Hey guys! Today I’m flashing back to some of my most popular fall looks from last year. A lot of the pieces I linked to are now sold out so I searched for similar pieces from this season’s collections to get the same look. It’s funny, you think fashion is always changing so fast but looking back these are still some of my favorite looks for fall and ones that are still on trend this season.

I hope you all have a Happy Halloween! Can’t wait to see everyone’s pics and costumes. 🙂

On My Mind…

No rhyme or reason to these pics. I got a new phone (B has now broken mine 3 times!! – you think I would learn by now 🙂 and was just looking through pics and thought I’d share the random things from the last couple weeks.

b cheesing out

His cheesiest of cheese but it kills me how much I love him! I swear this kid smiles on point. He will be having the biggest melt down or doing something naughty and I will B like “B knock it off or you’re going to time out!” and he will bust out this smile and I can’t help but bust out laughing. He is pure trouble.

family pumpkin patch

I have so many pics from when Mara and Wes were minis carrying pumpkins. I don’t know why but the pumpkin patch pictures are always so special to me.

BURGUNDY CAPE | BURGUNDY OVER THE KNEE BOOTS | BEIGE HANDBAG | DENIM

It’s a toss between burgundy and olive for my favorite colors for fall. My feet have been getting more sore lately, so I have been wearing flats more than usual. These over the knee boots are my favorite. I got this color last year and loved them so much I got the burgundy this year. I know they are a splurge but I wear mine 2-3 days out of the week. Worth the investment, but here is a more budget friendly alternative.

beckam singing

B is obsessed with music! Whether we are in the car, a restaurant, the mall, a bathroom, wherever, the second he hears a beat or any sort of song he shakes it. Even if it’s the most random music you would never dance to he throws his hands up and starts laughing. Cody sent me this pic the other day when he was home with him with the message “this song goes out to you mom” and it melted my heart. And for the record it’s a huge victory if anyone makes it out of the house with matching socks 🙂

TAN SHRUG | DISTRESSED DENIM | FRINGE BOOTIES | SUNGLASSES || CODY’S OUTFIT: DENIM JACKET | BLACK DENIM | SILVER WATCH | SUNGLASSES

The other day I posted a picture of Cody and I on Instagram and someone was commenting about how they were tired of all the smiles and wanted to see more real life. I hope you all know I by no means want to portray our life to be perfect. There are days Cody drives me nuts and I sure as heck know there are days I’m crazy and emotional over nothing and he’s probably like she’s crazy! I just obviously don’t have my camera out during those moments and would feel weird posting a picture of myself crying or something. I think everyone goes through struggles and honestly I am thankful for the hard times because it always makes me appreciate the good ones. I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate some of those up and down moments into the blog… so just know it’s on my mind… just figuring out how to loop it all in.

PUMPKIN SWEATSHIRT | DENIM | FRINGE BOOTIES | SUNGLASSES  || B’S OUTFIT: PUMPKIN SHIRT (SIMILAR HERE) | HUNTER BOOTS

I think we wore this twinner outfit three of four times so far. I tried to get Cody to wear a pumpkin shirt too when we were in Oregon and he just laughed. Looking back I can see how that may have been taking it too far lol, but hey twinning is winning 😉 Also these fringe booties have been on my posts a lot. I am obsessed with them!

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

Wes lost his first tooth this weekend!! We were at lunch and he realized it was loose, then literally an hour later we were eating donuts and it fell out! Mara’s took weeks to fall out once they came loose. He was SOOSOOOOO excited!! We turned the rest of the day into a party and let him pick whatever he wanted to do. We went for a hike to this little waterfall, let him veg out on candy, then pick out a new toothbrush for the big day 🙂

BLUSH KNIT SWEATER || WHITE DISTRESSED DENIM || LACE UP HEELS ||SILVER WATCH

This was probably one of my favorite outfits of all time. You can see more pics and the full outfit post here.

mom and son costume

Ok this is a throwback from last year when B and I were coordinating in our monkey-banana costume (I swear the only way I know to spell banana is from Gwen Stefani’s song B-A-N-A-N-A-S!) but I am soooo excited for Halloween because I feel like this year he will actually get what’s going on.  Man I miss those chubby little cheeks!

pumpkin and hunters

Gosh I feel like he’s such a little boy these days. He makes all these silly faces and has so much personality (sometimes it’s pure attitude!) but I die over his little hunters! Hunters and Converse were the first pair of shoes I got for B when I knew I was having a boy.

Hope you all are enjoying your week! Lots of love!

I’m such a sucker for shoes, and fall and winter give me major boot fever.  I’m obsessed with these cute boots for under $80 (they come in four colors!). Olive green is one of my favorite colors this season and it actually matches with almost anything! I always feel like it’s a big score when you can find cute boots under $100 since shoes are usually so expensive.
Steve Madden has so many cute styles right now that are really similar to high-end boots like these over the knee ones and these cute neutral ones. Below are a few more of my favorite boots all under $150.

Between the 50° mornings and the 80 degree afternoons (well into October I might add!) light layers are my best friend right now. I can’t wait for temperatures to drop again (I know I’ll regret saying this later :). Layers give you so many options and versatility with the rest of your wardrobe.  I love this long cardigan (also comes in blush). The length makes it more of a statement element that is a cool touch to a simple look, whether distressed boyfriend jeans or a feminine wrap dress.

BECKAM: JACKET (ON SALE UNDER $15) | HOODED HENLEY (ON SALE) | RAIN BOOTS

We took a last minute trip to Portland a couple weekends ago. I had been dying to go to Multnomah Falls and it was everything I hoped it would be! The falls were so beautiful! I am a huge sucker for waterfalls and trees. I went to elementary school in Washington so I grew up surrounded by lush greens so it was a little nostalgic for me 🙂 I was so excited for B and I to finally wear our matching hunters. I got them forever ago but we haven’t had any rain in Utah forever. I also forgot how bad rain (even mist) messes up my hair! I stupidly curled my hair one of the days and with in 10 minutes of being outside it was completely flat and frizzy. So don’t mind the hot mess of my hair in these pics!

We were only in Oregon for 2 days. If I could do it all over I would take like 3-4 days: do a day in Portland, a day on the outskirts seeing all the falls and the gorge, then drive to the coast. I thought the coast was a lot closer and we would be able to see both but it was a couple hour drive. I wanted to share a mini travel guide of some of the spots we loved and some we thought were so so.

  1. Multonamah Falls – It’s about 30-40 minutes outside of Portland, beautiful drive along the Columbia River. There are a lot of little falls along the way you can stop and see too. The trail is super easy maybe a mile hike so it’s easy to do with kids.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
  2. Voodoo Donuts – It’s insane this place ALWAYS has a line. We drove by a couple times and every time it was packed! The locals said the donut shop is more of a hype and sent us to other spots but once we tried the other spots we actually liked voodoo’s better. Cody and I like more of the classic donuts verse the fancy donuts so this was more our style.
  3. 23rd Street – This was probably my favorite part of Portland. It’s a really cute street full of boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. It felt like a scene from a movie, the streets were covered with fall leaves, not super busy it seemed more like the locals out walking around. Almost all the restaurants have seating that faces the street so we got some ice cream and just sat and people watched for awhile.
  4. Salt and Straw – The line is insane at this place too. I’ve decided people like standing in line here it’s crazy everywhere we went had lonnnng waits but this ice-cream was like nothing I had tried before. So yummy! I got Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Cody got a strawberry balsamic or something and both were really good. Some of the flavors had the most random ingredients that you think wouldn’t taste good (like balsamic, olive oil, or blue cheese) but every one we tried was really really good.
  5. Powell’s Books – This is the world’s largest used book store. It’s huge, runs a block long. We didn’t even make it through the whole thing. I love reading with the kids and we get them a book everywhere we go so this was at the top of my list for stops.Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
  6. Waterfront – There are so many cool bridges all along the waterfront. We just pulled down a random street and found a spot that went down and had a dock to let B play and explore. There are trails that go along the river as well, but we didn’t get a chance to go on any so I can’t recommend a lot there.
  7. Pearl District – Everyone told us to go here and honestly I didn’t think it was amazing (other than the bookstore). I think I just expected it to be different in my head… it’s supposed to have a good night life (great bars and pubs) but we don’t really go out a ton so maybe it’s cooler at night. Also there was a ton of homeless people. We saw one person completely passed out being drug down the street.
  8. Pittock Mansion – The drive up to the mansion is super pretty if you love trees (especially because it was fall) the colors were rich and the trees are huge. We walked around the mansion pretty fast – but there is a cool look out point you can see the whole city. The woods right next to the mansion are so thick and erie but really pretty. They have hiking trails around it if you want to explore.
  9. Mother’s Bistro – This place is also really busy. We went on a Sunday for brunch so that might have been part of the problem, but the food was really good. I had the crunchy french toast and Cody had the Eggs Benedict. There orange juice is fresh squeezed (my favorite!) so make sure you get that too. The coffee mugs and aprons all say “Call your mom” it’s cute.

Pumpkin patches are our thing.  It was always a family tradition growing up so I’ve loved bringing it into my own family now. We’ve been, not one, two, but three times so far this year. We go to different ones every time, I like to think of it as the tour de pumpkins, ha, I just made that up, but really I just LOVE the feeling of the season you get at the patch. Beckam’s all time favorite thing right now is balls, and all the round little pumpkins get B so excited he thinks it’s a field of his favorite toy. He tries to pick up about every other pumpkin we pass – half are three times his size but he still tries to move them and make them roll. It’s the cutest thing.

This textured white sweater I got last week for under $50 and I love this pair of ankle rain bootsFlannels are a must-have for the whole family (I just got Beckam this one and I love this sale print (under $20!) They are the perfect layering piece and are easy to dress up or down plus they are an easy way to coordinate a family look without going too matchy. Also the burgundy scarf I wore today is on sale under $20 🙂 They have lots of cute colors and it’s really soft.

Fall is hands down my favorite time of year. Between the wardrobe options and the leaves changing, there’s no battle. One of our favorite things to do during this time of year is to walk around the neighborhood or go for a drive just to enjoy the colors. I always find the prettiest leaves driving through random neighborhoods! I can’t count how many times we’ve been driving around and pulled over to get out (whether we have time for it or not 😉 and get a closer look at the leaves changing colors. B loves the leaves as much as I do, but for a different reason. He gets a kick out of stomping all over the fallen leaves and hearing them crunch.

Fall is also one of my favorite times for fashion. Between the chunky scarves, oversized sweaters, and boot options, if I could dress like everyday was fall I would. This bootie is one of my favorite new boots for fall. I love the light fringe tassel. A lot of boots with fringe go all out but with the subtle fringe and strappy details this pair reads sophisticated but still has that current edge.

I am so excited to share this Halloween shoot we did a couple weeks ago! Growing up, Halloween wasn’t a big deal at our house but since I’ve moved to Utah it’s an all out event. Cody’s family is really into Halloween. His sister is super crafty and goes all out with amazing decor! Cody and I wanted to do something more dramatic this year so we got together with one of my photographers and came up with this skeleton concept.

The hair and makeup took about 4 hours. Jill hand painted the lace on my neck which was the most time consuming but I love all the detail! It has always been my dream to wear an Oscar de La Renta dress and this one literally took my breath away when I opened the box. It’s so beautiful! I love getting dressed up but rarely have an occasion to wear full ball gowns. That’s one thing I love about Halloween – you get to pretend to be anything you want and wear those special pieces you may not have the chance to wear on a typical day, whether it’s a gown or that dress you’ve been eyeing in the back of your closet. Plus with so many parties leading up to Halloween, you don’t have to choose just one costume! I have a few more ideas for our family Halloween party so stay tuned next week 🙂

Emmy Inspired Hair with GHD

Emmy Inspired Hair Tutorial

hello fashion hair

DETAILS: GHD PLATINUM STYLER (20% OFF CODE: HELLOFASHION20) | OFF THE SHOULDER DRESS (ALSO LOVE THIS ONE)

Hey guys! If you follow me on snapchat (@hellofashblog) you might have seen a sneak peek of my trip to L.A. a couple weeks ago to recreate some of the hairstyles from the Emmys with ghd. I spent the day with celebrity hairstylist David Babaii and learned so many little tricks from watching him style. Today I’m sharing a recreation of the January Jones look with the new ghd Platinum styler. The new styler is amazing! It makes your hair silky smooth and adds more shine to your hair. It’s actually designed for colored hair and so it keeps your color for up to 2 times longer. Check out my video below for a tutorial on how to achieve the Emmy inspired look.

  1. Part your hair down the middle. I always part mine just slightly to the side because it frames my face more.
  2. Divide your hair into 3 sections – two in the front on each side and one in the back.
  3. Starting with the back, use the ghd Platinum styler to straighten strands about 1 inch wide. The styler has a curved edge so you can add a light curl at the ends without worrying about weird kinks.
  4. When you work your way around to the front sections, rotate the styler 180 degrees before you pull it down through the ends of your hair. You can use this tip just for the section framing your face for a sleeker feel or I added more dimension by doing it through two additional sections.
  5. For that last January Jones touch, tuck one section behind your ear and you are ready for anything from the red carpet to girls night out.

I’m not saying this because I’ve partnered with ghd for this post, but I am obsessed with this tool. My hair looks night and day different when I straighten it with my platinum styler verses my old straightener. I especially notice the shine! From now through November 23rd you can get 20% of all purchases through ghd with code: HelloFashion20. You will love it!

If there is any color shoe every girl should own it’s nude. I would even put my money on nude over black. It does with everything. You probably already have a classic nude pump in her closet but I especially love this pair because they take that basic nude pump to another level. Start with even the most basic outfit and the shoe will still make a statement on its own. Aquazzura is known for their signature lace-up style and I especially love it in suede with this pair. They also zip up in the back so it’s nice that you don’t have to lace them up every time you wear them.

As a major shoe lover the lace up shoe trend that we are seeing across the board has got me excited, especially with all the options from high-end to budget-friendly.  The detail instantly gives any look a more interesting vibe. Wearing a cropped trouser or skinny jeans can show off the most detail of the shoe but it’s also a great option to wear with your flares for that needed height. If you are going for a more casual look, distressed jeans can make any pair of heels feel dressed down or get the same effect with a relaxed boyfriend fit.

I’m so excited to partner with Saks – it is one of my go-to shops for designer shoes and they have a great selection of lace-up flats (love this pair!), heels, and booties (just ordered these) right now. Check out a few more of my favorites below.
