I love the first couple snowfalls of the season. I always get so excited to pull out my new coat and mittens. Call me cheesy, but there’s something so magical about the first snows during the holidays that just get you in the Holiday spirit.

11 Holiday Party Ideas and a DIY Holiday Ice Bucket

I always love any excuse to get dressed up, so Cody and I are all about throwing holiday parties for friends and family. As hosts, your attire is one of the most important ways for really sealing the deal for your holiday party so it’s important to dress accordingly. A glam dinner party is one celebration guests will always get excited to get a chance to dress up for. I love this red dress (50% off) with the shoulder cut-outs. This is another great red dress for a Christmas party and they also have a lot of really cute green dresses. All their dresses are 50% off right now so you can get your Holiday favorite on sale!

I always like to coordinate with Cody (even more so when we are hosting a get together) so we coordinated our looks together with this plaid tie. I’m also obsessed with this velvet jacket. I’ve been looking for one forever and love this one.

Another must for setting the right mood is a touch of DIY to make the party feel more personal. I’d been wanting to make a DIY ice bucket for an extra festive element to the party. To make your own, get 2 round containers of different sizes. (I used a plastic Red Vines container; you can also use a plastic popcorn tin or anything else you can find really – just make sure it’s not glass so it doesn’t crack during the freezing process.) Set the smaller container within the larger and fill the space between the two with distilled water for a clearer end look. Add cranberries and rosemary (in hindsight, I wish I would have thrown in more cranberries for color). I filled it up about halfway and froze it in phases to keep all the red and green from floating to the top. Repeat again once the first half has frozen through. Once both phases were frozen, I filled the sink with hot water and set the containers in the hot water to melt the sides so I could get the ice bucket our of the container a little easier. Once you are ready to display your ice bucket, set it on a chilled platter to minimize the melting.

Another easy but festive element we incorporated was the gold sugar-rimmed glasses and it was definitely a fun touch. 🙂

Oh my word I am so excited for Christmas!! I saw this skirt like a month ago and gasped! It’s so perfect for Holiday parties. I am obsessed with the huge bow on the back – isn’t it so pretty?! It comes in pink too. I paired it with an old crop top I had but it looks cute dressed down with a flannel too. There are lots of options for styling 🙂

B was literally killing me in all these pictures. I know as a mom you’re biased but seriously I can’t handle his cuteness. He loves to help me carry things in from the car so he was all about carrying these little boxes around and stacking them. I’ll be honest there is nothing in them we just have them under our tree for decor but I love how excited he gets to help.

Picking out gifts for my family and friends is one of my favorite parts of the holidays! There are definitely some of those people I struggle with – men are so hard – but below is a list of some of the goodies I’ve found so far 🙂 Neiman’s has so many cute gifts for kids right now like pieces I haven’t seen anywhere else! Love these superheros they can color themselves, and I just ordered this city block set. I love finding those unique gifts for the kids because they get so excited about everything.

1. DRONE: Guys always love gadgets. These drones have a built-in camera so when they are doing their favorite outdoor activity they can capture the view from a different angle.

2. LIPS PHONECASE: How cute is this case! I may or may not have ordered one for myself but it’s also the perfect gift for a sister or your bestie.

3. BURGUNDY BAG: I’m obsessed with this bag! It’s at the top of my wishlist right now. There’s nothing wrong with dropping a couple hints for your husband – sometimes they even prefer it.

4. WOODEN CONNECT GAME: If you have a family on your gift list, a game and cookies is always a great choice – it’s a gift that brings family together, and isn’t that what the holidays are all about? Plus this game would be so cute on a coffee table.

5. DOG STOCKING: Don’t forget about your four-legged friend! Santa’s gotta spoil him too 🙂

6. SKINCARE SET: Mothers-in-law can sometimes be hard to shop for but the appeal of a good skincare product is something any woman can get behind.

7. MUSIC BOX – All our kiddos love music. B will dance to any beat he hears so I love the idea of getting them something to help them grow their passion for music.

8. LIPSTICK/GLOSS SET – Whether you’re shopping for your sister or the closest thing to it, your BFF, she’ll love this lipstick/ lipgloss set. I love YSL because they always stay on super long and they have the richest pigments.

9. WOODEN CITY BLOCK SET – I just think this is so cute and a perfect addition to any toy room. This one comes in 4 different city-scapes. I ordered it already for my kiddos. I’m obsessed!

Growing up being a mom was something I looked forward to more than anything else. I couldn’t wait for the day to have kids of my own. There are days I feel on cloud nine where everything seems like rainbows and butterflies and parenting couldn’t be easier, then there are days and weeks where I wonder if I am being a good enough mom. I had one of those rough days last week where I was completely drained. I had a couple crazy days at work, my house was a mess, I had barely slept, B was whining over everything and I just broke down. I called Cody and was like I need you to take the kids – I need a couple hours to myself.

I use to set aside time every week to have a little me time and the last couple weeks just got so chaotic I didn’t do it and honestly it affected me as a parent. I don’t claim to know it all, trust me half the time I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’ve realized when I stick to these basic habits my life as a mom runs so much smoother!

GET ENOUGH SLEEP – Seriously I can’t stress this enough, get those zzz’s! When I don’t get a full night sleep my fuse is so short. You remember that breakdown I was telling you about, well that night I went to bed at 7:30pm and woke up at 8 am the next day. It was literally heaven! I don’t think I have slept that long in years, but I felt so good the next day! Obviously that kind of sleep can’t happen all the time – but a full 7-8 hours leaves you refreshed.
HAVE YOU TIME – You need time to yourself! My favorite is getting massages. I also love going shopping (an obvious one 🙂 but when I go by myself I actually get to try on the clothes and I’m not racing through the aisles trying to get it done as quick as I can. And I know this sounds cheesy, but after a couple hours I always miss B and it makes me more excited to get home and play with him.
DONT COMPARE YOURSELF – If your feeling down or stressed about your parenting, don’t go on social media and compare yourself to other moms or families that seem to have it all together. Remember social media is such a small glimpse of people’s lives! Instead look through pictures of happy moments with your own family.
LEARN TO LAUGH – Chaos comes with kids – and the more you embrace and learn to laugh at the imperfections the more relaxed you will be.
GET READY FOR THE DAY – Don’t get me wrong I lovvvvve sweats, but I always notice a difference in my demeanor when I get ready for the day. You don’t have to be in 5 inch heels and full on make up. Take a shower, or do your hair, something that puts a little effort into getting ready for the day.
WAKE UP EARLY – I love waking up early! I am typically up around 6-6:30 every morning. The mornings are my time to get stuff done before the kiddos wake up and also enjoy a little quiet time.
BE GRATEFUL – Every night (well we try to do it every night but sometimes we forget) Cody and I say what our favorite part of the day was. I think it’s so important to think about the things you are grateful for. When you focus on the positive it brings more positive things to your life.
GET OUT OF THE HOUSE – This has really been a more a recent thing – but Beckam needs to get out of the house in the morning or else he goes stir crazy! This one might not be for everyone (all kids are different)- but I have noticed a huge difference in B when we get out early and he can go run some of his energy off.
ENCOURAGE OTHER MOMS – Being a mom is definitely hard. Encourage other moms and friends you have that may be going through a hard week and let them know what you admire about their parenting, offer to take their kids for a couple hours, or just let them know they are doing a good job. It’s always nice to have the reassurance from your friends and family when you are having those tough days.
LET IT GO – Whether it’s picking up the house, or finishing those emails for work, sometimes you just need to let it go. There are days everything doesn’t get done and it’s ok. (if it has to get done you can always wake up early and do it in the morning 🙂
HAVE DATE NIGHT – I think this was one of the pieces of advice I heard over and over again before we got married, but it wasn’t until we had Beckam I really understood why. You need alone time with your spouse! Growing the bond between you guys makes you both better parents.
LISTEN TO THEM LAUGH – Nothing in the world makes me happier then listening to the kids laugh. Make it your goal everyday to get at least one deep uncontrollable laugh out of them. There really is no greater joy!

Tips to Keep Your Clothes Looking New

Style is just as much about taking care of your clothes when you’re not wearing them as it is when you are. From laundry, to hanging your clothes, to ironing or steaming, there is a lot you can do to make your clothes last longer just by taking better care of them. Below are a few of my favorite ways to take care of my clothes, from start to finish.

Wash your clothes in cold water and in a delicate cycle. Cold water minimizes shrinking and wrinkling, plus it’s more energy efficient. A regular wash cycle can agitate your clothes and break down the fibers (which can make your clothes look older faster) but a delicate cycle is more gentle on your clothes.
Skip the heat. Especially with dark colors, heat makes colors fade faster so skip the dryer and hang dry those clothes with dark rich colors.
Wash your clothes inside out. Washing your clothes inside out keeps colors from bleeding and fading as much and prevents buttons and zippers from snagging and ripping other clothes in the wash.
Never skip the fabric conditioner. You wouldn’t skip conditioner after shampooing your hair, right? Same goes for clothes. I always use Downy Fabric Conditioner and love the way it smells! It protects your favorite pieces from stretching, fading, and fuzzing so they look newer longer. Plus is there anything better than the smell of fresh laundry?
To hang or to fold? As a general rule of thumb, outerwear and linen, cotton, and rayon garments are always best on a hanger while knits should be folded.
Steam. Whenever you can opt for steaming over ironing your clothes. It’s easier on your clothes than an iron and a must for delicate fabrics.

Investing in proper fabric care products is so important. You can always tell a difference between clothes that are taken care of and those that aren’t once you step outside. It’s so crazy, the weather just instantly dropped last week! We even had a few days of snow! Beckam and I still go the park a couple times a week to make the most of the last bit of fall. The leaves have almost all fallen off the trees now – it’s so pretty! B loves to play chase or run and tackle me in a pile of leaves. His run is more like a waddle these days especially with his little boots on it’s pretty funny. He just runs in circles like a happy little puppy, laughing and purposely falling for no reason. I really can’t handle how old he’s getting. Sometime’s I just want to freeze time and make sure I’m capturing every second cause I love him so much!

You’ve all heard me rant about my love for green this season! I just got this coat (ITS ON SALE NOW! 50% OFF) to add to my obsession. I love the look of puffy coats but hate when they are so puffy you have no shape or form. I love this Bernardo one because it’s more lightweight (still super warm) and form fitting.
