OLLIE: GIRAFFE COSTUME (THRIFTED – SIMILAR HERE AND HERE)

Happy Halloween weekend! As someone who loooooves getting dressed up, I always look forward to all the costume parties and festivities leading up to Halloween. We have a full family costume for tonight that I’ll be sharing soon (can’t wait!) but my mom found this vintage giraffe costume for Ollie at a thrift store for $5. I immediately knew I wanted to match him! I found this amazing giraffe dress from Retrofete and it was perfect.

With all the animal print trends right now, the last-minute costume possibilities are endless! I love the idea of shopping your closet for an outfit or dress you can use for a costume (or even better, buying a new dress for a Halloween costume that you will wear after!) If you haven’t planned a costume yet, raid your closet for your favorite animal print pieces – leopard, zebra, giraffe, whatever you have! Take it to the next level with a hair style to complete the look (high mini buns are the cutest for animal looks!) and last but not least, makeup! My friend Jill did my makeup (she also did our makeup here) but you can also DIY it with a Youtube tutorial. This is a good giraffe print option under $50 and also love the print on this one (on sale under $100).

CANDY CORN CUPCAKES

| Makes: 12 Servings|

Ingredients:

• 1 white cake mix
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup sour cream
• ½ cup milk
• ⅓ cup vegetable oil
• Garnish: candy corns and orange sprinkles

• 1 cup butter
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream

3 MUSKETEERS FUDGE BROWNIES

| Makes: 12-15 Servings |

Ingredients:

• 1 box brownie mix, baked according to package directions in 9×9 pan, cooled
• 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
• 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
• 1 (11 oz) bag Fun Sized 3 Musketeers bars, chopped

Instructions:

• Bake brownies in 9×9 pan, according to package directions. Allow to cool completely.
• When cooled sprinkle half of the chopped 3 Musketeers bars on top of brownie evenly.
• Combine semi-sweet chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in bowl. Melt together over a double boiler.
• When melted pour over brownies and chopped candy bars, spreading evenly. Press remaining candy bars into the fudge layer.
• Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow fudge to set.
• Cut into squares.

PEANUT BUTTER SNICKERS COOKIES

| Makes: 24 Servings |

Ingredients:

• 3/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
• 1 large egg
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 1 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
• 1 tablespoon Dutch process cocoa powder
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 1/4 cups diced chocolate peanut butter candy bars, loosely packed, such as Reeses, Peanut Butter Snickers, or Reeses Pieces
• 1 1/4 cups additional diced leftover candy: Snickers, Milky Way, M&Ms, or additional peanut butter candy bars
• 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER KIT KAT CRUNCH BARS

| Makes: 9-12 Servings |

Ingredients:

• 1 heaping cup creamy peanut butter
• 1/2 cup light corn syrup (light-colored, not lite)
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Chocolate topping:

• 1 heaping cup diced Kit Kat pieces
• 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
• 1 cup Rice Krispies cereal

CANDY CORN M&M WHITE CHOCOLATE FUDGE

| Makes: 16 Servings |

Ingredients:

• 3 C white chocolate chips
• 1 tbsp unsalted butter
• 1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ C candy corn
• ½ C fall M&Ms
• 1-2 tbsp Fall colored sprinkles

Instructions:

• Line a 9×9 baking pan with foil, folding the foil over the edges of the pan. Spray with cooking spray. Wipe away excess with a paper towel.
• In a large sauce pan over low heat, heat the white chocolate chips, butter and sweetened condenses milk. Stir often until melted and easy to stir. Mix in the vanilla extract and then the candy corn and M&Ms.
• Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and smooth if needed (I did not need to smooth mine). Top with sprinkles.
• Let set at room temperature until set. You can also refrigerate for an hour or two to firm up the fudge faster.
• Remove from the pan by lifting the edges of the foil. Cut into squares.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! This year Cody and I decided to do another glam theme look (you can see last years look here). We had it down to 2 different options and decided on vampires (saving the other idea for next year)! I wanted it to feel vintage with dark tones and decided on the this dress to set the tone. The colors were perfect and I loved the jacquard detailing. I also added this velvet choker (under $30) and this strappy and lace bralette to add some detailing and interest to the look. I love how all the straps layed in the back with the bra and dress overlay.

The make up was really key, thanks to my amazingly talented friends Jill and Tatum who did my hair and makeup! We used a deep bordeaux lip (this one in shade miss conduct with a black lip liner), pale makeup, a bit of glitter, and a dramatic smokey eye. And the best accessories for a more realistic look were the add-on fangs and colored contacts (how cool did this pink pair turn out?! Cody stuck to red for more of a hungry vampire look). Voila!

Cody and I did our first Facebook live last night! Did any of you guys watch? It was a lot longer than I thought it was going to be lol, sorry if we rambled! But it was so much fun! We are going to do another one this Sunday, so if there is something in particular you want to see let me know 🙂

 Fall is one of my favorite season’s not only because of all the beautiful scenery but I love decorating for the holidays. Today I have teamed up with Lulu’s for their Something Wicked Blog Week to share with you my DIY Glitter Pumpkin. The glitter pumpkins are great for Halloween or Thanksgiving, so if you already have your decor for Halloween here is an early idea for Thanksgiving.
This is a super easy craft,  just be ready for a glitter party 🙂
