We have been to the park on repeat lately. It’s so fun experiencing the seasons with a little one because everything is so new to them. B is in the phase where he literally tries to put everything in his mouth! Leaves are the worst! They crumble in like two seconds and he’s instantly trying to eat one of the pieces. I got this coat last week and I love the structure of the neck how it folds when it’s buttoned.

Today’s look is pretty stereotypical for me. I practically live in oversized shirts and sweaters during the fall. I never have second thoughts when purchasing something I know can be styled so many different ways. Comfortable, easy-to-wear layers are always my idea go to pieces.

Are you guys getting tired of seeing these jeans? They are my absolute favorite, as I am sure you have noticed 🙂 They kind of went from distressed denim, to destroyed denim when I fell down the steps a couple weeks ago! Ooops!  Even with the blown out knee I can’t throw them away. I’ve been stalking shopbop’s site waiting for my size to come in to get another pair, but now these over ripped ones have grown on me. Do you guys ever have those pieces that you just love so much you can’t give up even after they get stained or ripped?

To say that personal style can be inspired by anything may seem like a stretch. Between our favorite style mavens, Vogue, and the internet, the world is already full of fashion inspiration. But the truth is, style doesn’t evolve by constantly imitating itself. It progresses by finding inspiration in the ordinary.

That’s not to say that we will all be changing the future of fashion. Not every outfit inspired by something unexpected will be avant-garde or one-of-a-kind, but getting in the habit of finding new sources of inspiration will spark creativity and confidence in your own styling ability. When finding inspiration, a few key elements can give a lot of guidance, including color schemes, lines or structure, textures, and patterns.

While I was picking up a few office essentials at Target, I decided to create an office-appropriate look based on some of the basics you might find in a home office environment. One of my greatest sources of inspiration has always been color, so it was the first thing I drew from in creating today’s look. One color that caught my attention that would go cute in the office was this burgundy bench/stool. I was also drawn to the neutrals of this cute daily planner. The result of this inspiration was this camel cowl neck sweater and burgundy lip (color stand out 250)– office-appropriate, understated, and classic. The sophisticated but simple style of these items made me want to dress up my look which I completed with a pencil skirt and heels.

I was so excited to score this leather moto jacket on sale. The second I saw it I fell in love. I love when you find a good designer piece on major sale! You can’t say no to 40% off. Nordstrom is having so many good sales right now. These black distressed Rag and Bone skinnies are 40% off. This cognac oversized trapeze tote is such a steal under $25. I love the grey color too. And the navy and leather Michael Kors poncho I wore last week in this post is  now 40% off here. Sales, sales, sales, so many good pieces.

While I was browsing I stumbled across this leather backpack. I have been really anxious to find the perfect bucket bag, but in my quest led me to this instead. Its structure resembles the shape of the bucket bag but has the added convenience of the double shoulder straps. Between B and all the random things I seem to accumulate through out the day, a hands-free bag is pretty appealing right now. My husband saw the backpack in my car the other day and jokingly asked if I needed help with my homework lol. Backpacks might bring back memories of velcro and vinyl, but designers are revamping the old favorite with luxe materials and unique details in favor of a street-chic aesthetic (how cute is this one too). The sophisticated new vibe is setting the record straight – the backpack isn’t just for kids anymore.

If you follow me on Instagram you know I have been wearing tartan on repeat. The increasingly-popular print has taken on new life in a variety of color palettes and styles that can be easily  blended with other trends. It can be just as reminiscent of grunge as school girl, depending on how it is styled. I opted to incorporate the plaid into a mini skirt for a feminine but edgy feel. To keep the look current, I paired the skirt with other modern trends, like a cropped sweater and over-the-knee boots. Add the finishing touches with red lips and gold accessories and your good to go.

In recent years purchasing sweaters has been my main cold-weather vice, but this season I have noticed a compulsive tendency towards accumulating coats. One of my favorite trending styles is the cocoon coat. Its structured lines give it a classic, feminine elegance that can instantly make any outfit look more expensive (how gorgeous is this pink one). While a cocoon coat can be the focal point of a look, it can also be worn in ways to accent other pieces. I like to roll up the sleeves of my coats slightly and cuff my sweaters to highlight accessories. This is a great way to showcase bracelets, watches,  or other dainty additions to your ensemble. Personally, as a watch girl, I have found that this trick also makes it easier to wear my boyfriend watches without about adding bulk under my layers.

My obsession with collecting watches is insatiable so I was beyond excited when I got my hands on one from Tory Burch’s new watch collection. I wanted something that was different from my typical boyfriend style I gravitate towards  but also still ‘me’. This watch  was the perfect fit. It has a smaller face which makes it a little more chic, but it is still right up my alley with a classic but sporty style (and it comes in the cutest packaging – I’m a sucker for that).

You guys have heard me rant and rave about Nordstrom but I can’t say it enough: I always have been and always will be a Nordy’s girl. Their customer service is second to none. That said,  it should come as no surprise that I already have my eye on a few more of their pieces:

For me, Bath and Body Works is nostalgic. I remember growing up I would sneak into my mom’s bathroom and steal her Moonlight Path body cream or if they were having a good sale she would let me pick out a stash of my own (it’s still one of my favorite’s today).

I was excited to take part in the launch of Bath and Body Work’s new scent Wild Madagascar Vanilla. It has hints of wild jasmine and African pear that give it an exotic yet still natural smell. I used the fragrance as an inspiration for today’s camel and animal-print look to reflect the cozy effect of the vanilla-based scent.

The Ultra Shea Body Cream has been my favorite. The climate here in Utah is so dry that during the winter you really have to cake on the lotion to keep your skin from cracking. The body cream is so thick and moisturizing that I really only have to apply it once a day, which is a big win in my book. I am also always on the hunt for a good exfoliator to buff off dead skin in the shower. I hate when I find something I love, click on it, and it takes me to a page that doesn’t tell me where the item is from. I end up spending the next couple hours googling the most random things hoping to find the item I want. Or have you been on Instagram and seen someone’s outfit but it doesn’t say where it’s from? That’s why I am so thankful for The Hunt. It’s basically the cure for outfit envy.
