Beach Pieces Under $30

This swim coverup (under $30) is actually a top but I wore it as a dress for the beach 🙂

They had these giant swinging beds right on the beach they were so comfortable for relaxing!

Mara will start shaking with excitement as she laughs when B does something funny. It’s the cutest thing!

Last week we went to Mexico for a couple days with my family. We were all so excited when we found direct flights from SLC which meant it was only a 3 hour trip (so nice to find quick flights with kids). I was shocked! It’s faster for us to get to Mexico then New York! We pretty much didn’t leave the resort, the kids lived at the pool and the beach. We met another family that had kids all the same age as ours so the kids were best friends in 2 seconds. I always love how kids can make new friends so fast. I picked up some great swim/beach pieces before we left all under $30. I had been looking for a lightweight swim coverup – this lace top (under $30) I just wore as a dress and it worked perfect. Also obsessed with these sandals (under$30)- they look more expensive then they are and I plan on wearing them with everyday outfits this summer too. Also LOVE this fringe style (under $25) and this cute beach bag (under $25).

They also have the cutest swimsuits for kids right now all under $20. The boys love sharks and were so excited we found shark swimsuits for each of them (and how cute are these flip-flops and slip-ons?). We got this cute blue tankini for Mara and also love this floral ruffled style (comes in 4 colors).

Shades of Blue

I can’t handle how grown up he looks! He literally breaks my heart I love him so much!

I have no idea where he learned it, but B’s new favorite thing to do is stick his tongue out and then I say oh no! And he starts laughing hysterically. He thinks it’s the funniest thing in the world. And he will keep doing it over and over again.

I just got these little sneakers for B, they are on sale!

B turns two in less than a month! It’s really hit me these last couple days how old he’s getting. I feel like two is the age when your babies are officially toddlers. I’m just not ready to accept he’s growing up, but I do have to admit each stage really does get better (and harder!! Holy cow he is strong willed!). It’s like he’s my little buddy that just follows me around copying everything I do. He’s so inquesitive about everything. His favorite word right now is Thank you – It sounds more like “Hank Ew” but it’s the cutest thing, and he will say when it doesn’t even make sense to say it, it’s so funny. I did a Spring clean this weekend and almost half his clothes don’t fit anymore. Another reality check he’s growing too fast!! I got him some new stuff and he looks like such a mini grown up. Cody and I were dying over these little distressed jeans (seriously, how cute are these?!) I also love these striped knit t-shirts (also comes in v-neck). Every season I end up getting B new sneakers his feet grow so fast! I always get a pair here – they are one of my favorites and easy to get on which I like!

I got this cute chambray top for Mara and this striped shift dress. I also found some great light layers for Wes like this bomber jacket and this knit sweater on sale for under $10. And of course I got some stuff for myself 🙂 I love these cropped jeans because they show more of your shoes. Especially when you have sneakers or flats on it’s easy for your jeans to bunch at the bottom and I like having more ankle exposed especially for Spring/Summer. I love this fringy top – it’s on sale for $15 and I just got these blush sneakers for under $25 🙂

It’s Christmas week!! The kids are out of school and I’m so excited to take the week off and enjoy doing nothing with the babies. 3 Holiday Styling Dilemmas

Dilemma #1: You have a party to attend but it’s cold out! How can you find something that is festive but also warm and cozy?

One of the easiest (and prettiest!) ways to bundle up for a holiday party is with tights. This pair is actually really thick and warm so you don’t have to choose between wearing a dress and staying warm.

A nice coat is always a perfect solution to complete your party look. As tempted as you might be to layer up when it’s cold outside, I always prefer a coat so I don’t feel like you have to undress layer by layer once you start to warm up indoors. Don’t be afraid to side-step the traditional holiday colors either. You can stick to classic neutrals and finish off the look with subtle accessories in festive colors like a deep red lip and coat.

Dilemma #2: You have so many holiday parties to attend this season but you have a tight budget. What’s the most versatile piece you should get and what are different ways to style it?

Scarves are one of the best versatile pieces during the winter, and especially during the holidays. You can wear a scarf paired with a dress or just add it to your casual daily ensemble. I was able to put this whole outfit together (other than the shoes) for under $130. You can also wear your scarf as a poncho by wrapping it with a belt or wrap it around your shoulders as a shawl. I love this plaid scarf (under $10) for the holiday party season – the green and red tones make it a great accessory for holiday parties and since it can be styled in so many different ways you can transform whatever your holiday attire options are.

Dilemma #3: You have a family holiday party to go to and you want to look cute but need your outfit to be kid-friendly. What do you wear?

Whenever we attend holiday parties with a lot of other families and their kids attending, B is always running around a lot more chasing the rest of the kids. If it’s acceptable to wear pants for the dress code, I opt for pants assuming I’ll be bending down a lot and not wanting to deal with that in a dress or skirt. Find a nice tall boot to keep your look dressy and pair it with your festive pieces to make it holiday appropriate. Also loving these Old Navy over the knee boots I got in camel. This black boot is a great option under $60.

These days I get more excited to dress B for holiday parties than dressing myself. I love bow-ties so whenever there is an opportunity for him to wear one, he does. 😉 I love Old Navy’s selection – they have cute shirt and bow-tie sets for kids.

My Favorite Quote about Motherhood

I love when he runs to me for a kiss on his hand or knee or anything that hurts, half the time I think it’s just made up, but I love that he feels like he needs me to feel better 🙂 I hope this stage lasts for awhile!

I found this quote on Pinterest the other day (see below) and it really spoke to me. I feel like B is reaching that crazy stage of the two’s (even though he’s not quite two) and there are some days I wonder if I know what the heck I’m doing! When I find myself having one of those days I just try focusing on how I can make him laugh. Sometimes it’s tickles, or my ridiculous dance moves, but seeing him giggle and smile always erases those fears of doubt and I’m reminded there’s no perfect way to be a mom, all they need is your unconditional love 🙂

I’ve really been into scarves this season. They are the most basic piece but they really transform your look. I’m always drawn to the traditional plaids and buffalo checks and so many of my favorite finds this season have incorporated those prints. I love this sleeveless top (under $30) and how pretty is this plaid bomber (under $40)? I also got these slip-on sneakers and this scarf in green. The plaid flannel selection is also really good at Old Navy right now for kids and I’m obsessed with the wool trapper hats! Now if I can get B to keep it on his head for more than 2 seconds 😉

Hey guys! Football season is still going strong and Cody and I always look forward to seeing our teams play on Sunday. We had a pretty exciting match up a couple weeks ago with the Niners and the Seahawks, but for Cody’s sake I won’t remind you how the game ended. 😉

Team apparel is a must for showing your team spirit, not just game day but all year long. Now that temperatures are dropping it’s all about adding layers to spice up your team’s tee and make it more versatile. I layered my Majestic Significant Speed Seahawks tee (love the vintage heathered look of this tee) under a suede moto jacket for some different textures, tied a plaid shirt around my waist for color, and added tall boots for a more seasonal look. We’re in it for the long haul, so as it gets even colder you can layer up with beanies, scarves and more cozy accessories to take you through to the Super Bowl. It’s looking like it might be the Patriots again this year!

12 Ways to Be a Happier Mom

Growing up being a mom was something I looked forward to more than anything else. I couldn’t wait for the day to have kids of my own. There are days I feel on cloud nine where everything seems like rainbows and butterflies and parenting couldn’t be easier, then there are days and weeks where I wonder if I am being a good enough mom. I had one of those rough days last week where I was completely drained. I had a couple crazy days at work, my house was a mess, I had barely slept, B was whining over everything and I just broke down. I called Cody and was like I need you to take the kids – I need a couple hours to myself.

I use to set aside time every week to have a little me time and the last couple weeks just got so chaotic I didn’t do it and honestly it affected me as a parent. I don’t claim to know it all, trust me half the time I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’ve realized when I stick to these basic habits my life as a mom runs so much smoother!

GET ENOUGH SLEEP – Seriously I can’t stress this enough, get those zzz’s! When I don’t get a full night sleep my fuse is so short. You remember that breakdown I was telling you about, well that night I went to bed at 7:30pm and woke up at 8 am the next day. It was literally heaven! I don’t think I have slept that long in years, but I felt so good the next day! Obviously that kind of sleep can’t happen all the time – but a full 7-8 hours leaves you refreshed.
HAVE YOU TIME – You need time to yourself! My favorite is getting massages. I also love going shopping (an obvious one 🙂 but when I go by myself I actually get to try on the clothes and I’m not racing through the aisles trying to get it done as quick as I can. And I know this sounds cheesy, but after a couple hours I always miss B and it makes me more excited to get home and play with him.
DONT COMPARE YOURSELF – If your feeling down or stressed about your parenting, don’t go on social media and compare yourself to other moms or families that seem to have it all together. Remember social media is such a small glimpse of people’s lives! Instead look through pictures of happy moments with your own family.
LEARN TO LAUGH – Chaos comes with kids – and the more you embrace and learn to laugh at the imperfections the more relaxed you will be.
GET READY FOR THE DAY – Don’t get me wrong I lovvvvve sweats, but I always notice a difference in my demeanor when I get ready for the day. You don’t have to be in 5 inch heels and full on make up. Take a shower, or do your hair, something that puts a little effort into getting ready for the day.
WAKE UP EARLY – I love waking up early! I am typically up around 6-6:30 every morning. The mornings are my time to get stuff done before the kiddos wake up and also enjoy a little quiet time.
BE GRATEFUL – Every night (well we try to do it every night but sometimes we forget) Cody and I say what our favorite part of the day was. I think it’s so important to think about the things you are grateful for. When you focus on the positive it brings more positive things to your life.
GET OUT OF THE HOUSE – This has really been a more a recent thing – but Beckam needs to get out of the house in the morning or else he goes stir crazy! This one might not be for everyone (all kids are different)- but I have noticed a huge difference in B when we get out early and he can go run some of his energy off.
ENCOURAGE OTHER MOMS – Being a mom is definitely hard. Encourage other moms and friends you have that may be going through a hard week and let them know what you admire about their parenting, offer to take their kids for a couple hours, or just let them know they are doing a good job. It’s always nice to have the reassurance from your friends and family when you are having those tough days.
LET IT GO – Whether it’s picking up the house, or finishing those emails for work, sometimes you just need to let it go. There are days everything doesn’t get done and it’s ok. (if it has to get done you can always wake up early and do it in the morning 🙂
HAVE DATE NIGHT – I think this was one of the pieces of advice I heard over and over again before we got married, but it wasn’t until we had Beckam I really understood why. You need alone time with your spouse! Growing the bond between you guys makes you both better parents.
LISTEN TO THEM LAUGH – Nothing in the world makes me happier then listening to the kids laugh. Make it your goal everyday to get at least one deep uncontrollable laugh out of them. There really is no greater joy!

My Favorite Part Of October

Beckam would try to pick up every pumpkin accompanied by a grunt if it was too big or “ohhhh” if he was able to pick it up.

Pumpkin patches are our thing. It was always a family tradition growing up so I’ve loved bringing it into my own family now. We’ve been, not one, two, but three times so far this year. We go to different ones every time, I like to think of it as the tour de pumpkins, ha, I just made that up, but really I just LOVE the feeling of the season you get at the patch. Beckam’s all time favorite thing right now is balls, and all the round little pumpkins get B so excited he thinks it’s a field of his favorite toy. He tries to pick up about every other pumpkin we pass – half are three times his size but he still tries to move them and make them roll. It’s the cutest thing.

This textured white sweater I got last week for under $50 and I love this pair of ankle rain boots. Flannels are a must-have for the whole family (I just got Beckam this one and I love this sale print (under $20!) They are the perfect layering piece and are easy to dress up or down plus they are an easy way to coordinate a family look without going too matchy. Also the burgundy scarf I wore today is on sale under $20 🙂 They have lots of cute colors and it’s really soft.

Casual Days with B

We went from 90° last week to 50° and 3 days straight of pouring rain here in Utah so our boots and jackets are out in full force. I’m obsessed with this quilted jacket! YOU NEED IT. That’s all! It’s no surprise I’m a big fan of shopping in the men’s department, and especially love the boyish effect of the varsity sleeves. I found the top I’m wearing today in-store and got it in 2 colors. Beckam had his 18 month appt. yesterday and it hit me what a little boy he is turning into. I love watching him become more aware of the things around him and find so much excitement over the most basic things. The leaves have started to fall and jumping on leaves and hearing them crunch has quickly become one of his favorite things. Babies and toddlers in fall/winter clothes may be one of the cutest things ever. I love this vest for B and can’t get over these hightop sneakers (got them in navy too) – they make him look like such a big kid 🙁 I love and hate it all at the same time.

It’s that time again and I can’t believe how fast this summer flew by. We just started picking out back to school stuff for the kids amping up for the back to school season. We started earlier than usual this year to take advantage of the great back to school sales going on right now and we found some great pieces for the kids.

I got Mara these black slip ons (on sale) in hopes they will survive a year’s worth of recess. I’ve bought lighter colored slip-ons for the kids before but it seems like they always get dirty in 2 seconds. I also picked up these cute leopard fleece joggers, overalls, and this moto jacket (all on sale). Mara lives in leggings so we also picked up this pair in a couple colors while they are sale.

I am obsessed with these joggers for Wes so he now owns them in like 3 different colors since they are on sale. 🙂 He loves them too because he loves to match Cody and they fit really well. Camo is his favorite so the subtle detail on this hat (also on sale) coordinated perfectly with his joggers.

And per usual I picked up a couple pieces from the men’s side 😉 I’m always buying men’s shirts! Grabbed this henley and this soft football tee.

My two favorite items I got are these wedges (under $20 with the discount | also love this style) and this striped tee (under $6 with discount- comes in 12 colors). I also ordered these sandals (I love the open toe and tie detail), this cream linen blazer (obsessed! so anxious to get it), and this blue lounge shirt (I plan on wearing as a regular top).

For the kids I always get a pair of skinny jeans during this sale, it’s the only time they go on sale, honestly I haven’t found a skinny jeans for the kids I like better than these. The fit is really good. I also got the boys this cute hat (under $5), a couple tanks (this style in blue for B, this style for Wes), and this denim vest and sandals for Mara. They have REALLY cute little girl stuff.

These boyfriend jeans are my favorite jeans right now and they are 25% off (CODE: SPRING25). There is a reason a white tee (love this one because of the stitch detail) and jeans are one of the easiest go to combos – there are so many different ways to wear them! One of the simplest ways to freshen up this classic combo is by switching up your shoes. Espadrilles are having their moment right now, and are a great staple to add to your closet this season. I couldn’t help myself when I saw the stripe detailing on this pair (and they are under $20 can’t beat that :). Lace-up sandals are another great way to add some extra interest when paired against jeans. Swapping for a pair of pumps or strappy sandals is an easy way to transition a tee and jeans from day to night. Paying attention to details like shoes and accessories means you will never get bored of your favorite white tee and jeans.

White is a universal color everyone loves, but often people are afraid to wear it because they feel it pales them out. That can sometimes happen in the winter, but not in the spring and summer. Happy Monday guys! I can’t believe it’s March, B turns one this month. I am actually kind of freaking out about it. It’s all gone by so fast. I’ll probably get real cheesy and sentimental the next couple weeks so don’t mind my emotional-ness 🙂

When it comes to casual looks, you can never have too many oversized comfy pieces. I have always loved the fit of a boyfriend tee. One of my (not-so-secret) secrets is to steal from the boys. I used to consistently steal Cody’s shirts, but I’ve finally just started picking up my own in smaller sizes so they fit a little better. Men’s shirts are typically longer so it’s perfect for the half tuck look. A lot of times they are cheaper too, and you can’t say no to saving a few bucks 🙂 I actually picked myself up a small in the stripped shirt Cody has on today under his sweater. The sleeves can sometimes look a little boxy on short sleeve men’s shirts so try cuffing or rolling them. I also try and pair it with a feminine piece like a bright scarf or girly colored tote. I’m in love with this blush pink one I got for under $40.

Old Navy is running their huge baby and kids sale. Well all departments are up to 50% off but kids and baby start at five bucks. Both his tee and jeans from today’s post are on sale under $10. Confession I didn’t realize they were actually girl’s jeans until they came in the mail but you really can’t tell the difference and I love the color of the wash. I just got B this cute navy gingham shirt for under $10, this stripe hoodie with the little bear ears, and this dress shirt-bow tie combo I’m really excited for. The white henley he wore in my birthday post last week (which is one of my favorite shirts I have bought for him) is only $6. I ended up ordering two other colors because I loved it so much.

We have always loved to take Mio on walks but since we added a baby to the mix it is like a brand new experience. I can never tell who is more excited when it comes time for a walk – Mio or B. Every time we head out for a family walk, B instantly crack up and starts kicking his legs like crazy. He always gets a thrill out of his ‘pony’ rides. Mio still hasn’t added the word ‘heel’ to his vocabulary yet. Instead he grabs his leash by his mouth and acts like he is taking himself on a walk (which isn’t too far from the truth, actually – he weighs enough to do just about whatever he pleases!). As much as those two love walks, I think Cody and I might be the ones who enjoy our family walks the most since we get to witness how excited B and Mio get for the simple things. It has made family walks something we all look forward to.

Today I’m excited to share some of my favorites from Old Navy’s activewear sale. This long sleeve jersey tee (on sale under $20) is so soft I’m obsessed. Ive actually worn it with jeans too. It’s a great layering piece! They have so many colors I just ordered the bright pink (love my neons 🙂 Cody is always looking for good sweats. He got these jogger sweats in both colors.

Cody and I both hate the cold, so we welcomed the abnormally warm December weather with open (and sometimes even short-sleeved) arms. But with Christmas right around the corner, we found ourselves wishing for some snow ( I swear I thought those words would never come out of my mouth!). The kids especially kept asking how long until it snows??? So we decided to surprise them and head up to the mountains. Their eyes lit up at the first sight of snow. They were out waist deep before they could even put on all their warm layers. 10 minutes into it, Wes comes back covered and can’t figure out why he’s so cold. Mara thinks it’s funny to keep dumping snow down his back which definitely didn’t help the situation! Needless to say our snow adventure ended pretty quick. After about 20 minutes we realized the idea was better then the reality. We were all freezing!! and decided to enjoy our snow day through the window of a warm, cozy restaurant. Four hot chocolates please!

Doesn’t it feel like Christmas sneaks up on us every year? I can’t believe it’s only 7 days away. I’ll be honest I’ve barely made a dent in my shopping list. I hate to admit it but I am a procrastinator when it comes to buying gifts. I always swear the next year I will start earlier and it never happens!
