I can’t believe November is coming to an end already! I swear the last two months fly by faster than the whole year! hope you guys got some good buys this weekend between Black Friday and the Cyber Monday sales! You guys know I love finding matching pieces for the family, but I also love when I can find subtle ways for everyone to coordinate. Our whole family is really into Nike – Beckam loves to copy everything Cody does and wears and Wes is really into sports so it’s fun for them all to be somewhat coordinated. I found some super cute Nike pieces under $20 for the kids at Gordmans a couple weeks ago and (much needed) finds for Wes who is growing like a horse! He’s only 7 and is already wearing size 10-12 (everyone thinks he’s older than Mara) – he’s already outgrown all of his long sleeve layers from last year I purposely bought a size up in, so I’ve had to basically start from scratch again and get him all new shirts. Not that I’m really complaining because I will take any excuse to do more shopping. 😉

I also found these boots for me under $20 and found a Levi’s pair for Cody that he really liked.

I was actually really surprised how good a toy selection they had for the kids too. We have started shopping early this year and a lot of the toys were items I hadn’t seen at other department stores, like some cute trolls stuff (Mara is obsessed with trolls right now!). We picked up a few holiday knick knacks and how amazing is this light pendant (under $30). They have so much stuff in-store that isn’t online so I would really say go look in store! You can score a couple online deals like these boots under $20.

How cute is this baby Christmas tree!?! I love it!!!

Hey guys! Omg these last few days have been so busy! We are spending Thanksgiving with my family in Montana so we have been rushing all weekend to get everything done for work early so we can shut down and enjoy time with the family. It’s not supposed to get warmer than low 40s this week in Montana so I’m excited to pull out this Canada Goose Parka – I had my eye on these parkas forever before I got one and love how clean and polished this black one is. And there’s nothing like an embellished pair of boots to off-set a simpler, cozy look so adding a statement shoe to your Thanksgiving travel plans will go a long way. I’ve worn this pair and these sneakers non-stop since I got them – so good!

I always get so excited for Black Friday but also a little anxious because literally there are sales at all of my favorite retailers and I want to hit them before everything sells out, haha! Christmas has exploded in our house! We already have our tree up, I’ve been blasting Christmas music, and of course we already have our Christmas pajamas out.

It snowed for the first time last week and I was kind of dreading it at first when they were forecasting it, but once I was cozy under my covers and the snow started to fall I got all sorts of excited. 🙂 Cody and I laid in bed with out bedroom patio doors open, layered on the blankets, and just watched the snow fall. It really made it feel like the holidays are officially here.

I’ve been on a Christmas pajama buying binge these last two weeks. I literally bought like 10 pairs last week! Not all for myself haha, but for friends and family too. I love getting holiday jammies and they make for the best presents – here are 6 reasons why.

Who doesn’t love cute pajamas?: vIf you spend a third of you life sleeping, there’s no point in doing it in pajamas you don’t love. 😉 Am I right?! Obsessed with this buffalo check set and this plaid night shirt was one of my favorite finds.
You won’t feel guilty about letting them open this present early: The whole point of Christmas pajamas is to be able to wear them all month long right? So in this case, the sooner they get to open this gift the better!
It will turn into a favorite family tradition: The matching Christmas jammies has become a big tradition with my cousins.
They double as great winter layers: We got Beckam these pajamas and the green pajama shirt has been pulling double duty as an undershirt. Pajama sets always come in a good selection of colors so they are great ways to add some depth and interest to kids’ looks as an undershirt.
Your family pictures will thank you: I know I can’t be the only one who likes to coordinate everyone’s outfits lol. Everybody has their cameras out during the holidays so why not be prepared? Matching pajamas family photos are the best family photos. I’m obsessed with this striped onesie for the kids (comes in multiple colors/patterns) and got this striped set and love this striped one in both red and grey.
They won’t break the bank: Picking out presents can be risky but pajamas are one present that you can guarantee will get plenty of use and without putting a big dent in your Christmas budget. I love this striped set and how cute is this one piece – both under $20.
To get in the holiday spirit: Your PJs are the first thing you see when you wake up and the last thing you see before you fall asleep, so add a dose of holiday spirit – is there any better way to start and end every day this season??

Happy Sunday Guys! Not sure about you guys but we are getting pretty excited over here for all of the Thanksgiving festivities. Of course Thanksgiving is all about great food and I love to try new recipes for a few things each year. This year I focused on finding some delicious pie recipes that were different than the traditional pumpkin pies. Hope you guys enjoy some of these yummy alternatives!

CHOCOLATE CARAMEL FRENCH SILK PIE

| Makes: 8 Servings|

Ingredients:

Crust:

20 Oreo cookies (regular-stuffed, keep filling intact)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Caramel:

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 tablespoons heavy cream
1 tablespoon sour cream

Filling:

2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
2/3 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons confectioners’ sugar

Topping:

1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate shavings, if desired

APPLE CUSTARD PIE WITH CINNAMON STREUSEL

| Makes: 9 Servings|

Ingredients:

1 9-inch pie crust
5 large apples
half a lemon
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice

For the custard layer:

1 and 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon sour cream
5 large egg yolks (not the whites)
1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 and 1/2 cups white sugar
6 tablespoons flour

For the streusel topping:

1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into chunks

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE

| Makes: 9 Servings|

Ingredients:

For crust:

1 package (approximately 36) Oreo Cookies, finely crushed
6 teaspoons melted butter
¼ teaspoon salt

For filling:

2 cups heavy/whipping cream
1 and ½ cups powdered/confectioners’ sugar, divided
1 and ½ cups peanut butter
12 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
2 Tablespoons milk
½ cup peanut butter chips (or chocolate chips)

For topping:

8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
½ cup heavy cream
Chopped peanuts, or chopped peanut butter cups, for garnish

OLD FASHION BUTTERSCOTCH PIE

| Makes: 8 Servings|

Ingredients:

For the Pie
1 refrigerated Pie Crust (I use the one in the red box)
1 stick of Good Quality Butter
1 ½ Cups dark brown sugar
4 egg yolks (save the whites for the meringue)
5 ½ Tbs all-purpose flour
¼ tsp kosher salt
1 ½ Cups scalded milk
For the Meringue
4 egg whites
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract. Instructions

SAMOAS BOMB PIE

| Makes: 8-12 Servings|

Ingredients:

2 packages Coconut Dreams or Samoas Cookies, broken into pieces
1 refrigerated pie crust
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornmeal (or almond flour, or flour)
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Gently unroll refrigerated pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
Fill the pie crust with the broken cookie pieces.
Whisk together the butter, sugar, cornmeal, vinegar, and vanilla. Mix in the eggs (add them last so that the other ingredients bring down the temperature of the melted butter first– no one wants scrambled eggs in their pie!) until smooth and creamy looking.
Pour the mixture over the cookie pieces. Gently prod the pieces with a spatula to ensure that all of the cookie pieces have been coated in the chess filling mixture.
Bake for 35-45 minutes (37 minutes usually does it for me). Everything should look firm around the edges and SLIGHTLY jiggly in the middle.
Let cool before serving (otherwise you won’t be able to make clean cuts– but if you don’t mind that, dig right in!). Cover in plastic wrap and store at room temperature for up to a week.

Omg right after we shot this Cody and I realized it has been SO LONG since we’ve done a true outfit together. We used to do them weekly and it’s just been so busy lately I miss shooting with this cute guy. 😉

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about building a wardrobe it’s that you should always invest in those closet staples that you will wear forever. ALWAYS DENIM, outerwear, and core style sweaters, bags – pieces that you can wear over and over again. I feel like you get to a certain point (after testing out so many different styles) when you discover your own aesthetic (although I feel personal style is always evolving) and you know your taste well enough to be able to start investing in those pieces.

AG has been one of my favorite brands forever. I would say over 50% of all my denim is AG! It was the first pair of ‘designer’ jeans I ever bought right after high school and saved for months to get them (less eating out more top ramen 😉 college priorities!) When Cody and I started dating it was the first designer pair I bought for him as well! Their denim is so stretchy and comfortable and they last forever. You guys all know I live in distressed jeans, this legging ankle jean is probably the most worn pair of jeans on my blog of all time! You’ve also seen this pair on my blog a lot recently (loving the wide leg trend!) and this black pair I just added (also got this high-waisted leatherette style). The cropped ankle styles are perfect for fall, especially when it comes to styling your ankle boots. Also if you’re shopping for your man, this pair of denim I just got for Cody is his new favorite. It’s skinny and has subtle distresseding, I love them on him!

They also have so many great layers right now – I love texture on this white sweater and also got this grey one. All of their basics are so good and will last forever – I still have this cream cashmere sweater I bought from them 2-3 years ago that’s in perfect condition. I also love their outerwear options right now – Cody and I both have multiple of their denim jackets and how amaaazing is this biker jacket??

I am soooo excited for Christmas. I’ve said it once, and you will probably hear me say it 20 more times lol. It really is the best time of year! The kids are already wearing Christmas pajamas and we are getting our tree out next week! Ahhh! It’s going to be full blown Christmas at our house.

One of my favorite parts of the season is picking out gifts for my family and friends. It seems like there are two groups of gifters – those that have all their shopping done before December 1st and those that procrastinate until the week before Christmas. Typically I’m ALWAYS the latter. I end up still buying gifts and random stocking stuffers literally the day before Christmas! I’m trying so hard to be better about it and start early!

We always go home to Montana for Thanksgiving so my idea this year (to help with the horrible procrastination) was to pick out a few small gifts I could wrap and take up over Thanksgiving. This is one of my favorite pieces that we’ve added in multiple colors. You can wear the lace up loose so it hangs off the shoulder or tie it tighter so it rest on your shoulders.

Guys! It’s finally here! I am sooooo excited to share with you! We have poured endless hours, late nights, and lots of caffeine 😉 into this new ILY collection! It is our biggest launch to date! Over 50 new pieces and I can’t tell you how truly excited and passionate I am about every single piece. So thankful for our amazing team that works so hard to make it all happen! ILY has been my baby for over 5 years. I actually started my online store before I had my blog. It’s evolved into a completely different space then when we started, and I’m going to be sharing more of that journey on here. 🙂

3 Combos To Transition Your Holiday Dresses Through the Season

With all of the upcoming holidays this season, you’re guaranteed to have more occasions to dress up for than you know what to do with. To make the most of your holiday wardrobe, it’s all about finding holiday dresses you can take from Thanksgiving dinner through your New Year celebrations.

Thanksgiving: Who doesn’t think of sitting around the table with loved ones and eating until you can’t take another bite? (I would say until the food runs out, but is that even a thing on Thanksgiving??) For a more dramatic look, add a full skirt over your dress.

Nordstrom has so many amazing holiday dresses right now – I love all the velvet this season! I’m always ordering tons or pieces to try things together and mix and match pieces so the free shipping and returns makes it really easy and helps avoid all the drama of shopping with all the kids! I also feel like whenever you try things at home it looks so much different than the store.

I just ordered this Eliza J Cascade skirt and this pretty dress and how pretty is this one by Vince Camuto?
