Hey guys! How was your weekend? I took a couple days to unplug and not really be on my phone or computer. Sometime’s it’s nice to have a little break 🙂 We did some deep cleaning – I love the feeling of dejunking! You with me?? And I actually cooked a meal haha, I don’t cook dinner too often, we eat out a lot, but I was feeling more ambitious with our freshly clean house!
Sneakers with dresses is one of my favorite looks – it’s the perfect balance of feminine and boyish. If it’s a combination you haven’t tried yet, start with the basics: Converse and chambray. You can’t go wrong with a slight twist on the timeless denim and sneakers look, just swap out your jeans for a chambray dress. I love the shift silhouette of this one. Converse are usually a great shoe to start with – they are sleeker than a lot of other athletic sneakers (which are still a great look with a dress, in my opinion!) so it’s an easy step in the right direction.
The best part about mixing the dressy and casual elements is it gives you more options when accessorizing – you can take it more sophisticated or boyish depending on the occasion. For more of a menswear look, I love the finishing effect of a baseball hat for a classic all-american look that’s perfect for your end of summer BBQs or baseball games. Rock a minimalist look or add a feminine silhouette by tying a boyfriend button down around your waist.

Whether it’s after 5 years or 50, I firmly believe in the importance of still getting ready for your significant other. It’s easy to get comfortable after you have been married for awhile. And hey, that’s one of the perks of being in a relationship, right? But taking a few minutes to put some effort into your appearance really pays off – for both of you. It takes your relationship back to those early days of butterflies and the anticipation. And as important as those experiences you’ve shared over time are, the attraction is equally important, if not more so. There’s something about getting dolled up that makes an old love seem new again.
That’s not to say you have to go all out. It seems like guys generally like the more effortless looks which makes getting put together for a special night out a little easier because between a career, school, or kids, you might not have as much time to dedicate to your date night beauty routine as you used to. Sometimes even 20 minutes before a date night are hard to come by after a long day. Between wrapping up everything for work and spending as much time with B as possible before I leave for the night, I’m always running out of time to get ready. Usually I end up having to choose between spending time on makeup or hair so one of my go-to tricks is to start the night before. I usually wash my hair the night before a date night and sleep on it for a tousled look. I use this Nexxus New York Salon Care Lavish Body Gel Spray at night while my hair is damp – it gives my hair touchable softness and volume. Then when time’s up before a date, my hair is already prepped for a messy bun or quick side braid. I love messy looks but there is a difference between messy and frizzy so I always finish off my looks with my Nexxus New York Salon Care Frizz Defy Finishing Mist which sets everything in place and keeps my mane under control 🙂

Comfy Dresses
MY OUTFIT DETAILS: FLOWY DRESS (20% OFF CODE: BTS – WEARING SIZE XS) || BLACK LACE UP SANDALS || WHITE TOTE || WATCH || SUNGLASSES
KIDS PINEAPPLE TANKS || CODY’S PADRE SWEATSHIRT
I got this dress last week and I loved it so much I got it in two colors. It’s 20% off right now – CODE: BTS. I realized I have a lot of long flowy dresses but not very many shorter – knee length ones. I wore the other one I got with tennis shoes this weekend and it works just as well dressed down as is does dressed up.
Mara loves getting B ready and dressed in the mornings. It is kind of like her life size doll 🙂 so she is always trying to coordinate their outfits. Whenever their pineapple shirts are clean it’s one of her favorite things to dress him in because it’s one of the only things they have that are truly “matchy-matchy”. It’s hard to find boy and girls clothes that are the same besides pajamas! 🙂
Anyway, hope you all are having a good week! Thanks for reading!

Packing for a trip can be a daunting task. In all honesty it’s probably my least favorite part of a trip. Between your clothes, makeup, toiletries, and hair products, even packing for a quick weekend trip can turn into a huge project! Throw a couple kids in the mix and you will definitely need a vacation after (as if you didn’t before 😉
With all our traveling this summer I’ve picked up a couple tips to making the packing (and unpacking) process a little easier.
- There’s nothing better than putting on a freshly cleaned clothes, but it’s not always an option when you are on the road. Keep your clothes feeling and smelling fresh by throwing a couple dryer sheets at the base of your luggage.
- Travel tight. Make the most of your space by rolling your clothes instead of folding them. It saves a ton of room!
- Roll your underwear and socks and tuck them inside of shoes and hats for extra room.
- Keep your jewelry from getting tangled by stringing your necklaces through a straw.
- Buy your own travel-sized containers and fill with your favorite products. I love the Nexxus Emergencee shampoo and conditioner set for my hair so it’s a must when traveling. Enriched with Elastin Protein and Marine Collagen it has really helped my dry hair! (Tip: Save by buying travel-size containers from a superstore or grocery store. I picked these up for a $1 they are five times more expensive at a department store)
- Some products I can’t transfer to travel sizes like my favorite frizz protectant spray (it’s a staple especially when I’m headed to humid climates and trying to curl my hair) so make sure and secure those inside a ziplock bag even if it has a lid. I had a lid pop off a hair product once a ruin a bunch of my clothes
- Leave a little extra room- Don’t fill your travel sized containersto the top. Leave a little room for air. When your 10,000 feet up the pressure expands and can cause your toiletries to explode if they are over filled.
- Take extra precaution to keep your liquids from leaking by sticking a piece of saran wrap between the lid and bottle. The change in altitude while traveling can wreak some serious havoc on your liquids. I also stick them in a plastic zip lock bag after to be extra safe.
- Protect your powders (eye-shadows, blush, bronzers, etc.) from a rough ride by packing a cotton pad in the palette before closing and packing away. Always pack your beauty products in the middle of your suitcase for the most cushion.
- Store your bobby pins in an empty Tic –Tac container so they aren’t floating all over your makeup bag or purse.
- Keep all your travel cosmetic staples in a prepackaged bag so anytime your traveling you have your favorite items ready to go to save a few minutes on packing.
Happy travels!

Christine
