuff and he looks like such a mini grown up. Cody and I were dying over these little distressed jeans (seriously, how cute are these?!) I also love these striped knit t-shirts (also comes in v-neck). Every season I end up getting B new sneakers his feet grow so fast! I always get a pair here – they are one of my favorites and easy to get on which I like!
I got this cute chambray top for Mara and this striped shift dress. I also found some great light layers for Wes like this bomber jacket and this knit sweater on sale for under $10. And of course I got some stuff for myself 🙂 I love these cropped jeans because they show more of your shoes. Especially when you have sneakers or flats on it’s easy for your jeans to bunch at the bottom and I like having more ankle exposed especially for Spring/Summer. I love this fringy top – it’s on sale for $15 and I just got these blush sneakers for under $25 🙂
Hope you all had a great long weekend! XX, Christine

The kids and I have always loved to do crafts together so every year we make Valentines for someone in the family. They totally get in the spirit creating and sending out their own Valentines to friends and family. I love adding a personal touch (found this really easy DIY valentine’s card on Pinterest!) and of course you can’t forget about the chocolates. Chocolate is Wes and Beckam’s absolute favorite treat. They always get really excited on Valentine’s Day because they know there’s bound to be extra chocolate in the house during that time.

Godiva Chocolates

I always let the kids pick out what they want to get for the family and this year we chose to show our love through a PDG (Public Display of GODIVA) with GODIVA’s new Coupes d’amour collection and the Red Keepsake Heart Box (how pretty is the packaging!).  There were so many different flavors in each box that of course we had to taste test 😉 The kids kept diving into the chocolate while we were making the cards and cracking up because whenever B gets his hands on some chocolate somehow half of it ends up on his face – the kids think it’s hilarious.

With both of us working multiple jobs and some overlap between, one thing Cody and I have learned is how to make the most of our time together. As far as work and planning, we always have weekly meetings to go over our goals, schedule, and plans for the upcoming week either at home or at a new spot we’ve found somewhere in the city. It seems like during that time it’s still hard to disconnect from our other jobs. We might both get 20 texts and a handful of phone calls over the course of our meeting, so 30 minutes might turn into 2 hours. We’ve made it a rule to set our phones aside so we are effective during that time. But sometimes there’s urgent things, and I am a freak about being away from B so I am always texting the babysitter checking to make sure he’s ok (ya I’m that crazy annoying mom! 🙂

Cody and I both recently got the Movado Bold Motion, Engineered by HP smartwatch which allows us to unplug for a little bit without going completely off-grid. With the smartwatch we can set our own priorities and alerts so we know when we are getting texts or calls from family, the babysitter or other work calls we are waiting on. It lights up so cool I always get kind of excited lol. It makes it so much easier to stay productive and make the most of our planning time together. I’ve always loved the look of a boyfriend watch and this one is sleek and easy to transform from a busy day to a date night. While disconnecting is very important to us, this smartwatch is definitely one of those fashion pieces that does double duty by helping you keep track of important updates so you can make the most of your 24 hours.

You can see more of this look on Cody’s Blog here.
