Our family easter pictures are always one of my favorites of the year – with 6 people, getting a family pic with coordinated outfits can be rare 😂 so I always get excited for our family Easter outfits. I feel like the kids are all finding their own style, this year more than ever, and we are all obsessed with Nike Dunks right now so I thought it would be fun to embrace the color this year, especially with our shoe game. We all wear our Dunks and Jordans so much – they go with everything and come in so many different colors. The kids love them so much that they have saved up to buy their own pairs. Super comfortable and great quality 🙌🏼

Mara picked out her dress, I loved the colors and it’s such a good price point. she had idea to wear long sleeve underneath since it’s still kind of cold here. Cannot believe it’s $7.25!!

SHOPBOP – One of my favorites when I’m shopping for dresses, and other designer pieces. They are good at their overnight shipping it’s not like 2-3 day processing time like a lot of other retailers. They are great with really getting things overnight or if you have prime membership you can get in 2 days.

If I get my vote, I give it a 10/10. Jeans are such a back to school staple and I was dying at how cute he looked in these. (on sale under $20). I kept them and said sometimes you have to wear jeans to certain events, so hoping I can convince him to give denim another chance haha.

And we’re off!! The beach has been calling our name! Travel style always means comfy style – I bought this cute tie-dye tee but always freeze on the plane so it’s the sweatshirt travel style life for me haha. Also loooove these APL sneakers! It’s my second  pair, but first one in this style. I know I’m late to the game but I am obsessed with these ones. So comfortable and love the speckled detail on the sole! I’ve had these biker shorts for a year now and they are hands down my favorite – you guys are probably sick of seeing them 🙈 but the ribbing is so soft and comfortable – seriously the best and under $100! Also using this yellow bag again – I think I found my new go-to travel bag. It’s huuuuge and fits pretty much everything you could possibly need for the flight. (It’s also a really comfortable plush material and really comfortable to carry around the airport.)

A lot of recents DM’s from you guys have been about a few Ollie/travel-related things so I thought it would be a good to answer in a post with some of the common ?’s and some of my tips.

The Trike/Stroller

Most genius invention ever. It’s a mix between a trike and a stroller and perfect for toddlers, both while traveling or at home running errands, going on walks, etc. It folds up so you can fit it in a backpack it comes with. We didn’t have anything like this when Beckam. It’s a must! (Also make a great gift since it’s a bit of a splurge, but it’s worth every penny.) If your baby is younger the Doona stroller that converts from a stroller to a carseat was a FAVE of ours too. We loved both Doona products.

Lap-seat or splurge for a separate seat?

Almost all airlines will let you take an infant (under 2) without making you purchase a separate ticket for them. The only catch is no ticket = no seat so they have to sit on your lap for the duration of the flight. After Ollie turned one he stopped falling asleep in my arms, so I usually decide whether I get him a seat or not depending on how long the flight is. For flights under 2 hours I’ll usually just have him sit on my lap and not spring for another ticket. For flights over 2 hours, I’ll get Ollie his own ticket so I can bring his car seat so he’ll be able to take a nap during the flight.

Car Seats

Which brings me to this point – bringing a car seat on the plane. I was surprised at how many DMs/comments I got that some of you didn’t know you could bring a car seat on the plane. A lot of people will check or gate-check their car seats but you 100% can take them on the plane. It makes naps sooo much easier when traveling – especially with long flights.

Milk

This is a random one, but so many flights don’t have milk on the plane anymore. So don’t forget to bring milk on longer flights.

Use Food As A Toy

Ollie is still so intrigued with snacks, I always bring lots of snack options over toys. Especially when your landing and taking off, something they can suck on or chew helps their ears pop.

Don’t Board First

Okay a lot of times were late 😂 But even when we aren’t I never board first. It’s more time your child has to sit in their seat. It definitely takes a second to get settled with kids but if your traveling with someone maybe have one person go on first and get seat set up and put stuff away while the other tries to get as much energy out of your little one as you can.

Crying is OK

I think one of the biggest things, especially with long flights is managing expectations. Your child might cry and that’s ok. But kids pick up on our stress so if your freaking out it will only stress them out more. 90% of the time people are super understanding and you’re probably more worried about it then they are. I always have an emergency treat in case all else fails, but I try to save it as a last resort. For Ollie it’s suckers or mints 🙂

Hope this helps a little! I know some people ask if I’m glad we travel with the kids and the answer is 100%. Some of my favorite memories ever are on trips. We’ve had bad flights, but once you get to your spot and get to make the memories you will quickly forget and enjoy the family time!

These leggings are one of the best baby basics. They are great gender neutral color combo and they also come in a pretty deep green set and a navy set. You can’t have enough of these! So comfortable and versatile.

H&M is one of the best places to try new trends that are good quality but still affordable. One of my favorite trends right now is shackets and I swear H&M has the best! All of their shackets are flying out of stock right now but this one is fully stocked in all colors. I love this shorter twill one and this quilted one is so good.

I couldn’t believe my eyes on the price of this cropped sweatshirt (or the stock!). Both colors are so good and the full sleeves make them read much higher end. I was shocked that they were both fully stocked but I know they won’t stay that way.

RIB-KNIT CARDIGAN (ON SALE UNDER $25)

Another one of my favorite, most-worn trends from this season is button-up cardigans as tops. Whether you go for cropped and flirty or more oversized and effortless, you can’t go wrong! This one comes in 3 gorgeous colors  on sale under $25.

H&M Home is also included in the 20% off which rarely happens! I love their aesthetic, especially with all their decor items. How cozy does this shearling blanket look!? They have gorgeous vases especially and also have some holiday stuff on their site and already on sale – loving the color scheme vibes of these ornaments!

Summer sunsets where we live are absolutely stunning. Our favorite part of the day (and clearly Ollie’s!) is after dinner going out for a walk to watch the sun go down. There’s just something about summer nights that just make you so happy. Beckam loves to ride his bike and Ollie wants to be big and walk so bad but loves to be pushed around in the stroller! I have to be cozy when we go on our walks so I love this tie-dye hoodie because it’s the right amount of comfy but really light so it’s not too hot during the summer – and who doesn’t love a tie dye print to match the sunset?! These pants are super lightweight as well and fit baggier so they almost feel like thin sweatpants! Cody is all about lightweight in the summer too. He loves these navy shorts, and this thin button-up. Even though it’s been a different vibe this summer, I love that it has been super laid back where we can just focus on really being together and genuinely enjoy the little moments we take for granted! With a 5 year gap between Beckam and Ollie, it’s almost like I’m having to learn everything all over again. There are so many new brands and products that it’s almost like starting fresh (with the exception of some tried and true products :). I think one of the biggest differences is all the cute baby clothes especially for boys! I loved dressing B up, but I feel like there are so many more options now. One of my newfound favorites is Kyte Baby. I was introduced to them a couple months ago and they have THE SOFTEST clothes ever! (Also hosting a giveaway on my IG – keep reading for details!)

APPAREL:

I love their selection of baby clothes! Their pieces are made out of bamboo (which helps regulate baby’s temperature) and soooo buttery soft! Honestly I was shook by how soft their products are. Not only do they have a great variety of silhouettes, they also have amazing color options and prints (how good is this rainbow print?!). The zippered footies are worth their weight in gold! They have a textured bottom to give them extra grip while babies/toddlers stand or start to walk. They also have toddler sizes up size 7 so you can get matching pajama sets for Beckam.

SLEEP BAGS:

One of the biggest tips I learned from working with a professional sleep trainer for Ollie was the importance of sleep sacks. They make a huge difference! Not only is it a sleep cue to help them get in their bedtime routine, but it helps prevent them from crawling out of the crib as they get older. Kyte Baby’s sleep bags are all temperature regulated, so you can use a thicker one during winter and a thinner one during summer. Such a good idea and again, so many great color options.

NURSERY/HOME:

Kyte Baby also has tons of pieces for the nursery and home. Their blankets are also made out of their super soft bamboo material (they have baby, kid, and adult blankets). The crib sheets are on my wish list but they sell out fast. Tons of color options but you just have to move quick when you see the color you want. 🙂 They also have a bath collection with robes from baby to adult, washcloths, brushes, and more. Need to try!

We are still trying to figure out landscaping for our backyard – so many of you guys weighed in on the pool debate so now it’s back in the running, haha. But we felt like we weren’t taking advantage of our backyard space, so when I found this cute kids’ patio set on sale I thought it would be the perfect solution. We had some left over gravel from another landscaping project, so we put it down to buy us some time before we decide if we are doing a pool area, pavers, grass, etc. I love the color combo and it’s all good quality but still lightweight so the kids can move it around easily. Both Cody and I still sit on it, even though its kids sizes, so it’s become a fun new hang out spot in the backyard. There’s no better way to break it in than with some yummy snacks. Mara usually loves playing server but all the kids loved hanging out on their new patio set while I put together some snacks for them.

I found some cute outdoor pieces for 4th of July – loved these striped and checkered napkins and got these reusable straws which are perfect for a backyard BBQ or any festive celebrations.  Also linking to our outfits and other cute summer pieces below. My favorite thing in the world is seeing Cody as a dad. It makes me tear up thinking about how amazing he is to our kids and all he does for our little family! Sometimes life gets so busy and it’s easy to look past everything dads do for us and so I love fathers’ day because it allows you to really slow down and look at all the little things you some times miss. Being home together every day during this quarantine has actually been so amazing because I feel like it put things into perspective on how important (and FUN!) it is to play and laugh together as a family- really focus on each other which has made us want to try and be that way all the time. With Fathers day coming up I’ve been trying to count my blessings with Cody and stop and focus on all the little things he does every day for us.

Here are my top 3 favorite things about Cody as a dad:

1. At night Cody is amazing at shutting off his phone and everything that could tie him into work and so he can have family time really focus on playing with the kids, and having dinner together. After dinner, we all love too and wind down play board or card games as a family and its so fun to have that time with no distractions.
2. He is such a good example for the boys! Beckam and Wes look up to Cody so much and I absolutely love that. They always want to dress just like their dad from hat to shoes, and do what he loves to do like going on adventures outside, riding dirt bikes or playing sports- it’s seriously so cute! Ollie loves his dad too he will say “dada” and just smiles so big.
3. He is so creative with the kids – his love language is quality time so he will make up the craziest games or think of fun things to do that I would never think of haha. Like he made up a board game for chores – and the kids actually like to do it!

Growing up I was such a daddies girl- and still am, and always wanted to make sure that whoever was the dad to my kids was as close to our kids as I was to my dad.  Okay, I’m done with the sappy rant over Cody lol- I want to know what you’re favorite things are about the dads in your life!

FAMILY SQUATS:

I hold ollie in the front and Cody throws Beckam on his back for a little extra weight.  My legs are still burning from the other day haha.

FAMILY PUSH UPS.

I’m a push up wimp so I do as many as I can on my feet and then move to my knees. Cody does some max reps with all of us on his back, it’s pretty funny.  I have no idea how he does it!

My kind of push-ups, haha.

COUPLE JUMP ROPING:

We go until we can do the full alphabet together. If we mess up – we start over and try to do a couple sets of the alphabet.

ARM BURNOUT:

Lift kids above your head, I very lightly toss Ollie in the air – he loves it and it gives your arm a good work out. I do as many as as I can until my arms burn out and I can’t do more.

Cody needed some fresh socks and I loved these grey striped ones, they pair really great with these shoes we found. These Nike tees come in five different colors- he’s wearing the grey but we also got this black one as well. These are super basic and easy to wear with a pair of black shorts like these.

When I saw this track set for Beckam I was dying over it and knew I had to get it for him! Hey guys, I’m sorry I have been so bad with blog posts the last week. We are having issues getting high res images to upload, its driving me bonkers, but they are supposed to be getting it fixed this week fingers crossed! I have a couple home posts I am so excited to share but I want to be able t have the images not be blurry!

We are still living in loungewear. I got these looks a couple months ago for the fam, When you start adding some of your favorite loungewear to your cart and end up with a full family look. 😂 I almost died when I saw these cute baby Superstars for Ollie and then got so excited to find him an infant Adidas set (okay, I might’ve ended up with this one too – so cute!). If you’ve seen any of my posts lately, you know that you don’t have to talk me into a comfy sweatshirt or pair of joggers – these are actually men’s joggers, I just sized down to a small in bottoms for that oversized look (also got a couple men’s sweatshirts in a size M, but will also be stealing Cody’s. 😉 Also got these grey joggers and love the logo pattern!

Hey guys! Wanted to do an Easter recap. The day just flew by so fast on Sunday I didn’t get a chance to put this together until yesterday. The kids all crowded around Ollies crib and slept by him on the floor because they wanted to be by him for his “first Easter.” It was so sweet! Mara told me later that Beckam kept waking up asking if he could go try and catch the Easter bunny so Ollie kept waking up hearing B talk haha I don’t think anyone got much sleep 😉 We did an Easter egg hunt, and I printed some church actives and Cody and I streamed church from home. We all got dressed up and it still felt like Easter, honestly I kind of liked it a little more because we weren’t running around everywhere 🙂

I  gotten lots of questions on our outfits, my dress is by Zimmerman one of my favorite brands – they always have the best spring prints especially! Floral prints this season are extra romantic and sophisticated – here is a similar vibe under $100; also love the print of this flowy dress and how good is this one? We found this cute wrap dress (only $11!) for Mara and she loves that she’ll be able to wear it out for any occasion since it’s easy to dress up or down.

I love seeing the boys dressed up in matching suits on Easter! Found this one to fit Wes and this one for B’s size. Even when they are in matching suits, they still make it their own by opting for white sneakers and their own undershirt. (Love this floral patterned button down Wes chose – such a cool print to make a suit more his own style!) With a white button down like Beckam, you can add a little pocket square to add some more color. Ollie wore the overalls Beckam wore on his first Easter – I didn’t save a ton of B’s clothes but it makes me so happy seeing him in some of the special ones ❤️ Here’s a pic of B on his first Easter and Ollie on his 😍

Hey guys! Real talk… I don’t post as much as I used to on the blog, and I wanted to see how many of you guys still enjoy coming here for content?  This has been such an incredible journey, and even though social platforms are where we spend a lot of our time, I’m forever grateful for you following along, old and new, who read here. It means so much! I like the blog because it allows me to share a lot more and write more!

My blog, like my clothing line ILY Couture, has always gradually evolved with me. For those of you who may not remember, I started ILY when I was engaged and looking for some headpieces to wear to my wedding. I couldn’t find what I wanted, so I decided to make my own! From there, it evolved to jewelry, women and kids clothing and more. I remember when I got pregnant with Beckam, we made our ‘Preggers’ tee, and then our iconic ‘Wifey’ tee. Hello Fashion has been evolving also – initially just fashion, then expanding to include family and lifestyle, beauty, travel, home decor, and more. I feel like you guys are truly friends and I love the community we’ve created, so it feels right to share the natural progression of my life.

After having Ollie I did a Q&A on insta and asked what you missed seeing and people said fashion. I hadn’t even realized it but None of my recent pictures on Insta were in jeans, but then upon a closer look I realized I had barely posted jeans in the year prior (part of that was just living in swimsuits and dresses during my pregnancy 🙂 and it occurred to me how much my brand has grown to be more lifestyle than just fashion. I have always loved fashion and love sharing my new finds with you guys, but as I’ve been trying to reflect on my brand, I wanted to give you guys a chance to weigh in. The last thing I want this to be is asking you guys ‘What content do you want to see more of?” that has been so prevalent this year. But for those of you who read here – what do you love the most?  fashion and street style? Or do you prefer the family content at home?  I would love to hear your thoughts below. Adding another one to the family, there’s always a fear of not being good enough or falling short in some way, wondering how Beckam will adjust not being the baby anymore, and about a million other thoughts! But I think one thing I’ve learned is that most of the time I create these things in my head and worry about things that often never happen haha. Anyone else? Being a mom, a good mom, was something I’ve looked forward to since I was a little girl. And I know there are days I nail it and I can tell my kids feel so loved, and other days I know I’m falling short, but the biggest thing I’ve realized is how much my attitude as a mom can affect the whole family! So I wanted to share 10 habits I’ve found help me to be a better, happier mom:

Expressing gratitude.

It’s so important to be mindful of everything you have to be grateful for! Whether it’s expressing gratitude to your kids, your spouse, or even just consciously acknowledging or writing out everything you have to be thankful for, it will help you focus more on the positive versus the negative.

Being open-minded.

There is no perfect way to be pregnant or to be a perfect mom. What works for your neighbor may not work for you, and that’s ok! Be open-minded to other people’s perspectives and way of doing things. and be okay if things aren’t always perfectly put together. Putting unrealistic expectations on yourself for what needs to be done, or how your kids should act or what they should be achieving just sets you up for stress.

Not comparing yourself.

In that same vein, they say comparison is the death of joy and it couldn’t be truer about motherhood! There will always be moms who might be more organized than you, a better cook, etc. Instead of comparing yourself to see how you stack up, focus on yourself and your goals. You are your own benchmark! Praise yourself for the things you’re good at, whether it’s just mentally or actually saying it out loud.

Exercising.

The more pregnant I get, the harder it’s been to stick to a regular exercise routine, but staying active is just as important for the body as it is for the mind! Find some type of exercise you enjoy and make it part of your daily routine. Right now, swimming laps is my favorite form of exercise – not only is it a great way to beat the heat, it’s also a lifesaver in alleviating the restless leg syndrome I’ve had this pregnancy.

Focusing on the positive.

During another sleepless night last week, I listened to a motivational speaker and loved what they said about focusing on positive, empowering thoughts. It’s all about confirmation bias – your mind will automatically search for information or experiences that reinforce your beliefs. So if you tell yourself your are failing as a bad mom, your mind will always pick out those experiences to reinforce that belief and disregard anything that disproves it. This applies to everyone, in every stage of life. It’s so important to focus on the positive and things that can empower you as a person! Reflect on your thoughts… are you choosing ones that empower you?

Knowing when to ask for help.

There are always going to be days that are stressful and overwhelming – don’t be afraid to ask for help! You’ll start to identify triggers or signs that you are running out of steam, so before you feel completely drained, enlist help. Have your kids go to the neighbor’s house to play for an hour or get someone to help you come tackle a cleaning day. And get creative! It doesn’t always have to involve spending money. You can trade off with neighborhood moms or find creative ways to get an hour to ‘refill your cup’ without hiring a babysitter.

Being open with other moms.

I was talking to my friend the other day who I look to as a great mom. She’s a stay at home mom and always does a great job planning stuff for her kids. She was saying that sometimes she feels she doesn’t have the creativity to sit and play pretend dolls for long periods of time, and after 5-10 minutes she catches her mind thinking about other things. I have that same problem, and hearing someone I look to as a great mom say the same made me feel better. I thought it was just me! Being open with other moms about your struggles or on the flip side, fun things you do with your kids, will create a space for advice and learning – and you can only improve from learning from others!

Making time for yourself.

Obviously you love your kids, but make sure you are getting time away to nurture yourself too. I love going out to get a mani/pedi, going to dinner with a friend after the kids go to bed, or just going shopping. Target is always my happy place – I could wander the aisles forever! Or for some ‘you’ time at home, get the kids riled up for a wrestling match with dad to get some of their energy out. It’s literally Wes and B’s favorite thing to do! Whatever it is, just make sure you are regularly carving out some time for yourself to do something you love so that you don’t lose yourself in your role of ‘mom’.

Encouraging others.

One of my best friends is so good at sending me notes reminding me I’m a great mom, and honestly they MAKE MY DAY. Take a moment to lift other moms up around you and let them know something you appreciate or admire about them. Have you ever noticed that the more you focus on helping or encouraging other, the more joy it brings to your life in general? Not that that’s the reason you should do it 😉 but you know what I’m say. 🙂

Knowing that you are an amazing mom.

There will be days you have mom guilt or feel burnt out, but it’s important to remember how much you do and focus on the ways you are succeeding. Especially when they are young, kids look up to you like their hero and all they want to do is hang out with you. So cut yourself some slack and realize you are doing a GREAT job!

I can’t believe summer break has come to an end! It’s bittersweet because I love having the kids home from school and getting to spend so much time together, but the excitement of back to school shopping softens the string a little. 🙂 I always looked forward to back to school shopping when I was a kid and it’s been just as much fun as a parent now! Here are 4 back-to-school style pieces that every kid needs for the year ahead.

1. Something fun! You will never regret investing in a statement piece that your kids get excited to wear. Sure they might try to wear it 3 days in a row, but there are worse things, right? 😉 Mara loved this pom-pom sweatshirt and tulle skirt. It’s a fun outfit to throw into their school clothes rotation and every kid needs an outfit they feel extra special in and I love this one! It’s so fun to see the kids’ personality and style develop as they get older every year.
2. Staples they can mix and match. This is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in buying kids clothes. The more versatile and mixable the pieces you buy, the more use you’ll get out of them. Think solids, layers, and classic patterns like stripes or camo. Gymboree’s latest campaign has lots of options to mix and match so just a few new pieces can go a long way and create multiple outfits.
3. Graphics. There’s a happy middle ground between busy prints and basic solids and it’s call graphics! They are a great way to let the kids’ personality show through and can help break up the patterned and solid pieces they own. I love the fun patches on this graphic pullover and it’s also pretty accurate. 😉
4. Everything comfortable. If it’s not comfy, my kids won’t wear it. (Actually, I’m the same way with my clothes haha!) So the biggest things to look for are comfort and quality – pieces that can handle whatever kids throw at them. That’s especially true of denim, which probably gets the brunt of a fun day. Love the jeans we found for Wes and B which are really soft and still durable. Gymboree is dialing up the comfort and softness of their line, so it’s a great destination for quality pieces.

Happy Monday guys!! How was your weekend? Ever since it’s started warming up here we can’t help but to be outside as much as possible. These pics were from last week, One of B’s favorite things to do lately is ride his bike around the neighborhood (before everyone freaks out about not having his helmet one- he has one and wears it!! He just wanted to show our friends his new bike before Cody went to dinner with his friends 🙂 On laid back days like this I totally go for my typical mom uniform which usually includes comfy jeans (these are under $100) and a good basic tank. These distressed jeans are so comfy and I love wearing them with more casual outfits. I’m also obsessed with these layered necklaces (here and here) and have been wearing them with everything!

This weekend Mara and Wes were over (I always get so many dm’s asking why they aren’t in more pics, or who these new kids in my insta stories are lol, so I know I sound like a broken record but they are my step babies and we only have them part time 🙂 We started doing yard work this weekend, and some spring cleaning getting ready to have people over! We have a covered patio in the back on the second floor of our house and we haven’t done anything with it since we moved in, it had patio furniture I bought the summer before but we were gone so much it never got assembled 🙈 so this weekend we cleaned it all up and finally put the furniture together! I had this fun idea to build a tent and camp outside on the patio, sleep under the stars with the kids and eat popcorn all night. It was going to be perfect, so we borrowed my sister in laws tent, attempted to set it up – Cody and I ended up arguing over how to put up the tent half way into it lol, realized it wouldn’t stay up super well because it’s on a patio and we don’t have dirt to secure it down to, so needless to say my picture perfect tent night under the stars turned into a disgruntled mess! Ha! Cody and I ended up laughing about it because I think as a parent sometimes we create these “special” moments in our head of what we want something to be, and it doesn’t work out! So the next night, Cody pulled our mattresses onto the deck and set up the tv with popcorn and blankets all sweet to surprise us. We started to watch The Wizard of Oz, and realized how noisy it was and that we all get allergies haha – we bagged it again.

Now everyone is asleep in our room and I’m wide awake for some reason, watching reruns of The Office, and just thinking about how thankful I am for family…. anyways – have you guys had one of those moments you build up in your head and it doesn’t quite work out 😉
