I feel like my beauty routine has evolved over the years – I used to love having tons of palettes and lip colors to choose from, playing with different beauty looks every day, going all out when I had a MUA doing my looks. But now I find myself a lot more simplied in my routine and reaching for the same products over and over.

Since all of my products are on sale at Sephora right now, I wanted to share my current beauty lineup and makeup faves:

1. Moisturizer: When I’m wearing makeup this is my go to. What’s really unique about this one compared to my other favorite moisturizers is that it smooths and almost doubles as a primer. It’s super hydrating and smooth as butter. Feels so good on your skin! Great price point too, especially compared to some of the really high-end moisturizers I love – this one is under $100
2. Highlighter: This one gives the prettiest dewy finish! I dab a tiny bit on my fingers and then tap onto my cheekbones lightly to apply or you can put one pump in with your foundation – A little bit goes a long way. I use star glow shade.
3. Foundation:  last winter I tried this foundation for the first time and it instantly won me over. It melts into your skin perfectly, blends amazing, and you only need a single pump for your whole face – maybe less. It’s good coverage but doesn’t go on thick. Honestly I think it’s the holy grail of foundation. I wear shade 11N in the winter and just bought my summer shade – 120.
4. Blush: I’ve been using this blush and it’s worth all they hype. I wear shade “Joy” and “Happy”. They blend so well and are the prettiest shades for that youthful, feminine glow Also love this blush wand.I have also doubled and used for lipstick too 😉
5. Foundation Brush: This is the best brush! I picked this up when I got the corresponding foundation. It has one end for building and the other for blending so you have great control when applying.
6. Bronzer: Another new product that I was instantly converted to. Love how natural this bronzer goes on!
7. Dior Palette: Palettes are so iffy for me – I feel like I’ll be obsessed with one for a few months and then move on to the new hot palette, so on and so on. But I’ve had been using this one for years and it’s still my go-to. Prettiest colors and blends so well.
8. Finishing Powder: This powder is everrrrything! A holy grail product for me. It blurs all your pores, smooths out any blemishes, and just makes your skin flawless – just like it’s name says. I wear shade 1.
9. Mascara: This mascara goes on so smooth and doesn’t transfer which is the biggest thing for me, especially as we head into spring/summer. Love the wand to help keep lashes separate while it lifts and lengthens.
10. Dior Lip Oil: Love this gloss – comes in multiple shades and it has a moisturizing finish. Feels super luxe and lasts for hours.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY LOOK OF LOVE PALETTE – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4.5/5 Charlotte Tilbury’s palettes are everything! I just got this one in ‘Glowing Beauty’ and love all the colors together. It definitely deserves all the buzz it gets. PRO: this is the perfect palette for traveling. It has 3 eye colors, 3 face colors, and a cheek color plus you can mix, match, and blend making it super easy to pack your makeup bag for any upcoming trips. For every day makeup looks at home I’ll throw in my go to bronzer or blush outside the palette. But this has the prettiest shades to mix and match for a beautiful neutral beauty look. I docked it a .5 of a point because of what I said about mixing with other products. Its a 5/5 for traveling but a 4.5/5 for at home. I’m wearing this palette in the above pic/video. Blush, shadow and bronzer.

LANCOME LASH PRIMER – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

6/5 stars. Obsessed! If you don’t use a lash primer, you don’t know what you’re missing. And if you do use one but it’s not Lancôme, you still don’t know what you’re missing. 😂 I have tried multiple lash primers across different brands and nothing measures up to it. Using a primer first will help you get the most out of your favorite mascara – you can also use it as a conditioning treatment at night. Can’t recommend enough!

CHANEL HYDRA GLOW CONCENTRATE

Nothing feels like more of a luxury than adding Chanel to your beauty routine. After reading some amazing reviews about this, I couldn’t wait to give it a try. It’s an intensive, one month treatment that completely resurfaces your skin for the prettiest glow. You only use it for one month which I thought was super interesting! It specifically says on the bottle to wait months before using again. Loving results so far, but haven’t done my full month so I’ll share more after I hit the 1 month mark!

FLAWLESS FILTER PRIMER & HIGHLIGHTER (SHADE: 3 LIGHT/MEDIUM)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5/5 This one lives up to its name – it’s a primer/highlighter with smoothing airbrush technology for a soft blurring effect. You can use it right after your moisturizer as a primer, mixed with your foundation, or as a highlighter. I can never get enough of highlighter and love the effect of this one! Definitely a must-try if you haven’t yet!

NUFACE TRINITY – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4/5 Yes it works and you can see real results it you’re diligent about using it. For me personally, I’m not good about being consistent using it. I have friends who are really consistent and see great results, so this one really comes down to how dedicated you are. It has a heavy price tag, so if you can stick with it and incorporate it into your daily regimen, it’s worth every penny – but it can’t do the work without you. (also shown in this post.)

DIOR BLUSH -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5/5 I’m not wearing it in this video since I went with the coordinating blush, but this color is stunning for a rosy cheek, flushed beauty look (one of the best no-makeup beauty products!) Got this at Nordstrom last week and it’s already sold out. I love it – keeps flying off the shelves so I would add an alert and checkout as soon as you can land it in your cart!

Summer beauty is all about the easy, fresh-faced 2 minute beauty routines. Honestly I feel like that’s been my routine year-round lately haha but with a little bit of that summer glow, it makes anybody’s beauty routine that much simpler. I just discovered a few products that double as skincare and makeup that are the all-stars of summer beauty so I wanted to share my quick 3 minute glow routine!

STEP 1. HYDRATE (MOISTURE CREAM) – 15% OFF WITH CODE: CHRISTINEANDREW

The first step in any successful beauty look is moisture! This moisturizer is super light-weight and non-greasy but still is really hydrating and leaves my skin feeling so soft. The best part is its also skincare, so it also smooths fine lines and wrinkles over time the more you use it. It’s an essential step in both your morning and nighttime skin routine. (Don’t forget to follow with your favorite SPF in the am!)

My second step is this filter primer – technically it’s a primer so it leaves the prettiest finish but you can also get it in a pretty tint so it doubles as makeup to give you a gorgeous, glowy finish. And even better is that it’s actually good for your skin and won’t clog your pores like other primers. I’m obsessed obsessed obsessed. I’ve gotten tons of my friends hooked already!

I would probably have bought this just for the beautiful packaging, but fortunately I’m just as obsessed with the bronzer haha. (Gets amazing reviews too!) It’s not shimmery but more of velvety smooth finish – it goes on super smooth and builds really beautiful. So if you’re someone who appreciates high quality bronzer, you will love this one! TOO-FACED LIP PLUMPER

I’ve been using this one for over a month and love the results – probably the best lip plumper I’ve ever used. Feels like temporary lip injections 😂. It does have a little sting at first when you apply (which in my experience, all good lip plumper do) but it works really well and the gloss/color is super pretty.

SUPER GOOP UNSEEN SUNSCREEN

The best thing you can do for your skin is use SPF. I never go a day without it. I’ve tried more brands than I can count and this one is my current go-to. It feels less like sunscreen and more like a primer – really lightweight and absorbs quickly so there’s no excess or white streakiness it actually is clear. Really pretty finish on it’s own or under makeup!

YSL ROUGE VOLUPTE SHINE

If you haven’t tried these lipsticks, I don’t even know how to describe them to you. Once you buy your first, you won’t be able to stop. It’s a medium coverage lipstick but buildable if you want a more pigmented color, but my favorite part is the hyaluronic acid and oils – by far the most moisturizing lipstick I’ve ever used so it keeps your lips soft and smooth all day. My favorites are this nude and this light pink. Has a subtle shine to it too.

URBAN DECAY PINK GLIDE-ON EYELINER

One of my favorite spring beauty trends is the bright, colorful winged eyeliner so this hot pink liner was one of my first beauty-buys this spring. Urban Decay’s eyeliners are all really pigmented so it makes it easy to get that bright, bold winged look with any color. (Also waterproof so it stays on as long as you want it to.)

DIY facial night!

Someone woke up during my spa time and wanted to cuddle!

Pre-pandemic and pre-Ollie I was religious about going to get my facials. I would get a hydrafacial once a month, but now I think I’ve had 2 facials since last March. Tried a vampire facial for the first time last week! 😱 Will be sharing all my thoughts soon 🙂 I’ll always love the spa experience but I know a lot of places still aren’t open, or have limited availability if they are, so until you can get in for your next (or even first!) professional facial, bring the spa to YOUR HOME. Skincare is about consistency! So even if you are getting in for your facial take the time to pamper yourself at home too! So get cozy, and take a step into my spa routine at home 🥰

PREP & SET UP:

The first step to fake a luxury facial at home is to add a little luxury to the set up. Burn a luxe candle (obsessed with this scent, I’ve posted about it a lot but I just can’t get enough!), put on a Terry headband, your favorite pjs, wrap up in a robe, and find a relaxing playlist. (I usually take a bath or a hot shower before I start my spa day so I feel fresh and clean – it sets the tone 🥰)

CLEANSE:

First and foremost, make sure you remove any and all makeup or excess dirt and oils. I’ve been using these cotton pads for years and they are a favorite for removing makeup. Then you’ll want to do a double cleanse with a good face wash and cloth. I’m about to run out of this face wash and already I’m reordering because I don’t want to miss a day without it – it’s that good. It’s really gentle but also leaves my skin feeling refreshed and more radiant. If you don’t have a face wash you’re crazy about, try this one and let me know if you agree! It’s also important to use something to use a wash cloth, muslin cloth, or cleansing device to help exfoliate (just ordered this one – love that it’s deep cleansing and massaging! This one is specifically for sensitive skin.) Once you start doing the double cleanse and add a cloth or cleansing device, you’ll realize what a difference it makes.

STEAM:

Almost all facials start with a facial steam. It’s the best way to ensure a deep cleanse but also promotes circulation, collagen and elastin, but most importantly helps your skin absorb skincare products. I actually didn’t know until I started researching but it’s also super hydrating. (Not to mention so relaxing!) There are tons of at-home facial steamer options available but especially with your skin, you don’t want to take chances so make sure you get one with great reviews like this one. This is a top seller and super easy to use and heats up fast.

EXFOLIATE:

There are tons of options when it comes to exfoliating. If you’re in the mood for a face-scrub, I love this one. I saw Victoria Beckam post about it a year or so ago and immediately added it to my cart haha. For something less abrasive, you’ll want a product with AHAs and BHAs – this one is a super quick and convenient and a cult-favorite.. Either way, keep it somewhat simple – the last thing you want to do is over-exfoliate!

MICROCURRENT:

Hailey Bieber is my favorite celebrity – all her beauty and fashion fits are flawless! So a year or so ago when I saw her try the microcurrent facial I was dying to try it. My next trip to NYC I booked it. I loved the immediate results but you actually need to do it regularly to see the best long lasting results. This NuFace trinity device is the next best thing if you can’t fly to NYC or LA for a microcurrent facial every week (which really nobody can right haha). Honestly you won’t believe before and after pictures! It makes me want to be super religious about it because it’s the only way you’ll see lasting results.  It tones facial muscles and improves contour and skin tone while also reducing fine lines and wrinkles. You can also get the basic model here, but the Trinity comes with a lip and eye attachment to target those smaller areas. It’s really simple to use and takes just a few minutes every day, so it’s easy to get in the habit of it. They say even for 5 minutes for 30-60 days you will see results. I can’t wait to start seeing some results as I keep using it!

MASK:

One of my favorite parts of a facial is the mask. You can just sit, relax, and maybe even get a cat nap in while your skin is soaking up some TLC. These are a splurge but have amaaazing reviews online – will definitely be trying ASAP! I also love these eye masks – I think the eye area makes the biggest difference so if you don’t have time for a full mask, stick these on while you go about the rest of your day. This is an overnight sleep mask that just launched at Nordstrom but has amazing reviews!

MOISTURIZE:

Last but not least, a few skincare staples. After your mask you will want to moisturize.

If it’s during the day make sure you add a SPF of 30 or higher since your skin will be extra sensitive and susceptible to sun damage. I also love a good eye cream and lip treatment after a mask. I’m still on the hunt for an eye cream that I love but this one has a lot of good reviews and my friends always post about it, so just added to cart to try.

MIST:

This is another VB favorite I bought asap after I saw she loved and I am obsessed. My favorite part of the end of my at home facials is a refreshing elixir mist.

KEEP IT COLD:

And if you’re in the habit of at-home facials, you’ve probably already pulled the trigger on the beauty fridges. Not only are they so cute and extend the shelf life of some skincare products (nothing beats a cold eye cream), they also help with swelling and redness.

I also just got this energizing face mask after hearing rave reviews. It was my first time using tumeric in skincare (at least that I can remember haha). Great for a brightening mask!

Winter is always so hard on the skin, and the kids are washing their hands 100x times a day, it’s a whole new level of dry right now. So I always make sure Beckam has 3 things in his backpack: hand sanitizer, hand lotion, and lip balm. The kids love the Kiehl’s mint flavor and it’s full of Vitamin E to keep your lips protected from the cold weather. Nordstrom has this cute holiday set right nowthat has three full size lip balms (one for Mara, Wes, and Beckam 🙂 Great stocking stuffers if you can wait that long but also just a good winter essential for everyone.

KIEHL’S HAND SALVE

My mom’s favorite Kiehl’s product is their hand salve. It has almost 500 reviews on Nordstrom alone and almost 5 stars. Definitely one of their holy grail products, so if you haven’t tried it yet, you have to! They also have it in a little holiday set with a lavender and grapefruit sent. These would also be great neighbor/coworker gifts. They smell so good and are super rich and creamy.

MY MAKEUP ARTIST’S PICK: KIEHL’S ULTRA FACIAL CREAM

My makeup artist’s first step when she does my makeup, without fail, is to apply Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. The best start to a good makeup look is good skin and this Kiehl’s moisturizer is her favorite – it’s hydrating for 24 hours and super lightweight so it makes for the best base. Nordstrom has it in this cute holiday kit (+ their best-selling avocado eye treatment) for 25% off right now or there’s this trial-sized starter kit under $20.

My favorite holiday beauty look (and surprisingly easy to do!)

Life since Covid has made me a lot more of a minimal, bare-face type of a girl. But when I popped into Nordstrom to pick up my favorite holiday candle (swear by this one), I got super excited about all the holiday palettes. I got a few newb beauty cabinet additions and wanted to do a holiday beauty look. If there’s one product you neeeeeed it’s this stunning eyeshadow palette. So good! Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of products and you can see the tutorial here.

1. MOISTURIZER

The first step of any successful makeup look – good skin! It’s been a minute since I’ve shared my latest skincare routine and need to share an updated one, but one product that’s been a staple since I discovered it is this moisturizer. It is a splurge, but my skin has seen such a difference – it is worth every penny. It’s one of those skincare products that your skin starts to crave if it takes you too long to re-order after you finish a bottle.

2.  EYESHADOW (HAPPY GLOW SHADES)

The holiday eyeshadow palettes out this year are sooooo good!! For this look, I used the ‘Happy Glow’ shades from this palette. The pigments so rich and beautiful and blend/build really well. I was shocked at how well some of the shimmer tones came through.

3.  BROW POWDER & BROW GEL

These is my go-to for brows – been using them both for years. It stays all day and comes in so many shades – I’ve used the pencil and pomade but the powder is by far my fave!

4. PRIMER

If you aren’t using a primer, you’re doing your skin and your final makeup look a disservice. Not only does primer make for a beautiful base, it also helps prolong and preserve your makeup so it lasts all day, AND it acts as a barrier to keep products from clogging your pores. For this look, we used this cult favorite – it goes on so smooth and has a pretty mattifying, blurring effect so your foundation goes on super smooth.

5. FOUNDATION – SHADE 360 BISQUE (N)

I’ve been using this foundation for years. It lasts aaaaaall day! It’s a medium to full coverage and has a super velvety matte finish that make for the prettiest base for any beauty look. I have super sensitive skin that can get irritated with a lot of foundations, but I haven’t had a single issue with this one. Love the coverage!

6. HIGHLIGHTER

I love all things Benefit, my makeup artist got me hooked on this highlighter. This palette has multiple bronzers (I swear Hoola looks good on any skin tone!) – I used the ‘Cookie’ highlighter. It blends so well and it’s the prettiest tone that works so well with pink and tan undertones.

7. EYESHADOW (HAPPY GLOW SHADES)

I added a smudged eyeshadow under my eye using the same palette. Can’t wait to try the rest of the colors – the ‘Seduce Glow’ especially is so pretty! Also got this palette with more gorgeous holiday colors that are also subtle enough to use for an every-day beauty look.

8. LIP LINER

This lip liner is universal – it’s so pretty on EVERY skin tone! If you haven’t given in the obsession, do it. You won’t regret it!

9. LIP GLOSS (SHADE: HALLUCINATION)

I got this gloss a few weeks ago and have been wearing on repeat (last seen here). It’s the prettiest nude gloss and the perfect finishing touch to a full makeup look or you can wear it on its own with a fresh face.

10. SETTING SPRAY

Another cult favorite – if you haven’t tried a setting spray (especially this one) it’s a game changer! Not only does it help your makeup last all day, it also helps keep it from transferring to your clothes (or worse yet, your S/O’s clean white tee haha). Also got this stocking stuffer version!

HUM GLOW SWEET GLOW

These vegan gummies are the best! They lock moisture into your skin and boost your hydration which I love because it’s super dry here in Utah and my skin will take all the water it can get. It also helps stimulate your natural collagen to make your skin plump and give it that glow. I added this one to my skincare routine this past fall (my post here) and was a little skeptical – I had seen so many people post and rave about it but I couldn’t imagine it being worth the investment. And now I’m one of the people adding my rave reviews, haha 👋🏼. It completely balances and brightens your skin that immediately just soaks into your pores leaves you with the smoothest/glowiest skin ever! It is an investment, but if you skip your next facial and instead put that aside for this serum, your skin will thank you.

This is now one of my hoy grail products. This moisturizer has changed my skin. I am on the verge of finishing my first bottle and already reordering. It’s expensive, yes, but I have seen such a difference in my skin. Can’t recommend enough!

SKINCEUTICALS SOOTHING FOAM CLEANSER | $35

Ok this isn’t a new buy but I just ran out so had to add to my list. Once you try SkinCeuticals, it’s hard to ever go back. They are another investment brand but the results are always well worth the price tag. I love this hydrating foam cleanser! I’ve been using it for a while and it’s super refreshing and gentle. This one has glycerin and cucumber extract that calms your skin.

1. Start with Sleep: We always hear about the importance of sleep for your mental, physical, and emotional health but it doesn’t end there. Your body removes dead blood cells and toxins while you’re asleep, so not getting enough zzz’s can take a toll on your skin. It also decreases your skin’s moisture levels and pH level, so every hour of sleep matters!

2. Get picky about your pillowcase. While we’re on the subject, pillowcases are prone to get overlooked but they make a big difference! Make sure to wash your pillowcase a couple times a week. I also swear by silk pillowcases – great for skincare and hair!

3. Be religious about your skincare regimen. It’s honestly like getting ready for the day – I always feel better and more confident when I do it. I love trying new products, but there are some products that you will learn to always repurchase when you finish off the bottle. One that has been around forever and just keeps getting better with time is Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum. It’s their nightly serum that supports your skin’s natural repair and it’s more effective than ever. They just launched their new formula where they added a new Chronolux Power Signal Technology for  fast repair + collagen-boosting power, firming, pore minimizing, and overnight radiance. The best results always come over time, but my skin looked radiant overnight. It also locks in moisture for 72 hours. If you’re tired and too lazy for your full night routine, just cleanse, apply this and a moisturizer to lock it in and you’re ready for bed.

4. Clean your makeup brushes regularly. Like pillowcases, your makeup brushes can accumulate oil, bacteria, and dead skin cells which can cause break outs. Clean them at least once a week to avoid it – your makeup will thank you!

5.  Bluetooth or bust. When you think about how attached we are to our phones (and how they follow us everywhere), it should come as no surprise that they are covered in bacteria. Keep that screen as far away from your face as possible! Stick to your airpods/headphones and speaker phone when you can.

6. SPF, SPF, SPF. I can’t say this enough but, SPF! In your moisturizer, foundation, or on its own, you can never over-do it with SPF!

7. Hands off! One of the biggest habits worth breaking is touching your face. You don’t realize how often you touch your face until you start keeping count. Try to keep a tally throughout your day and you will start to catch yourself doing it and be able to break the habit.

8. Watching what you eat. Your diet and nutrition make a huge impact on your skin so start from the inside out! Pay attention to which foods trigger breakouts – you might have food sensitivities you aren’t aware of! For me it’s brownies lol. Literally every time I eat brownies my skin breaks out. Make sure you are trying  to incorporate anti-aging foods like blueberries, broccoli, avocado, spinach, and nuts. (also we all know it but don’t forget to drink lots of water too!)

Being home I am loving being with my kids so much but when they go down for bed it’s important for me to be able to relax and recharge. I’ll light my favorite  candle, pour in some bubbles (love this one), and just relax which is so therapeutic. But did you know having a bath over a shower is more than just a time to ease nerves? They’ve been able to link two week periods of taking baths with tons of mental and physical benefits, like boosting your immune system and even balancing hormones. Here are some more reasons to trade your shower in for a relaxing bath!

1. Baths can improve skin health. Originally you might think that baths would maybe dry out your skin because of those little wrinkles you get but it does the opposite by locking in moisture for longer preventing cracking and drying. It also releases steam onto your face which opens your pores letting go of any dirt and toxins it might hold leaving you with fresher skin. Applying your favorite lotion after getting out of the bath can help lock in that moisture into your skin.
2. Boosts your immune system and reliefs cold symptoms. I have pretty bad allergies this time of the year that causes me to be congested and have sinus pressure and can even get headaches. Taking a hot bath opens up nasal passageways, breaks down buildup, and circulates blood flow that relieves symptoms for your body. With COVID going around and being a respiratory virus its really important to take deep breaths throughout the day so you’re using your full lung capacity. The hot water in a bath acts as an almost physical exercise for your blood vessels allowing them to open up and get more oxygen to your lungs. I have read that it also helps your immune system which is a major benefit especially with all the sickness going around right now where our immune system needs to be stronger than ever.
3. Lets your body know its time for sleep by relaxing your muscles. The hot water in a bath increases your body temperature and relaxes the muscles that soothe us not only physically but mentally. By doing this it helps your body enter its sleep spell allowing you to fall asleep much earlier and easier. Crawling into bed you will also feel that any aches or pains you might have been soothed and waking up will feel a lot more refreshing!
4. It helps us feel better about ourselves. Quieting our minds and giving us the chance to slow down and take time for ourselves in general, helps us mentally feel better and gives us confidence in who we are. It’s also a great way to reduce daily anxiety allowing us to focus on the brighter things in life boosting our mood.
5. It burns calories. A hot bath can lower your blood sugar and burn calories. Soaking in a hot bath for one hour is compared to burning as many calories as a half-hour walk which is about 150 calories!

You don’t realize how contagious your attitude is until you spend 24/7 around someone 😜so now more than ever is the time to practice self-care, both for you and for the people around you! I heard a quote recently that seemed pretty applicable to life right now: “Self-care is giving the world the best of you, not what’s left of you.” Even though we might not be out and about right now, it really starts at home. I’ve noticed when I take a few minutes to get ready in the morning or indulge in a hot bubble bath at night, it starts my day and night off on the right foot. Forget the spa or gym – here are a few ways to add some self-care to your routine with just a few spare minutes throughout the day.

• Gratitude Journaling: I have loved seeing everyone focus on what they are grateful for lately instead of counting all the ways their life is hard! If you’re new to journaling, I just got the kids a 5-minute journal which has prompts so they can just add a few notes about their days’ highlights. If your day starts off on the wrong foot, take a minute to list out everything you are grateful for. It can be the big things like your home or your health, or little things like still having a box of your favorite cereal in the pantry. Listing them out makes you appreciate whatever you have and can completely change your day around.

• Face masks: As much as I love indulging in a full fledged facial, I do face masks at home on the regular. It’s a great pick-me-up for your skin, but also a mood boost to bring a little luxury to your day. 

• Moisturize: The silver lining of being stuck at home is giving your chance a break from makeup, but make sure you don’t get lax on your skincare regimen! It can be tempting to skip straight from cleansing to moisturizer, but now is the perfect excuse to be diligent with every step of your skincare routine, because you’ll be able to see the results! • Disconnect from Social Media:  I think social media is an amazing way to stay connected and build relationships, but it’s also important to know when to disconnect. It’s actually better for your sleeping habits if you can disconnect before bedtime, but also good for relationships too. Cody and I have a no phones rule at meal time and always turn off our phones off before bed so we can focus on spending quality time together.

• A Bubble Bath: My faaavorite! Honestly this has become a nightly routine for me for a while. It’s my number one way to relax and those few minutes to myself always help me reset after a long day. If you usually opt for a fast shower over a long bath, it couldn’t be better timing to dip your toe in (literally haha). You might love it! I love adding a good bath bomb and always add baby oil to my bath to make my skin super soft. You can also add epsom salts – super soothing to help you get a better night’s sleep.

As we are gearing up for the holidays, I am already braced for the inevitably driest time of year. It’s so bad in Utah that you have to put lotion on your hands multiple times a day just to keep them from cracking. Hands are one thing, but I’m even more conscious of my facial skincare routine so I wanted to share a few things I’ve learned recently (that we pretty much all do) around the holidays that is 100% drying out your skin, and some of my favorite products to help hydrate and hold in that moisture!

Traveling.

The busiest travel season of the year is just about to kick off and it also happens to coincide with the driest time of year, so I think it’s safe to say we’re all on high skincare alert. In-flight skincare routines are all the rage, but I actually read a story recently that it might be drying out your skin even more. When you apply sheet masks in-flight, it can bring the remaining moisture in your skin to the surface and then the dry plane air will basically absorb it all. I know there are so many different theories out there, but to play it safe, apply your skincare routine before you get on the plane so your products have a chance to absorb and start working for you instead of against you. My travel skincare must-haves are a good hyaluronic acid serum (been using Mineral 89 by Vichy for months and love!), a good eye serum (just started using Mineral 89 Eyes) and cream, and a moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid is capable of holding over 1000x its weight in water, so it really helps keep your moisture locked it! I also always pack a good face mask to give my skin an extra boost to combat some of the side effects of travel.

Washing your face with hot water.

Am I the last person to learn this one?! I always thought that the hotter the water, the better but it’s actually doing more harm than good. When you wash with hot water, you strip your skin of the natural oils and as a result your face feels dry/parched. Nobody wants to use cold water, especially in the winter, but instead, use lukewarm water whenever you wash your face. Then apply your moisturizing products immediately after –  there will still be some moisture on your skin, and your products will help seal it in. Vichy’s Mineral 89 plumps, hydrates and fortifies your skin, so definitely one to add to your skincare regimen as an everyday staple.

Cranking the heat.

There’s nothing cozier than turning up the heat in the fall and winter. (Does anyone else love the smell of the heater when it kicks on for the first time of the season?) It dries out the air, but an easy fix is adding a humidifier. If you haven’t, it makes a huge difference! A tip for any of you building a home right now – you can actually have them build a humidifier system into the house! It’s not as expensive as I would have thought, so it was a no-brainer considering how much we had our humidifiers going.

I know we can’t live day-to-day avoiding 100% of the things that might be drying out your skin, but one thing you can control is what you are putting on your skin to add that moisture back in! It’s such an easy step to add to your routine, but even easier to skip so I wanted to share some of the moisturizing products in my current line-up. I’m finally taking the plunge and ordering this. I’ve seen so many people post about the Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum and then I saw Victoria Beckam had it in her highlight beauty reel so that was the final straw! (How has she not aged at all in the last 20 years!? I’ll have whatever she’s having 😂)

With that, here’s some suggestions and tips I got that I’m going to start doing:

Avoid heat

First of all, a few of you mentioned that anything heat related can make the hyperpigmentation worse which actually makes sense because after I had a Hydrafacial the other day (which involves hot steam) Cody said my hyperpigmentation spots were more noticeable, so if you are dealing with pregnancy mask, of course try to avoid the sun, but try to avoid heat and warm steam too.

Use SPF 50

A dermatologist told me that I need to be using at least SPF 50 on my face. A lot of times I just rely on the SPF in my tinted moisturizer, but tons of you recommended this one and it’s been working really well since I started trying it. I have super sensitive skin and no break outs so far!

Vitamin C

This is another product that helps to brighten and even out skin tone, and a lot of you have said it will help with hyperpigmentation too. Tons of you recommended this one. I have actually used it off and on for a couple years (in general I test so many products out, but this one always comes back in rotation). Here’s a more budget friendly Vitamin C serum that works well too. I’ve used both of these and they are both great.

Misc Serums

I started using this serum recently and it’s helped with evening my skin tone. I was posting about how much I liked their serum and became friends with the Algenist team, and asked if they could help recommend anything for pregnancy mask –  this one (use on clean skin) along with their vitamin C serum followed by a moisturizer. I just got it in the mail – so I will keep you posted on my how they work 🙂

Give it time

A lot of you also said that pregnancy mask is something that just goes away with time (3-6 months post pregnancy) and other said that you can’t really start using effective treatment until after the pregnancy and after you are done breastfeeding, like microneedling, AHA/BHAs, (can’t wait to be able to use this one again!) a retinol (another Sunday Riley favorite), etc. So if you are first time mama, or first time getting pregnancy mask – it may just go away with time!

Proper Nutrients

Apparently low levels of folic acid in your diet can also lead to pregnancy mask, so eating things like oranges, whole grain bread, and leafy greens can help too. You can also take vitamin supplements to increase your folic acid levels (but always consult a doctor first :).

Peels/Treatments

I had hyperpigmentation spots a few years ago (2015) from a different treatment that went bad (more to come on that in a later post!) I got hyperpigmentation spots all over after and looked everywhere to find a good doctor to get rid of it. I found Dr. Taylor at Gateway Laser, he is amazing, I  did the pico laser that specializes in hyperpigmentation. It’s definitely more of an investment, its expensive (around $500 per treatment), so I would say try the other stuff first. I had AMAZING results so I wanted to share for those of you who might not be able to get rid of the symptoms with these other recommendations. A lot of you said not to try lasers after pregnancy mask because it will make it worse, but the doctor that I went to to for my hyperpigmentation told me there’s so many different types of  lasers, and the one he used is specifically for hyperpigmentation and it completely fixed it so I plan on going back for my pregnancy mask. This is definitely one of those times you want to make sure you don’t skimp on a dermatologist or just get the cheapest one you can find – lasers can do a LOT OF GOOD but also a LOT OF DAMAGE. Please please please make sure you are going to someone who knows what they are doing, ask around, read reviews and make sure they are a reputable company! I went to Gateway Laser – and saw Dr. Taylor. He specializes in lasers and has been doing it for like 20-30 years. He trains people around the world on lasers and I always appreciate how conservative he is – I’ve asked him about having other things done and he will tell me you don’t need it, or it wouldn’t help with that. He’s so smart and educated in what he does I won’t go to anyone else for laser treatment on my face. When I did my hyper pigmentation treatment 4 years ago I paid for it, so this isn’t sponsored, but I reached out to them about offering a discount when I talk about it on my blog and they said you can get 20% off your first treatment if you mention my blog (Hello Fashion) which will save you like $100. I’ll post more when I get mine done for my pregnancy mask 🙂

The first day we had the most gorgeous brunch to learn about the new products. Can we talk about this flower set up though??

Happppppy New Year!  I know I am a little late on this post, but after taking a couple weeks off I am feeling totally refreshed and ready to get going full force into the new year!  I wanted to share some of my favorite items I have been loving already in 2019.  These are all items I have been using and loving to help keep me feeling organized, happy, uplifted and like my very best. We moved into our new house yesterday and I couldn’t be happier about it!

I shared this lip mask like a week ago on my insta stories – its seriously one of my new favorites!  Its a sleep mask for your lips, but I carry mine around with me all day and use it as chapstick.  I’m obsessed!

You probably saw last week I went to Napa with the amazing Lancome team and got to try out their new Absolue skin care line.  The new line is amazing!  I will be sharing a full blog post on my trip soon but had to include the line as one of my recent favorites.

I am still living in these Adidas UltraBoost tennis shoes. They are soooo comfy and I love all of the colors they come in!  I will definitely be wearing these to help with one of my resolutions to be more active!

This cozy blanket and cordless vacuum are for the new house! You can never have too many cozy blankets around the house 🙂 And after hearing so much about these cordless vacuums I finally ordered one and I can’t wait to see what all the hype is about!

Cody got me this planner for Christmas and it was the best gift!  Its so simple and functional and I love that I can break out my schedule hour by hour to help keep me on track. It comes in a bunch of colors!

One of my most asked about topics is definitely skin care and I am so excited to share more skin care related posts this year!  These sheet masks are 100% one of my favorite products that I am using lately. If you feel like you don’t have time for sheet masks…there’s always a way to make time!  I will wear them when I am getting stuff done around the house or even just blow drying my hair. Gotta multi task to get that beauty time in 🙂

I have been wearing this cozy cardigan so much recently and gotten a lot of questions about it so I wanted to share it asap! It is the same fabric they make their robes in so it feels like you’re literally wearing a robe, but its a cardigan so its cute and acceptable to wear out in public 😉

Baskets!!! One of my major goals for the new year is just to keep our new house looking new and keep it organized and as tidy as possible. With 3 kids and a dog this isn’t always easy – so one of my favorite tricks is to have a bunch of cute baskets like this around around the house to toss their toys and blankets in when we aren’t using them.
