Today I am excited to share another part in my fitness series on getting healthy. We’ve all hit those obstacles and excuses when trying to live a more active lifestyle, but I’ve found a few things that help keep me motivated:
1. Get dressed. You know that feeling you get when you are about to walk out the door in an outfit you are already disappointed in? That’s no way to start your day and it’s certainly no way to start your workout. Invest in some active wear options that make you excited to get dressed.
I like to pick a color scheme and get four or five pieces I can mix and match for different activities. You can see from the pictures above how easily the pieces can be mixed: Cropped joggers, neon coral sports bra (also ordered in mint), comfortable hoodie (strings match joggers and sports bra), tight capri leggings, and a white cut off. These cropped joggers are my favorite. I’ve worn my long ones on repeat this winter and was excited to find a cute cropped pair. After the sports bra is on (how cute are these) you are much more likely to hit the pavement when your excited about what you are wearing.
2. Make time. When you express interest in exercising, people are always quick to suggest what works for them. And that’s great – for them. You know your schedule better than anyone so carve out your own routines and stick to them. If you can, find a workout partner to commit to the same time to stop you from bailing. If your working full time, a mom, or both even that can be challenging. One of my good friends and I commit to getting a certain routine done sometime during the day. Wether it be sit ups or lunges from home, we text each other to hold each other accountable.
3. Love it. Work up a sweat doing something you love. Don’t give up just because you haven’t found your niche yet or don’t like going to the gym. Focus on your heart rate – not pounds. That opens up a world of options, from dancing around your house to summiting the closest peak. We love hiking and going for walks. With kids and dog we are outside as much as the weather permits. Just work on finding something that gets you excited to be active like a color run with your besties or a hike to a cool scenic spot you’ve heard about.
4. Treat Yo’ Self. Reward yourself for hitting both small and large goals. Pick a reward that correlates with your hard work. It could be a mani-pedi with your work out partner, or a massage to loosen up those muscles after a hard week at the gym.
How do you stick to your fitness goals?
XOX,
Christine
