Cody always teases me for needing a full sized suitcase (or 2.. haha) no matter how long or short of a trip it is. I had a quick trip planned and decided to put myself to the test to see if I could scale it down to fit in a carry-on… Spoiler alert – I didn’t. 😂 But, I would have if I hadn’t packed my pillow! (Does anyone else have to pack their pillow when they travel to be able to get a good night’s sleep? 🙋‍♀️) But it still felt good to be able to scale down what I was packing to a few pieces to mix-and-match so here were some of my weekend getaway summer essentials:

CLOTHES:

DRESS (SIMILAR HERE)- Dresses are your best friend when you’re trying to squeeze a weekends’ worth of clothes and beauty products into a carry-on. They are an easy one and done piece. Love this pink dress! It’s a gorgeous color (perfect for Insta-worthy pics from your trip!) and the sleeves are sooo stunning! It’s also a really pretty material that you don’t have to steam after you unpack it. Super easy pieces to transition from pool side to dinner with the girls. Also love the silhouette of this one and how pretty is this one?

BIKER SHORTS – Summer is the season of biker shorts! For an easy, breezy look, pair some cute biker shorts with an oversized tank or tee and your favorite sandals and sunnies. SWIMWEAR:

MINIMAL TAN-LINES BIKINI TOP & BOTTOMS – When I’m traveling with the family, I’m all about the kid-proof swimsuits – something I can swim in and be super active in without worrying about Ollie getting his hands on a strap. But for girl’s trips, it’s all about find suits that will leave the least tan lines. This bikini is so beautiful, and I love that you can wear the straps multiple ways – tied up as a halter or around your torso.

ACCESSORIES:

PLEATED MINI TOTE – Just discovered this brand and I am in love! The pleating detail is absolutely stunning in person. I wanted a mini one that would fit in my carry-on for the trip, but the bigger version is next on my list! Soooo good!

SUN HAT – Because #1, I need both good SPF and a sun hat if I’m going to be in the sun all day and #2, so cute! Love the frayed brim and it’s a great size to give you full shade from every angle.

SHOES:

4 Fresh Ways To Style Leather Shorts For Spring

I added these leather shorts to my wardrobe this spring and they are one of my favorite pieces to wear. They are amazing quality and such a gorgeous color – they are one of the pieces I most look forward to wearing! Leather shorts are surprisingly simple to style but I wanted to share 4 fresh ideas for how to wear them:

SPRING LAYERS

CODY: WHITE SWEATSHIRT | WHITE TROUSERS | BROWN JACKET | WHITE NIKES

On a cooler spring (or even fall) day, layer up on top. A sweater, turtleneck, and jacket make it easy to peel and put back on depending on what turn the weather takes for the day. This sweater is sooo good – I’ll be trying to get as much wear out of it as possible before the summer! When it doubt, keep it monochromatic – it will ready more high-end.

HIGHS & LOWS

One of my favorite spring silhouettes is a long layer over a shorter hem like shorts or a mini skirt. It’s such a fresh look and the layers bring a lot of interest to the outfit. Try a lightweight layer like a trench coat or a long cardigan. I love it layered over this crisp, oversized button up. Keep it current and casual with a cool combat boot – love a white combat boot for spring!

STATEMENT BOOTS + BLOUSE

Another one of my favorite spring trends is shorts with knee-high boots (especially with a good heel on them!). It’s the perfect combo for the season and lets you milk every last drop out of your favorite boots before you have to put them away until fall. Dress it up with a beautiful, detailed blouse or keep it simple with a simple bodysuit.

COMFY & CASUAL

And of course, no style round up would be complete with a dressed down, casual spin. Love this graphic sweatshirt and baseball hat paired with the pretty tailored silhouette of the shorts. Throw on a white spring ankle boot to keep it feeling cool for spring.

STRAIGHT LEG DENIM (UNDER $100) – Love all the Ribcage Levi’s styles! They are all really flattering. I usually size up 1 from my usual size with Levi’s. but since these are wider leg I stuck with my usual size (25).

YOUR GOOD GRAPHIC TEE – When you’re torn between colors or neutrals (me, always haha). Love this tee and you have to check out the back. Perfect piece to brighten up your spring.

PINK TAILORED SHORTS – Could not believe the price on these! Prettiest silhouette, perfect length, and the button details are just icing on the cake. Sizes are selling quick!

FLORAL BIKINI TOP & BOTTOMS (UNDER $100) – The floral bikini so good that I had to order it before I posted it on stories yesterday to make sure it didn’t sell out 🙈. And the back is even better than the front. Another one I was shocked at the price of! Looks like a Zimmermann level swimsuit but with the discount, it’s under $100 for top and bottoms together! It’s my first time ordering this brand but they have so many cute pieces (swim & beyond)

WHITE SLIDES (UNDER $100) – Love my white Birkenstocks but there was something about this pair that felt like a step up. Love the pretty white buckles and they feel like a chic, minimalist twist on the classic Birks.

LAVENDER LEGGINGS (UNDER $100) – FP Movement is one of my favorite workout brands – I’ve bought more pieces from them in the last year than any other fitness brand. I have a bunch of their shorts in this same material and they are so comfortable – love these leggings in the pretty lavender!

SLIDES – This is a brand I discovered on Shopbop years ago and I’ve been loyal every since.They have the prettiest shoe silhouettes and surprisingly good price points. This is one of my favorites this year that comes in blue, tan, and white. Such a good statement sandal! They just fully restocked in blue, so keep any eye out for more restocks in the other colors.

WIDE-LEG TROUSERS (SIMILAR HERE) – This spring is all about the trousers! (Even more obvious by how fast sizes are selling out for this pair!) I feel like trousers are a happy medium between joggers and denim on the comfort scale – the usually have a little more give than jeans and are super easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion, so it makes sense why they are such a huge trend this year. (These are a little more of a splurge but I am OBSESSED! Also love this pair.)

CROPPED SWEATSHIRT (UNDER $100) – Another FP favorite – this one comes in two colors and you can wear it front or backwards depending on your mood. Love this pullover and such a good crop too!

HIGH-WAISTED DENIM (ON SALE UNDER $100) – Another great pair of denim if you’re starting to move away from skinny jeans. Still a really flattering, tapered silhouette and just a little more relaxed than your skinnies. Amazing price point! For this pair, I would size up 1 from your usual size (unless you know you’re Levi’s size :).

GUCCI BRONZING POWDER

I would probably have bought this just for the beautiful packaging, but fortunately I’m just as obsessed with the bronzer haha. (Gets amazing reviews too!) It’s not shimmery but more of velvety smooth finish – it goes on super smooth and builds really beautiful. So if you’re someone who appreciates high quality bronzer, you will love this one! I am wearing shade 3 medium in photos above.

TOO-FACED LIP PLUMPER

I’ve been using this one for over a month and love the results – probably the best lip plumper I’ve ever used. Feels like temporary lip injections 😂. It does have a little sting at first when you apply (which in my experience, all good lip plumper do) but it works really well and the gloss/color is super pretty.

SUPER GOOP UNSEEN SUNSCREEN

The best thing you can do for your skin is use SPF. I never go a day without it. I’ve tried more brands than I can count and this one is my current go-to. It feels less like sunscreen and more like a primer – really lightweight and absorbs quickly so there’s no excess or white streakiness it actually is clear. Really pretty finish on it’s own or under makeup!

YSL ROUGE VOLUPTE SHINE

If you haven’t tried these lipsticks, I don’t even know how to describe them to you. Once you buy your first, you won’t be able to stop. It’s a medium coverage lipstick but buildable if you want a more pigmented color, but my favorite part is the hyaluronic acid and oils – by far the most moisturizing lipstick I’ve ever used so it keeps your lips soft and smooth all day. My favorites are this nude and this light pink. Has a subtle shine to it too.

URBAN DECAY PINK GLIDE-ON EYELINER

One of my favorite spring beauty trends is the bright, colorful winged eyeliner so this hot pink liner was one of my first beauty-buys this spring. Urban Decay’s eyeliners are all really pigmented so it makes it easy to get that bright, bold winged look with any color. (Also waterproof so it stays on as long as you want it to.)

California Spring Break Recap

We spent spring break this year in California with Cody’s family and my parents. It was so nice to be at the beach again! Cody’s family vacation style is go, go go (which is our family’s speed too 🙂 so we stayed so busy I barely posted! So here’s a dump of some of our Spring Break pics and links from different things from my stories.

OLLIE: VANS | TRICYCLE

Travel outfits – comfort always! The kids love these Santa Cruz sweatshirts and also found the cutest matching Vans for Beckam and Ollie. Also got a million questions on Ollie’s trike/stroller – best invention ever! It completely folds down into a backpack which is awesome for traveling!

DRAWSTRING DRESS (SIMILAR HERE & HERE UNDER $30) | ESPADRILLES (MORE SIZES HERE – SIMILAR HERE)

This dress was a steal (under $30)! Only available in a few sizes but I found this similar long sleeve one here and a shorter one here. Also obsessed with these espadrilles! They come in multiple colors and with the platform heel they are actually really comfortable and so feminine/flattering.

SHIRT JACKET (SIMILAR HERE) | DENIM SHORTS | BEADED PHONE ACCESSORY

Perfect spring jacket! Really lightweight and super soft so it works as both a cute shacket over a tank and shorts on warmer days or as a cute layer when you want to bundle up more. I have it in black too, so when I saw the grey color I had to snag it too. Im wearing a size small in grey. When I bought the black they only had medium so it’s even a little more oversized. So both small and medium work depending on how oversized you want the fit.

You guys know how much I love sunsets!! It was like a 5-10 minute walk to the beach from our resort, and one night we caught the most beautiful sunset. My sister in laws would wake up early and walk the beach in the morning too (haha I like to sleep in) but they said they saw dolphins too! The water was stunning, the weather was perfect, and the sun was setting at the most beautiful spot. Love a good beach sunset!

These denim on repeat! Great price point under $50 – I’ve been sizing up on for a slouchier/baggy look and love the fit of these. Also these sandals come with me every time we go to the beach – they are under $30 but really comfortable and perfect for family hikes or just trying to keep up with Ollie.

GREEN BIKINI TOP & BOTTOMS

WHITE BELTED ONE-PIECE (UNDER $50)

Obsessed with this suit from my friend Caitlin’s collab! It was sold out for a while but just restocked in a few sizes – so cute and under $50!

So serious about his motorbikes! Haha his faces kill me!

LEOPARD BABY CARRIER | DENIM SHORTS | EMBELLISHED SANDALS | SUNGLASSES (UNDER $20) | OLLIE’S VANS

Finally got my hands on this leopard baby carrier after they had been sold out forever. Love the print!! Babybjorn is the best brand – you can adjust pretty much everything to make sure it’s comfortable and works for infants or toddlers. I have another neutral color too that I used a lot when Ollie was a baby.

After the beach, biking is probably our favorite outdoor activity together. We always love renting and riding bikes – especially around California! You could rent cruisers for $5 an hour. All the kids loved it.

Too cute not to end on! These Vans I got matching for Ollie and Beckam. I’m obsessed!
