8 Summer Dress Trends Everyone Should Try

Hey guys! The kids and I surprised my parents in Montana last week and it was such a good trip. It was at my family cabin where we go every summer and it was so good to be able to get some fresh air and hang out with family. Being with family always feels like the best way to recharge!

I don’t know if it’s just living out of a suitcase for a few days or living in loungewear all summer, but I am itching to put on a pretty dress! There are so many good summer dress trends right now that are going to pass us by, haha so whether you have family photos coming up, an intimate backyard wedding, or are just anxious to trade in your sweats, here are some of my favorite summer dresses online – all under $150!

DROPPED HEMS: This dress comes in three colors and each one is just as good as the next. I love the dropped hem and it’s an amazing price point under $50!

OFF THE SHOULDER: Nothing handles summer heat as gracefully as an off the shoulder dress. I love the silhouette of this one – showing some skin makes the polka dots feel a little more grown up.

RUFFLED UP: I, for one, have always said yes to a good ruffle, but if you worry about it being overwhelming or too feminine, try it with a shorter hem. I could NOT believe the price tag on this one – soooo good!

BRIGHT + BOLD: In a sea of neutrals that is my closet, I’m always craving some color. There are so many bold colors and no easier way to wear them than in a simple silhouette, like a dress. Love this bold yellow and I’m on a major neon streak – I could wear this dress on repeat!

BACKLESS BEAUTY: Never underestimate the effect of understated drama. I’m obsessed with all the back details on dresses this season. Love this cute tea dress with an open back. (Also can’t wait to wear it this fall with sheer tights and combat boots!)

RUCHED + READY: The ruched mini dress is probably my favorite addition to the summer dress trends line-up. It’s form flattering, flirty, and they have so many print and color combos that the possibilities are endless! This one is on major sale and comes in the prettiest yellow too.

LACED UP: What better way to update the lace trim than with a chic, modern silhouette? The high neckline of this dress paired with a short hem feels so young and elegant. Can’t believe this one is under $100!

MAXI MOMENT: Last but not least, the maxi dress! Free People always has the best summer dresses and did not disappoint this season. Obsessed with this lilac one!

Date nights have been a little bit different lately for everyone – not your typical dinner and a movie. Cody and I have been trying to switch things up a bit and put our heads together to get creative. Dates are so important, and even more so now! A lot of couples are spending more time than ever, but rubbing elbows working in a confined space together, helping out with chores around the house, etc. is way different than quality, date time together. One thing Cody & I have been trying to do lately is get outside and be active for our dates. I’ve actually loved it more than your usual date because we really focus on each other more and feels great to take advantage of beautiful days by moving around!

Couples who workout together stay together right? The other day we decided to dust off our tennis rackets and go get a little competitive. Cody is the most athletic person I know – he is so good at everything he tries, which makes it impossible to really compete with him haha but it’s fun to try. It was such a fun memory too, so I wanted to put together some other active date ideas to try:

Rollerblading.
Pool Olympics. Our kids insist on getting in on this one!
Basketball. I grew up playing basketball, so I get a little more competitive with Cody on this one, haha.
Garage sale challenge. A great way to minimize your home too – see who can gather the most objects!
Take a new workout class together.
Physical fitness test. A blast from the past – did anyone else have to do physical fitness tests in elementary school?
Outdoor ninja warrior course. The set up is just as fun as actually running the course, not to mention watching each other attempt it haha.
Scavenger hunt. Have you and your partner create one then compare whose was the most fun!
Pickleball. A must try if you haven’t ever played – so fun.
Evening hike. Build a bonfire when you get to your destination!
Minute to win it challenges. Pinterest has great MTW ideas!
Croquet. This is one of my fams all-time favs!
Geocaching. Download the app or look up a nearby geocache online!
Teach each other something new.
Nerf fun war. The kids love to get in on this one too!
DIY mini-golf course. Try and see how complicated you can make each hole.
Fishing.
Make a Time Capsule. I love these so much- it’s so fun to go back and look at how much you’ve changed over the years.
Tennis.
Try a 2 person fitness challenge. We love to do team sit up with Ollie! He loves it so much!

5 Days Of Simple Summer Looks

Summer days can be unpredictable. With kids out of school, we are always in search or something new to keep everyone entertained or the next adventure. It can be difficult to even find a time to work let alone get ready for the day, so I put it to the test- how fast can I throw together 5 easy outfits for every occasion throughout the week. The goal was to still look stylish and put together, but keep it simple and quick! Here are 5 days of simple summer looks for various occasions.

I’ve been wearing these simple gold hoopss literally every day because they go with any outfit so well. Also I thought this bag was so adorable! Perfect addition to your summer looks.

A comfortable, yet stylish playdate outfit. This monochrome look can be put together so fast and is one of my favorites! I love this cute oversized tote paired with a sporty sneaker like this Adidas pair. A comfortable pullover and some paper bag shorts and you’re on your way!

If you’re looking to swap out your old sweatpants, you have to get these joggers! They’re the perfect pant to throw on when running to the grocery store quick. Love them paired with a basic white tank and some black sunnies like these. To transition to a casual dinner look, throw on a denim jacket like this one, I love an oversized look so I always go up one size!

Statement jewelry is my weakness right now. It completes a look so well when you feel like you’re just missing something. I love this gold link chain and how it complements these tortoise shell sandals for a more dressed up look without putting in the time. A great lightweight summer top is this one I’m wearing, and I love it tucked into these extra high rise black jeans! This is an effortlessly chic outfit for grabbing lunch with friends or taking a picnic to the park with the kids!

Summer Nights

Summer sunsets where we live are absolutely stunning. Our favorite part of the day (and clearly Ollie’s!) is after dinner going out for a walk to watch the sun go down. There’s just something about summer nights that just make you so happy. Beckam loves to ride his bike and Ollie wants to be big and walk so bad but loves to be pushed around in the stroller! I have to be cozy when we go on our walks so I love this tie-dye hoodie because it’s the right amount of comfy but really light so it’s not too hot during the summer – and who doesn’t love a tie dye print to match the sunset?! These pants are super lightweight as well and fit baggier so they almost feel like thin sweatpants! Cody is all about lightweight in the summer too. He loves these navy shorts, and this thin button-up. Even though it’s been a different vibe this summer, I love that it has been super laid back where we can just focus on really being together and genuinely enjoy the little moments we take for granted! The SOFTEST Baby Collection Ever

With a 5 year gap between Beckam and Ollie, it’s almost like I’m having to learn everything all over again. There are so many new brands and products that it’s almost like starting fresh (with the exception of some tried and true products :). I think one of the biggest differences is all the cute baby clothes especially for boys! I loved dressing B up, but I feel like there are so many more options now. One of my newfound favorites is Kyte Baby. I was introduced to them a couple months ago and they have THE SOFTEST clothes ever! (Also hosting a giveaway on my IG – keep reading for details!)

APPAREL:

I love their selection of baby clothes! Their pieces are made out of bamboo (which helps regulate baby’s temperature) and soooo buttery soft! Honestly I was shook by how soft their products are. Not only do they have a great variety of silhouettes, they also have amazing color options and prints (how good is this rainbow print?!). The zippered footies are worth their weight in gold! They have a textured bottom to give them extra grip while babies/toddlers stand or start to walk. They also have toddler sizes up size 7 so you can get matching pajama sets for Beckam.

SLEEP BAGS:

One of the biggest tips I learned from working with a professional sleep trainer for Ollie was the importance of sleep sacks. They make a huge difference! Not only is it a sleep cue to help them get in their bedtime routine, but it helps prevent them from crawling out of the crib as they get older. Kyte Baby’s sleep bags are all temperature regulated, so you can use a thicker one during winter and a thinner one during summer. Such a good idea and again, so many great color options.

NURSERY/HOME:

Kyte Baby also has tons of pieces for the nursery and home. Their blankets are also made out of their super soft bamboo material (they have baby, kid, and adult blankets). The crib sheets are on my wish list but they sell out fast. Tons of color options but you just have to move quick when you see the color you want. 🙂 They also have a bath collection with robes from baby to adult, washcloths, brushes, and more. Need to try!

I have been in a major sunglasses funk lately. It might sound weird, but a fresh pair of sunglasses can change the game. They are hands down one of my most-worn accessories and always make an outfit feel more put together. I’ve had a few more closet additions this summer, but they always hit differently with a new pair of sunglasses, so that’s what I’ve been on the hunt for recently! I just got this pair and it’s really different from what I’ve been wearing lately. I love the delicate frames to make any outfit feel more dressed up. They are the perfect pair to go from day to night, whether you have to had into work for meetings, are heading to the pool, or heading out for date night. Also got these cat eye frames and this pair recently and love!

Our Latest Backyard Addition

Outdoor space has never been more appreciated that this summer! We set up this kids furniture set in the backyard and the kids love it!

How cute are they in their coordinating Vans tees (linking here and here) ! B looks up to Wes so much. ❤️

The kids patio set is on sale right now – I’m already envisioning so many summer nights with the kids spent here!

His first time eating cherries! So glad we caught this reaction on camera haha.

We are still trying to figure out landscaping for our backyard – so many of you guys weighed in on the pool debate so now it’s back in the running, haha. But we felt like we weren’t taking advantage of our backyard space, so when I found this cute kids’ patio set on sale I thought it would be the perfect solution. We had some left over gravel from another landscaping project, so we put it down to buy us some time before we decide if we are doing a pool area, pavers, grass, etc. I love the color combo and it’s all good quality but still lightweight so the kids can move it around easily. Both Cody and I still sit on it, even though its kids sizes, so it’s become a fun new hang out spot in the backyard. There’s no better way to break it in than with some yummy snacks. Mara usually loves playing server but all the kids loved hanging out on their new patio set while I put together some snacks for them.

I found some cute outdoor pieces for 4th of July – loved these striped and checkered napkins and got these reusable straws which are perfect for a backyard BBQ or any festive celebrations.
