The Best Cinnamon Rolls Ever

Merry Christmas Eve! I’m so excited to share the cinnamon roll recipe. It’s been a top request in DMS 🙂 I was planning on taking pictures and posting a step by step but I haven’t even had a chance to make them yet for Christmas and promised I would post the recipe before Christmas, so I’m just adding screenshot from videos I’ve taken and later when I make I will come add better pictures 🙂

We love cinnamon rolls and I’ve gone through tons of recipes trying to find our favorite and I promise this one won’t disappoint. One of my favorite parts is the cream because even if you mess up and make the dough a little too dry (like I did the first time I made) it brings moisture back in and makes them super soft! I got a big part of the cinnamon roll part from this Cinnabon recipe on Tastes of Lizzy T but tweaked a few things like the frosting. The frosting is Cody’s recipe he has made since we first got married.  So below is our version of the recipe for our family favorite cinnamon rolls! I hope you guys love them!

The below recipe is for 12 rolls. I will either double or do 1.5 because we eat them for a week. I personally think they are WAY better if you bake them, frost them, stick them in the freezer, and then warm them up in the microwave. I don’t even eat one when they come fresh out of the oven because I think in the freezer the frosting melts in or something. I don’t know… they just taste better. Also it makes it really great if you want to make for a birthday or Christmas breakfast you don’t have to wake up way early to do it, you can make them the day before.

Christine Andrew cinnamon rolls

INGREDIENTS (serves 12):

Dough:

1 cup warm milk (110° degrees)

2 1/2 teaspoons instant dry yeast

2 large eggs (room temp)

1/3 cup salted butter (I set mine out in the morning so it’s room temp and soft, if you forget just barely melt it, if you melt it all the way it won’t turn out the same)

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (divided) **This is where my recipe differs from there. Since I’m at a higher elevation it was too much flour so I tweaked it a few times and found the sweet spot: 3 and 3/4 cup to 4cups. You want the dough to be a little sticky and elasticy.

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup granulated sugar

Filling:

1/2 cup salter butter (almost melted)

1 cup packed brown sugar

2.5 tablespoons cinnamon

1/4 cup of sugar (the original recipe has no sugar I add a tiny bit)

1/2 cup heavy cream (*for pouring over the risen rolls ) the cream is what makes the rolls super soft, I never use the full amount of cream I always just do less. If you want them really gooey then do full amount but we usually do a little more than half of what it calls for.

Cody’s Frosting Recipe:

I asked Cody for his recipe and these are his exact words haha:

1 stick of butter – thawed not microwaved –  blend butter with mixer  first (about 30 seconds until it’s completely fluffy)

Add 1 tablespoon of good vanilla not the crappy one

Add 1/3 cup milk

Pour powdered sugar to the consistency you want. I never measure it. We like it thicker because we freeze rolls. (I asked Cody to guess how much and he said he guesses around 2 cups of powdered sugar).

INSTRUCTIONS:

(these are pretty much their step by steps, with a couple things we added, but she has some great tips that helped me)

  1. Pour the warm milk in the bowl of a stand mixer and sprinkle the yeast overtop.
  2. Add the eggs, butter, salt and sugar.
  3. Add in 3.5 cups of flour (save the rest and only add if your dough needs it- remember you want it to be kind of sticky still 🙂 Mix using the beater blade just until the ingredients are barely combined. Allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes so the flour has time to soak up the liquids.
  4. Scape the dough off the beater blade and remove it. Attach the dough hook.
  5. Beat the dough on medium speed, adding in up to 1/2 cup more flour if needed to form a dough. Knead for 5-7 minutes or until the dough is elastic and smooth. The dough should be tacky and will still be sticking to the sides of the bowl. Don’t add too much flour!
  6. Spray a large bowl with cooking spray.
  7. Use a rubber spatula to remove the rough from the mixer bowl and place it in the greased large bowl.
  8. Cover the bowl with a towel or wax paper.
  9. Set the bowl in a warm place and allow the dough to right until double. I like to turn on the oven to the lowest setting for 1-2 minutes. Then turn off the oven and place the dough to rise in there. It normally takes about 30 minutes for the dough to rise. Do not allow the dough to rise too much or your cinnamon rolls will be airy.
  10. While the dough is rising, prepare the cinnamon filling. In a medium bowl, combine the soft butter, brown sugar, sugar  and cinnamon, mixing until well combined. Set aside.
  11. Sprinkle your counter with flour. Turn out the dough onto the pastry mat and sprinkle the top of the dough with additional flour.
  12. Flour a rolling pin and roll the dough to about a 24×15″ rectangle don’t overly stress about size of the rectangle it doesn’t have to be exact but you want it close.
  13. Use a rubber spatula to smooth the cinnamon filling over the whole dough rectangle.
  14. Starting on the long end, roll the dough up tightly jelly roll style.
  15. Cut into 12 slices and place in a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.
  16. Cover the pan and allow the rolls to rise for 20 minutes or until nearly double.
  17. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  18. Warm the heavy cream until the chill is off. Don’t make it hot… you just don’t want it cold. It should be warm to the touch.
  19. Once the rolls have risen, pour the heavy cream over the top of the rolls, allowing it to soak down in and around the rolls.
  20. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-22 minutes, until the rolls are lightly golden brown and the center rolls are cooked through. Note… the time will vary based on how big the rolls are, what type of pan, how close the rolls are packed, etc. They could take up to 25-27 minutes. Check the rolls at 20 minutes. If they are getting too browned, cover loosely with foil for the remaining baking time.
  21. While the rolls are cooling, prepare the frosting.

OUR FAMILY ADDITIONS:

22. Once Cody makes the frosting, and rolls have cooled completely, we frost all the rolls, put a piece of tin foil over them and stick them in the freezer. This makes it really easy to prepare in advance before your event or meal. You don’t have to rush day of!

23. Once they have been in freezer for a couple hours, warm them up in the microwave for 30-45 seconds depending on your microwave and they are DELICIOUS!!! Because we know we are going to be warming them up and the frosting melts a little we make the frosting pretty thick.

I hope you guys love them! Send me pics if you make them! And I hope you have a special day with family or friends. Merry Christmas Eve!

I recently discovered the French brand Sezane and am so in love with all their stuff. It’s gorgeous online but once you see it in person, it’s even better. The quality is sooooo good! Every piece feels super high-end. My favorite is probably this leather bag, but I love it all. I had to look up the price again after I got it because I couldn’t believe it was so affordable. It honestly feels like a high-end designer purse. Love how spacious it is too! Great travel bag (when we start traveling again haha), especially with kids when you start to accumulate all their toys.

Linking everything below! Have you guys heard of them before? They are huge in Europe apparently, I’m just late to the game haha.

Splurge or Save Last Minute Pampering Gift Ideas

floral bath tea

How pretty is this petal tea bath?? It’s such a pretty gift or stocking stuffer under $15!

last minute gift ideas

christine andrew holiday gift ideas

pampering gift ideas

DETAILS: CBD PETAL TEA BATH (UNDER $15) | FUZZY SLIPPERS | JO MALONE CANDLE

I can’t believe Christmas is this week. 😱 Usually I am so ready for Christmas but this year it feels like it went soooo fast. I don’t want it to be here already. I lovvvve the feeling the holidays bring and the time with family. But I’m planning on soaking up as much holiday magic as I can this week! A lot of retailers have hit their shipping deadlines so I’m only ordering from the ones I’m super familiar with and trust or doing in-store pickup. Winter baths are my all time favorite way to unwind and relax in the winter. Nordstrom is always my go to so I wanted to throw together some pampering gift ideas at multiple price points if you’re in need of last minute gift ideas!

$ GIFT IDEAS UNDER $20:

BATH TEA – This bath tea is under $15 and the prettiest little luxury to add to your bath! I love a good bath bomb but this bath tea is on another level. Obsessed with the dried florals that make any bath into a spa-worthy experience! It also has CBD to relax your muscles.

A BOLD LIP COLOR (FEELS SO GRAND) –  this is my go to red lip color. I always get so many questions on the shade when I wear it. I’ve been wearing this one recently in shade ‘Feels So Grand’ with this lip liner in shade ‘Cherry’. Great gift ideas both under $25 sold separately or as a duo!

$$ GIFT IDEAS UNDER $100:

FAUX FUR SLIPPERSI honestly can’t count how many pairs of slippers I’ve collected this year haha. Spending so much time at home this year has made slipper-people out of all of this! Love this pair under $30 and it comes in multiple colors. So cozy!

SATIN PAJAMAS – How cute is this satin pajama set? Love the little lace inset and it comes in lots of colors. Perfect little set worn alone during the winters or also love it under a cozy robe like this one.

JO MALONE ANYTHING – You can never go wrong with Jo Malone and you can never have enough! All her scents are meant for layering so whenever you light two of her candles or layer two perfumes together, it mixes for a totally unique scent. The Peony & Blush Suede is one of my favorites. It’s one of those candles you’ll want to have lit all the time but want to savor it so it lasts longer. Such a great gift idea! Their mini body creams are also an amazing addition to your travel-sized beauty line-up.

ELEPHANT BABY BATH WRAP – Who says adults are the only ones who could use a little extra pampering. 🥰 I got this for Ollie this year and thought it was so cute for bath time! Love the little elephant hood!

$$$ SPLURGE GIFT IDEAS:

FLEECE ROBECody always teases me about how often he catches me still in my robe mid-day haha. But there’s something about an oversized, cozy robes that makes mornings from home feel a little slower and more peaceful. I usually gravitate towards neutrals but this blue is soooo pretty in person I couldn’t resist! It comes in 5 more colors and would make an amazing gift for him or her.

THIS YEAR’S CULT-FAVORITE SCENT – Byredo’s Gypsy Water perfume is this year’s cult-favorite scent and I finally took the plunge. It’s so good! Sweeter perfumes don’t really mix well with my natural scent (although their Lil Fleur is another best-seller) so I love the woodsy/berry smell of this one. Smells so fresh! They are both kind of hard to get your hands on in time for Christmas, so if you can find it in-store at Nordstrom near you, definitely pull the trigger! Also love this Wood Sage & Sea Salt perfume for a perfume that reads more woodsy and fresh.

STOCKING STUFFER FOR HIM UNDER $20:

CHARCOAL BODY BARThis is a great stocking stuffer (only $15) for him and it gets amazing reviews. It’s a charcoal body bar that cleanses and exfoliates. It also has a textured size that you can use to massage muscles/for tension relief.

Linking some more pampering gift ideas at multiple price points below! Are you guys in the same boat as me and last minute shopping or who is all set with their Christmas shopping?

Last Minute Holiday Prep Hacks!

Switched into these joggers and had to share! So soft!

T minus 9 days to Christmas! There’s so much going on around this time of year that it’s easy for things to get lost in the shuffle. I love the gift-wrapping, helping kids pick out presents for their siblings, and wandering through store aisles even after I think I’m done shopping and seeing things that remind me of someone and grabbing it just because. 🙂 But I know it can also feel chaotic so I wanted to share some last minute holiday prep ideas, from last minute Christmas gifts to wrapping ideas, and more.

WRAPPING HACKS:

I have a love hate relationship with gift wrapping. I want to make the present pretty but about 5 presents into it at 11pm on Christmas Eve Cody is like why are you taking 15 minutes on one present hahah. So I’ve settled on doing one “special” gift for each kid I add little trinkets too and make super pretty. I don’t know if you guys have noticed but a lot of stores are super picked over right now as far as their wrapping selections but I found the prettiest wrapping papers in store at Kohl’s! I also love adding ribbons and other trinkets to the outside of the wrapped gifts. Sometimes I’ll just add some greenery, but for their 1 special gift I like to add something a little extra like a cute ornament (love this polar bear one!), candy, or a small holiday-packaged gift set (these were perfect with Mara’s pink wrapping paper!) just to make it feel special

Also if you ever cut your wrapping paper just a bit too short for your box, instead of scrapping it and starting over, turn your box diagonal! You’ll fold the pieces in at an angle so they cover your box, but you end up using less wrapping paper that way and it looks just as cute! You can see the hack on my IGTV from my live with Kohl’s today here.

LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEAS:

Shipping is at an all time high this year and shipping times are delayed. So go in store or do online order pick up. Not only is it a great source of inspiration if you need new ideas, you also avoid the delay of shipping times. Here are some great gift ideas found at Kohl’s:

For him: Guys can sometimes feel like the hardest so shop for but in some ways they are also the easiest. Think practical and function. I got Cody this electric toothbrush (it comes in multiple colors but I love the chic all black) and also a new pair of gloves (the tech touch is a must so they can still use their phone). For the coffee-connoisseurs, he will love this milk frother to make his homemade lattes a little more special. I also got Cody this trio cup holder that turns one cup holder into three – it was an in-store find and something I never would have thought of but I know he will end up using it all the time.

For her: You can never go wrong with a cozy pair of slippers or a comfy throw blanket. Also love the idea of cute beauty gift sets – it’s the best time of the year to find already cute, pre-packaged sets and they are usually at a better price point than if you were to purchase separately. I also love getting kitchen stuff! Obsessed with this copper tea kettle  – it makes for the prettiest kitchen accent!

For kids: I have a feeling this Robot Combat set will be my kids favorite this year. It gets amazing reviews and is one of the hot ticket items this year. It’s remote-controlled and I love that it’s something they can do together! My kids also love doing crafts together (another gift to spend more family time together 🙂 so I love this art box and this rainbow craft kit.

For teens: The Instax mini cameras are always a huge hit with teens and come in so many cute colors! Such a fun way for them to be able to capture memories. Another winner is the old-school mini arcade games – how cute is this Ms. Pac-man one? Also love the idea of a bluetooth speaker as they start to get to that stage instawhere they want to be listening to music and hanging out in their rooms.

There’s seriously so much great holiday inspo in-store and it’s a great way to get your creative juices flowing and brainstorm if you are stuck on the last few people on your list. Kohl’s has tons of amazing in-store options or also super convenient and easy curb-side pick up so you can avoid shipping altogether. Below are a few more cute last minute holiday prep ideas! You can also get 15-20% off at Kohl’s right now with code: YOUSAVE to make holiday prep even easier!

Mornings with Ollie

honest baby

Love my mornings & early cuddles with Ollie!

He loves to look out the window and watch the cars go by. When big trucks go by he makes a grunting noise it’s so funny.

His cute sleep sack is on sale right now. They also have girl prints too 🥰

morning routine

I love the mornings with Ollie. He’s extra cuddly when he first wakes up. He’s such a busier baby than Beckam was so I love the morning cuddles while he’s still waking up, especially while he drinks his bottle. We are supposed to start weaning him off the bottle and I’m not excited about it 😂 he never took a pacifier but he likes to suck on his empty bottle like a pacifier so I’m kinda nervous to cut it out. 🙈

Honest Baby is one of my favorite baby brands. We have used them since Beckam was a baby and now again with Ollie. They launched a new shop, Honest Baby Clothing – a full baby clothing line this year and Zulily is running a flash sale running right now on a lot of their best selling pieces. Their wipes (both baby and anti-bacterial) are amazing! It’s the only place you can get Honest Baby apparel up to 15% off. It’s all 100% certified organic cotton and doesn’t have any harmful dyes. They have onesies, sleep-sacks, pajamas, crib sheets and swaddles – pretty much all things cotton for babies! The baby pants run a little big so size down 🙂 Ollie has crazy sensitive skin so their stuff is a go-to 100%.

If you’re rushing to get some last minute gifts, they also have a Melissa & Doug event running right now (another baby brand favorite especially for kids toys!) and Burts Bees

DETAILS: VERSACE RECTANGULAR SUNGLASSES

No matter what you spend on your wardrobe, there are three pieces that can always elevate your look – shoes, handbags, and sunglasses. These are the things I invest in the most. The timeless pieces that will last for years. They make any outfit seem more high-end but also can make anyone feel more chic and put together. (Also just throwing this out there – between a good pair of sunglasses and a cute face mask, you’re pretty much guaranteed to look put together even when you’re not haha.)  Sunglasses especially are my most-worn accessory year-round. Utah’s at a higher elevation so the sun is just as blinding in the winter as the summer (and it sometimes even worse when it’s reflecting off the snow). So I’ve learned to invest in high-quality sunglasses I love. Even if they are a splurge at first, I usually end up wearing them a ton so it comes out to a lower cost per wear than with other pieces I might only wear a handful of times.

This pair of rectangular Versace sunglasses available at Nordstrom is so beautiful and I am obsessed with the detail on the temple. Also, the size is perfect – a little oversized but not over the top. Sunglasses are super versatile but that doesn’t mean they don’t affect your look. These have that classic silhouette and feel like a glamorous nod to the vintage, Hollywood movie stars. Love them dressed up with a pretty full-sleeved top but they also add that cool feeling to an edgier look like a shoulder pad tee and faux leather pants. Also got this pair – so good!

DETAILS: LONG SHERPA COAT (ALSO LOVE THIS ONE) | JEANS (UNDER $100) | SHORT UGG BOOTS | BEANIE

OLLIE: SHERPA COAT (SIMILAR HERE) | ZIPPED ONESIE | UGG BOOTS

When I saw this cute little sherpa baby coat it triggered a memory of me and Beckam in matching sherpa and UGG boots (posting below) so I wanted to recreate it with Ollie! UGG boots were one of my first big purchases when I was in high school – I was so proud of them haha! They are still a staple today – my kids all have a pair and love them too. I just got this short version after seeing them style with more relaxed jeans or joggers and sweats. Since they are a little shorter there’s less bunching so you can style them with more than just your favorite leggings. Finding matching mama and boy clothes is sometimes then girl clothes – but sherpa and uggs is an easy universal way to coordinate.

Also right now at Free People you can get $100 towards a future order when you spend $150. They have so many amazing coats and outerwear right now! I think it ends this weekend so definitely order while you can! Such a good sale!!

Here’s the throwback it reminded me of. It’s hard to remember Beckam ever being this little!

Below are some more pieces I’m obsessed with at Free People – perfect chance to pull the trigger on some of these and get $100 to spend on future purchases.
